Summary: A good book but not a great book.
Review: Holes is a well written book with an interesting if implausible story line. It is a coming of age story for two boys, Stanley Yelnats and Hector Zeroni who have been sent to a juvenile detention facility called Camp Green Lake. In Texas, where this story takes place, many prisons are privately run and Camp Green Lake is no different. As enjoyable as the story is to read, the multitude of coincidences and apparent total lack of over sight of Camp Green Lake by the state of Texas make the plot unbelievable. However, it does have an upbeat ending that most kids will enjoy.

Summary: Holes by Louis Sachar
Review: Holes is a wonderful book for the young reader which will jumpstart kids' imaginations. Because of it's well construted structure, Holes won the Newberry Medal fot hte most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
Stanley Yelnats is a young teen who is gioing to camp Green Lake for the summer, but this is no fun camp, it is a camp for juvenile delinquents. In fact there is no lake and definately no fun. There, Stanley meets a crazy group of guys called Armpit, X-ray, Zigzag, Magnet, Squid and Zero. They named Stanley, Caveman, but it isn't as good as it looks, because each day the kids have to dig a five-by-five foot hole on the bottom of he lake, "to build character". You would think they could find a way out of this, but they all fear the warden, who was knowen to kill kids who disobeyed her.

During the story, Stanley thinks to himself about his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. Stanley's family blames it on him when anything goes wrong. But there was one factor missing there. How did his great great grandfather become so unlucky? It was because of Kissin' Kate Barlow, who robbed him and left him and left him in the desert. Some people said that she buried her treasure out here somewhere. Could it be that the Warden is making them dig to try and find Kissin' Kate's teasure, or is there something else we don't know?
This is an exciting and exhilarating story that will amaze you. Your breath will be taken away by Stanly's actions and how he slips out of the warden's grasp. But can he do this forever? Don't be surprised if you can't put the book down beacause that is what happened to me when I read the fbulous book Holes.

Summary: Holes by Louis Sachar
Review: Holes is a wonderful book to read together with children.Stanley Yelnats IV (notice the two spellings), is introduced to you ina way that makes you feel sorry for him. The Yelmats' family has beenplagued with a curse. The curse is given to the family by MadameZeronie when Elya Yelmats fails to fullfil a promise. There is proofthat the family is cursed, because Stanley Yelnats I was robbed of thefamily fortune by Kissin Kate Barlow.Trout Walker an enemy of KissinKate spends his life looking for Stanley's treasure. Stanley's familyis poor. Stanley is found guilty of a crime he didn't commmit. Hechooses to attend a juivenile camp rather than jail, because he alwayswanted to go to a camp and his family was to poor to send him to one.The camp is nothering like it's name GREEN LAKE CAMP. The camp is avery dry area with no lake or green grass anywhere. Stanley's daysare spent the same everyday. The day is always sunny and dry.Stanley spends the digging 5'x5' holes. The warden requires the holesto be dug. Why? All the characters involved in Stanley's family, areonce again involved in Stanley Yelnats IV stay at Camp Green Lake. Ifinished the book in two day. Sachar kept my attention. The childrenin our school library wait for two weeks so that they may ckeck itout. I understand why. This book is a must read for young and old.Share the book with your child. You will enjoy it too.

Summary: Wonderful Story
Review: Holes is a wonderful, humorous story about a boy named Stanley Yelnats who was sent to a boy's detention center, Camp Green Lake, because of a crime that he did not commit. In Camp Green Lake, the boys build character by digging holes exactly five feet wide and five feet deep. It does not take long for Stanley to realize that there is another reason why the boys sent to Camp Green Lake had to dig holes. Little by little, Stanley begins to dig up the truth in this dark tale of crime, punishment, and reparation.
