Summary: Truly Newberry Calibur work by Louis Sachar
Review: Holes deserves the Newberry Medal more than any other Newberry I have read before. The story is of a boy named Stanley who is accused of a crime he did not commit, and he is sent off to Camp Green Lake, a sort of juvenile diliquent punishment center. The punishment is that all the boys that are there have to dig a hole- 5 feet deep and five feet around the edge. Stanley learns to endure this hard work despite working out in the sun digging hard,sun-baked mud. When he cannot take the pain longer, He escapes from the camp with another camper named Zero, who was also associated with the same crime that Stanley had been sent there for. They escape to a mountain that they think holds water, a very precious, holy thing at Camp Greenlake considering that they live in a hot Texas condition where h2o is hard to find sometimes. They come back to Camp Green Lake and after a horrible incident with a poisonous kind of animal, both Stanley and Zero end up having the camp shut down by federal police because of the extreme conditions that the boys have to do their work at. An amazing read and spellbinding texture that you can almost feel when you read it. I reccomend it on all accounts.Cheers to Louis Sachar and lets hope he can write more books like this one.

Summary: A fascinating and exciting culmination of intrigue and plot.
Review: Holes is a backwards, yet wonderful book full of winding, relevant stories that come together to form quite a satisfying and excellent literary work. What captivated me most was the author's ability to have the me thinking one thing about a character and his/her traits - only to realize that I was completely wrong! I was also caught up in the portrayal of Stanley's life. To me, his life was a representation of all of our lives. How many times do we find ourselves in trouble (whether it is our fault or not), and no matter what anyone else is saying or not saying or doing or not doing on our behalf, our "holes" keep multiplying? We face the fact of our families not being there to help us; we face our friends letting us down. We face authority figures taking advantage of our vulnerability. But, like Stanley, we have to get our own acts together and realize that we are our only hopes. We have to find something that we believe in and press on towards the goal. And also like Stanley, we will learn more about ourselves and grow more as an individual if we just keep persevering. Reading Holes was a great experience for me. I loved the suspense, the plot, the characters, the closure, the underlying meanings - the whole bit. I've been reading a lot of "children's books" recently and, I must say, not all of them could cause a student to think (analyze, comprehend, evaluate) as much as this one does.

Summary: Extra! Extra! Read this HOLES review!
Review: HOLES is a big story, including three stories that equal a lot of characters, a lot of settings, and a lot of memories--good and bad! Sachar made the story so long but at the end, he stops us short!
There was a lot of good expressions, like "I can fix that" or "If only, if only..." or even "her head is as empty as a flower pot." I think that the book was not the best, but not the worst! I was always on the edge of my seat, but in the end, I realized that I was on the edge of my seat for no reason!

Summary: 'Holes', the book i could never put down!
Review: Holes is a book about a boy named Stanley Yelnats, who's family has a bad history of luck. When i first saw Holes i thought , nah it's probaly boring, but i was definitly wrong! I was on the internet, looking up a Harry Potter website, i am a major fan!, when i saw a list of books for people who are finished the series, and low and behold there was Holes!, so i decided to try it. I was hooked after the first few pages! It was an exiting book full of twists and unexpected adventors, a book that will make you laugh, and at times make you cry. So now, i definitly go by the saying never judge a book by it's cover. :)

Summary: Hunter Ivys Review for Holes
Review: Holes is a book about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. His whole family was cursed by a gypsy Since then they have had a long stroke of bad luck. They always seem to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. That got him sent to a place called, Camp Green lake. There they have to dig a hole five ft. wide and five ft. deep. Later in the story, one of his friends, Zero , runs off into the desert, and Stanley goes after him. They almost die, but find refuge on God's Thumb. While they are in the desert, he lifts the curse. When they go back to the camp he stops the warden and saves the day.

I chose the protagonist of this story. The protagonist of this story is a boy named Stanley Yelnats. He is a good boy, a little over weight, but still good boy. HE is picked on and gets sent to Camp Green Lake. Later Zero becomes sort of a protagonist. When he first arrived, he thought the camp was going to be a camp fun and games, but he was wrong. Later while he was at camp, a lawyer came to take stanley out of the campl. Before he leaves,Zero and he find a suitcase, and it is filled with beatiful, well I can't tell you or it will give too much away. If you want to find out what happend to the warden and Mr.Sir and whats in the suitcase, you have to read this book.

Overall I think holes is a good book, and it is good for all ages.I have read it twice, and I loved it.
