Summary: Books and Bagels book- holes
Review: "You want some sploosh?" "Onions! Hot,sweet Onions!" " I like to dig holes." "This ain't no Girl Scout Camp!" Do these sentences sound familiar to you? They're addictive catch phrases from Louis Sachar hit book, Holes. Louis Sacher

Holes is about a young man ,Stanley Yelnats, who is wrongfully accused of stealing a famous athlete's shoes and is sent to a juvenile work center called "Camp Green Lake". Camp Green Lake really isn't green. It really does'nt even have a lake either. It did at one time , but that was 100 years ago when the place was a town just called "Green Lake". Anyway, back to Stanely. Stanely has a curse on his family from his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealin-great-great-great-grandfather" (example his great grandfather and his family, were on the on the way to thier new home, when he was robbed by Kissin' Kate Barlow other wise he would have been rich but now they're in poverty) so he thinks.
So when Stanley gets to the camp, he sees nothing but tents and holes. So, the people direct to his new living space in the D section, where he meets some boys with some intesting names such as "Armpit" and "Zero"The first day of digging the give Stanley a shovel the is 5ft. long. He is to make a hole that is feet from top to bottom and all around. It takes Stanley forever to dig it. "The 2nd holes the hardest."according to X-ray. The process just continuesd on from the holes.
Then Stanley strikes a deal with Zero; if Zero helps him dig apart of his hole he will help him read. it works until the leaders find out and start making fun of Zero so he runs away. Stanley decides to go after him. Does Stanley make it? Will he be ok? Will he ever get out? you'll just have to read the book to find out.

Summary: A gem in childrens' literature!
Review: Never judge a book by its cover. It was hard for me to look at Holes by Louis Sachar without wondering how the illustrious author of Sideways Stories from Wayside School and There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom managed to procure both a Newbery Medal and a National Book Award. I expected Holes to be yet another tale of juvenile delinquency and final redemption. I was however, pleasantly surprised at the depth of this book. I soon found myself caught up in the well-constructed

plot, and finished it within twenty-four hours. Although I realized that what I was reading was definitely 'pleasure reading', I enjoyed piecing together the events in my mind and near the end of the book I was able to triumphantly say, "Ah-hah!" Even though most events fell together, I did not in the least appreciate the last chapter in which the author instructs the readers to 'fill in the holes' on their own. It led me to believe that the author himself couldn't think of anything to tie events together and therefore, he simply thought of an eloquent way to tell us to use our imaginations. All things considered, Holes was an excellent book and I enjoyed it very much. Louis Sachar definitely made a contribution to children's literature in the writing of Holes and deserves the honors he received for it.

Summary: It Really Makes You Think!
Review: "HOLES is a really gripping book. What I mean by this is everything Sachar says he has a super good reason for saying. Take for example "Camp Green Lake" the camp main setting of the story.HOLES tells clearly about GREEN LAKE today: a rotten place where "bad boys" go and, yesterday a wonderful place! I think if you like books you have to think about you will love HOLES!

Summary: "Holes" always kept me one my seat and wanting more.
Review: "Holes" by Louis Sacher is such an awesome book. Stanley Yelnats is accused of stealing Clyde Louiston's, a famous baseball player, shoes. The problem is that he didn't do it, they "fell from the sky" is what he says. He has two options, go to jail, or got to a juvenille camp. He went to the camp. While he was there he meets the kid who actually stole the shoes. At this camp you are treated in a way so that you don't do what you did again. Everyday Stanley has to dig a 5 by 5 hole, 5 feet by 5 feet. If you find something while digging, you get the day off if the warrden likes it. There is also a limited amount of water that you get. Through out the story there are two stories that combine into the one at the end. Camp Greenlake used to be a town that had a lake. The dried up lake is now the camp. This boat sunk and had things in it that are revealed later on. Stanley blames everything that happens to him and his family on his great-great grandfather. Stanley runs away looking for another camper and they discover a lot of things that make more sense towards the end. These two stories combine into one to make a one great story. I recomend this book to everyone. I don't read much and I thought it was the best book ever.

Summary: "Holes" is a unique and enthralling book.
Review: "Holes" by Louis Sacher, is a book unlike any book that you have read or will ever read. It takes three stories, and at first it is confusing, but they all tie together at the end. This book is truly a great piece of literature, and I will reccommend it to anyone who likes books with mystery, and humor. The humor is put in places that help break the tension, and yet put you in more suspense. It is well-written and keeps you remembering little details that didn't seem to important when you read them. This book kept me wanting to read some more, and never finding a good place to stop. I definitely want to read it; again and again.

Summary: An Honorable Book
Review: "Holes" is a very well-writen book by an accomplished writer.I have always loved Louis Sacher's books, but this one was definately the best! When Stanely Yelnats get falsely convicted of stealing a very important pair of sneakers, he gets put into "juvinile hall" type of place where he has to get up at the crack of dawn and dig a 5 foot hole. You'll love being dragged along through Stanley's adventures, where piosonous lizards and mean wardens await him. I really feel that this book deserves all of the credits and honors that it was given.
