Rating: Summary: Holes, a great book Review: Hello, my name is Ali Beydoun and I am in American Islamic Acad. I would like to talk a little about this book. I want to thank my teacher for getting me this book. Ilike the mystery of the book and I love its intensity. I enjoyed reading it very much and I was very into it while reading. My favorite part of the story was at the end because it got so intense. If you were to read the book you would not want to take your eyes off of it.this book would make a great movie.I don't think there was anything wrong with the book. Thanks for reading!!!!
Rating: Summary: Shelby'S thoughts Review: Here are my thoughts about Holes: I don't like the warden because she is mean. Also, I don't like Mr. Pendanski because he wanted Zero to die. I hate onions. I liked when Zero and Stanley found the suitcase because it had jewels and valuable papers in it. I also liked when Stanley's father made up a foot invention because it made feet smell better. I liked when Stanley went home because he would have a house to live in. I liked when Stanley saw his mom because it was nice. I would recommend this book to young adults.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! FANTASTIC! PHENOMINAL!! Review: Here it is people; a perfect book!(Also, might I add, making a perfect moVie!)! I read this book a day before I saw the movie and was taken away with it's Brilliant plot and resolution!! So, how else can I say that it is anything but perfect?: It includes mystery and adventure as Stanley Yelnats (and the reader, of coarse) solves a connection so great between his past and his future that his whole life is changed! On the way to resolving this the story has adventure, mystery, journey, discovery, and including the emotions of fear and romance. Louis Sachar has also done a fantastic job at creating chacters that come to life as each word of this book is read. I recomend this book to anyone who wants to read the perfect book.

Rating: Summary: Excellent read! Review: Hero: overweight People make a lot of assumptions in life. For example, it's easy for most folks to assume that a fat kid is lazy or that he is a bully, that a small kid is timid and smart. Stanley Yelnats is fat, but he's no dummy and he's no bully. He is, however, the victim of a very small bullying child nearly every day he attends school. And one day, as he is walking beneath an overpass, a pair of sneakers literally fall upon his head and cause him to be a victim of the judicial system as well. Since his father always needs another set of stinky shoes for his foot deodorizer experiments, Stanley is excited to have a prime pair to give to him. Racing off with the shoes, the police see him running and assume he is up to no good. Sure enough, the sneakers he is carrying have been reported as stolen. They are famous footwear belonging to one Clyde "Sweet Feet" Livingston, pro baseball player and Stanley's hero. Truly, it's not Stanley's fault that he is sentenced to attend a juvenile delinquents hard labor camp. According to his family it's all because of his no good, dirty, rotten, pig stealing great great grandfather whose family, had he done what a gypsy woman once directed him to do, never would have been so cursed. While at camp Stanley has to get along with some truly rough bullies, and he has to dig a 5 x 5 hole every day in the baking hot sun while avoiding poisonous lizards, snakes, spiders, and the cruel camp staff. But for all the faculty talk that digging holes builds character, there's a distinct undercurrent that something else is going on. The warden is looking for something out there in the desert, something clearly important. And maybe, just maybe, if Stanley is the one to find it, it will be his ticket out of there. What worked for me: This well-balanced story deftly interweaves threads from the Yelnats family's past and present to keep the reader entranced and guessing. And if that isn't enough, the characters are very sympathetic; the reader would stick with the book just to find out how things turned out for them. (And to find out how the bad guys got theirs in the end.) For me as a writer, "Holes" comes under the "I wish I had written that!" heading. Size-wise Stanley was heavy and out of shape at the beginning of the story, but hard labor and minimal food trimmed him down and toughened him up a bit. What didn't work for me: The only problem I had with reading this story was that I didn't actually read it myself. I listened in as my husband read a few pages of it to our boys each night at bedtime. This meant I had to wait weeks to find out what happened because he wouldn't let me read ahead! Overall: Highly recommended to readers of all ages! If you liked "Holes" you might also enjoy "Saviors of the Bugle". Note: this book has been made into a movie. The main character is no longer fat, and indeed we do not know about Stanley's being picked on at school either. But despite trimming out a great deal of the novel and adding in a few new pieces, it still is a great story and transferred very well to visual format. Our boys loved it; but it definitely helped that we read the book first. I suggest you do the same.

I have read many books because of our Accelerated Reader program and this is the one I likes most. I am positive you will love it if you like exciting and adventurous stories! Hope ya'll read it!
Rating: Summary: A summary of HOles Review: Hi I am a student of Thomas E Weightman Middle School and I finished the book Holes. I thought the book was very interesting. It is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats and he had to go to court beacause of a corse that he thinks is real but you will find out if its real or not. Everyone thinks that Stanley stole a pair of really famouse shoes but he is saying that he really didnt. So he has to go to a juvinille camg that is called Camp Green Lake and it has no lake. During the time that he was there Stanley makes friends. One of his frends names is Zero. Stanley teaches Zero hbow to read and Zero lets him dig his holes. A couple of days later Zero runs away beacause he gets mad at a teacher named Mr.Pendenski. A few days later Stanley starts getting worried so he steals the water truck and tries to go find zero but the truck flips over. So he walks and he finds him so they have to live off of peach juice and onions. They go back to the camp and they do not have to dig any more holes. To find out what happens next read the book Holes. It is very interesting!
