Rating: Summary: Deserving of Every Honor It Received Review: With "Holes" Louis Sachar has provided young adult readers (9 to 14) a novel that should not be overlooked by parents, teachers and librarians. The awards committees got it right when Mr. Sachar was honored for this volume, about a young man sent to a prison camp for a crime he did not commit -- a prison camp that had a set of oddities that made for a gripping plot. Let's be honest: Sachar is a pro when its comes to young adult fiction; this is not his first book. But, without question, it is his best.
Rating: Summary: Better than Harry Potter? Review: With the latest craze of Harry Potter it's been hard to find a good book when Potter is the only one they carry but with the creativity of Louis Sacher this book has caught my attention. I loved the two-part stroy and yet it is not the slightest bit confusing. I could not put this one done. It is a book to curl up in on a rainy day. Read it and you'll love it.
Rating: Summary: A Very Good Book! Review: Woah! This is an awesome book with the capability of the "Harry Potter And The Sorcerror's Stone Era." I just saw the movie and loved that to. But, the book still is for 5th grade and middle school students. I'm in 7th grade and I read it in about 45 min. It is still very good. Some parts are funny, too, but the humor is limited to a 3rd-4th grade student. I would suggest that you buy this, read it immediately, then go see the movie. it is a very good way to spend about 3 hours. A very good and cool way.

He makes friends with some people with unique names; Squid, X-Ray, Magnet, Armpit, and Zigzag. The plot is when Zero leaves and Stanley goes looking for him. Will Stanley find Zero? Rating: Summary: Read all about it! Review: Wouldn't you think it was unfair if someone accused you of something you didn't do? Holes, a realistic fiction novel, is a story about a boy who learns how to solve this situation and how one should never give up even when things get hard. Stanley Yelnats is the main character of this book, and throughout the novel, he proves to be a brave, friendly boy, who is ready to help his friends no matter what the consequences. Stanley teaches many other boys what friendship is all about, and he covers up for other people's mistakes. The adventures of his life all take place in Camp Green Lake, Texas, a camp for bad boys where Stanley and his new friends have to dig holes all day long. This story is set in the present. Stanley's life changes when he is accused of stealing a famous pair of shoes, that actually fell on his head as he was walking down the street. The judge finds Stanley guilty, and he gives him a choice; jail or Camp Green Lake. Stanley decides to go to the camp, where he meets many other boys like him. Little Zero, a boy who cannot read nor write, becomes Stanley's buddy and by the end of the book has turned into an intelligent kid, who has been greatly influenced by the protagonist. If young readers are looking for a way to live a great adventure and to experience real emotions, I honestly believe that Holes will satisfy their curiosity. I recommend this book to every guy or girl that is ready to be subjected to a special, different style of writing. Louis Sachar is an incredibly creative and talented author, who has the power to turn his books into reality, and who makes it impossible for readers to forget his stories.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED this book! Review: Wow - Louis Sachar scores again! The author of the Wayside School books and There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom takes a different route with this book. It's different from his previous works, and yet, it still has the same humor and lessons that are his trademark. At first, when my friend told me about this book, I thought it would be pretty dumb. But I got bored one weekend and read my little brother's copy, and I literally ate it up. I was finished with it in a day. Stanley Yelnats gets to choose his fate for a crime that he didn't even commit: prison, or Camp Greenlake. Stanley had never been to summer camp. Besides, anything is better than prison, right? WRONG! Camp Greenlake is horrible! The Warden makes the boys dig holes, looking for the mysterious treasure of Kissin' Kate Barlow. I especially loved the parts where it would flash back to the original Greenlake and Stanley's grandfather. A final word: buy this book. You won't be sorry to have it in your collection.
