Rating: Summary: Holes Review: When I checked Holes out of the library, I wasn't sure I would like the book because it wasn't something that I normally like to read. I started reafing the book Holes and got caught up in the book. I could hardly put it down! The only part that I didn't like about Holes was the way the book would talk about the main character(Stanley Yelnats)and then switch over to his ancestors. This book is a a great book. I would recommend it to my friends with the same reading interests as me.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: When I first got Holes, I didn't read it. I kept putting it off. But when I finally did read it, I loved it! It is about Stanley Yelnats and how he went to a camp. He had to dig one hole everyday! Holes tells about Stanley's family's past as well as what is going on at camp. This is a great book and I definitely recommend it to you. And remember, don't put off reading it. Just pick it up and start right away, because it's a great book!
Rating: Summary: A really good read. Review: When I first read a description of "Holes", I was immediately interested. I can definitely see why it received such a great honor, the Newbery Medal. "Holes" is the story of Stanley Yelnats IV (his name is a palindrome.) He is framed for a crime he did not commit, and chooses to go to a special camp for juveniles rather than to jail. (Stanley's family has had bad luck all the way back to Stanley Yelnats I, who broke a promise to a gypsy.) Camp Green Lake, however, is nothing like Stanley expects. As the author informs us on the first page, there is no lake at Camp Green Lake. It dried up years ago. The boys who live there are forced to dig a 5-foot hole every day. Sachar leaves "holes" in the story, jumping back and forth to different places and times, but they are filled in, and the secret of Camp Green Lake is finally revealed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a little suspense and a lot of fun.
Rating: Summary: Holes- The Best Book You'll Ever Read! Review: When I first read this book, I thought it was incredible! You can't stop reading it. That's how great it is! The way Louis Sachar wrote this book was amazing. The story is one huge circle. It was a book that made you think. If you missed one small detail you wouldn't be able to figure stuff out later on in the book. The main character is Stanley Yelnats, Stanley is a boy who's family over the years been cursed with bad luck, thanks to a ancestor from long ago. This book is funny, interesting, and strange. It's one of the best books I ever read. I highly recommend this book to anyone. I promise they would enjoy it!
Rating: Summary: ~Pigs and Lizards~ Review: When I first saw the cover I thought it was really going to be about real holes.I thought it was going to be about worms and what it is and stuff. No way! Never judge a book by its cover. You're stereotyping! It's very confusing at first but once you catch on you're considered a person who knows their evidence. You will be so0o0o surprised when... oh yeah I can't tell you, I guess you will have to read the book and find out for yourself!Good luck my little PIGLET! :)
Rating: Summary: A Weird Book I Really "DIG" Review: When I first saw this book, I thought: WHAT? All the kids in my grade (all 8 of them, little school) and our teacher wanted to read it. I was the 6th person to read it and had seen how the people who have read it bothered the people who were reading it at the moment. I took it home and read it all that night. Even though I didn't want to be bothered, I still would have finished it in one night! It was really good but I liked the Honor book better.
Rating: Summary: Great Book. Review: When i first saw this on the shelf in the bookstore,i was thinking a book called 'Holes' couldn't possibly be any good. I,amazingly, bought it and decided to waste some time reading it. I finished the book the first night and i loved it! Stanley Yelnats is sent to a type of prison (or Boot Camp) where boys go when they have commited a crime. For punishment, the boys in the prison have to dig a hole 5 feet wide, and 5 feet deep each day in a dried out lake, under the hot, scorching sun...and they can't go back to camp until the hole is completly finished. Plus, the boys have to watch out for poisonous critters. And,quite a few things happen at camp, besides the hole-digging. I found this book a very fun, enjoyable thing to read. Don't judge a book by it's cover,I greatly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: When i first started reading the book holes it was very interesting.I couldn't put the book down and at the end of every chapter there was a cliffhanger.I rate this book 4 stars because it was fun and it had a lot of interesting facts about Stanley Yelants and his family life.Like the curse that his great-great grandfather gave him.THe book was also kind of sad because Stanley had to go to a juvenile detention camp for something he didn't do.While Stanley is at the juvenile detention camp, he has a hard time digging up the holes due to the incredible heat and the hard, dry land. While Stanley is there at the dry juvenile detention camp he makes new friends. His new frineds are,X-Ray,Zero,and many other new people.Zero becomes Stanley's new friend and later on in the story there friendship starts to build up and shares a great bond with each other. Then, towards the end Zero runs away from the camp, so Stanley follows Zero a few days later.Stanley then finds Zero sitting down on a rock,Zero is too weak.So Stanley helps Zero to reach the top of the mountain, which turns out to be the old onion field. Since Zero is very weak Stanley carries him up the mountain. For at least one week they survived on onions before returning to the juvenile. When both of them return to the camp, they dig up the same hole that they found the lipstick tube. Finally, after digging for so long they hit something.Which was a suitcase that had the name Stanley Yelants.A few seconds later the warden finds them and tries to grab the suitcase from them, but they manage to grab it before the warden could snatch it.Later on, Stanley finds out that the suitcase belonged to his great-grandfather who was also named Stanley Yelants. It turns out that the suitcase had many valuable things inside it, that Kate Barlow wanted to get. I loved this book and it is one of my favorites, also there is also a movie about the book, but I think that the book is better. The movie also has little facts about Holes.
Rating: Summary: My Customer Review Review: When I read Holes I gave it a 5. I gave it a 5 because I thought it was a phenomenal book. If I were you, I would get this book. Rating: Summary: A worthy read Review: When I read Holes I wasn't disappointed. This book has two stories in one. The first story is the story of Stanley Yelnats, a boy who has been convicted of a crime he didn't commit, and his troubles in a dicipline camp where he has to dig a 5 foot hole daily. No one knows why they dig. They just do. The second story is aboout the history of the camp and the town around it. Many of the main character's ancestors are in it. The two stories have mysteries which tie into each other by the end and have an unexpected twist ending. Overall, this book is a good find, but not worth going out of you mind trying to find it, unless you are a huge fan of mysteries.
