Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Was'up?My name is Jeremiah. Holes takes place on the street and at Camp Green Lake. Stanley is mistaken for committing a crime, stealing shoes from a famous baseball player. Then the police catch him and send him to court. So they send him to a boot camp called Camp Green Lake where all you practically do there is dig. His family thinks it's a curse because of his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-steeling-great-great-grandfather. There he meets a lot of punks that soon turn into friends. The people's names are Zero, Magnet, Stanley, Barf-Bag, Armpit, Zig-Zag,Twitch. There are also the mean directors that are in charge of Camp Green Lake. Mr. Sir,the Warden, and Mr. Pendanski. All these people hate the weird directors. Later in the story Stanley and Zero discover that Stanley's ancestors one time were here by discovering a treasure chest with Stanley's name carved in it. I think this book is fascinating because of the author's style, it makes you wonder what's gonna' happen next, and it has suspense, action, and adventure. There's also a movie about this book. This book is realistic fiction. I hope you enjoy this fascinating book. You've got to read this book!!!!
Rating: Summary: This isnt the girl scouts but its a good book Review: We are 2 5th graders and our teacher (one of the best teachers ever) read us this book for a read aloud. We all loved the book and never wanted him to put it down. This a very interseting book about a boy named stanly who is mistaken for stealing shoes and is sent to camp green lake. Rating: Summary: Class review Review: We are a seventh grade class from California and our teacher read us Holes in class. As we read the book, we heard many ironic stories. Many thought the first part of the book was boring, but the story got exciting. One great part was the explanation of character nicknames. The story unfolded more information on Stanley and Zero. We liked the mystery and began to make connections after the Green Lake stories. All in all it was a great book.
Rating: Summary: Excuse me - we think you ought to read this book. Review: We are students in Mrs. Keefer's 4/5 multi-age in Tempe, AZ.We are NOT a Girl Scout Camp! We are a group of kids that loved reading Holes much more than digginbg them like Stanley had to. The descriptive language and cliffhangers kept us on the edge of our seats. We give this book a mountain size thumbs up. The only bad thing about it is that it eventually had to end. Now we have to find a book just as good.
Rating: Summary: a magical book that contains only hints of magic Review: We bought this book based on a Amazon.com link from Harry Potter. Holes has the same sense of wonder, but without the overt use of magic. The whole family loved reading it!
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC! We never saw the ending coming! Review: We can't believe we didn't catch on before the end! The graphic "lizard" details were great...we were all squirming!
Rating: Summary: We hated this book!! My 10 year old thought it was awful! Review: We didn't get why this was an award winner. Very depressing and not at all funny. Don't waste your time when there are so many other good books to read!
Rating: Summary: Great for all family members. Review: We enjoyed this book very much. The whole family really got into it quite by accident. I had been having my 9 year old read it out loud to me and the rest of the family overhearing it got hooked on it too! We ended up reading it out loud together to the very end.
