Rating: Summary: Holes could be the best book I've ever read! Review: This is a book about a boy and his friend and their troubles and differences. Most books have either action and sadness or humor and happiness. Holes has them all. I recommend this book to ages 8 and older.
Rating: Summary: The Book I almost fell asleep in Review: This is a book about a boy that was named Stanely. He got into a mess and had to go to a boot camp sort of thing. In this camp the kids had to dig holes as deep as his shovel and as wide as his shovel all the way around. Stanley, who thought that the camp would be fun, went without knowing that he was not going to like the camp. Well, how he got there in the first place was a mix-up. He did not do any crime, but was asumed a crime that he had never done. He was at school one day. While he was at school a man was in the position of stealing a pair of shoes and bunch of things that were for the poor people. As Stanely had recess a boy took his folders and put them in the toilet for fun. He ran in after him and when he found his folders that were wet. when he came out of the bathroom he saw girls and with humiliation he ran and ran. He was so embarresed and sad. While he was running a shoe came from the sky and hit him. What hit him was stolen and he was the one who had to go to a hot sunny smelly camp. My favorite part in this story was when Stanly was figuring out a clue with Zero. Zero was a boy that couldn't read or write. The digging was because of the past. They found out where the money was and they got it from the stories that were told to Stanely. When I read the book this was the only part I was awake in. This book wasn't as good as I thought. I thought it would be good because almost everyone was reading it or had read it. Because of this I went to the library to borrow it. Long time ago I thought the cover was about the moon and I also thought that the meaning of Holes was the moons holes. Now I know that I was wrong and that this book had nothing to do about the moon.
Rating: Summary: A never put down book Review: This is a book about a boy who went to camp because he did something bad, so at camp he regrets it by digging 5-foot holes in the burning weather,I loved this book and couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: This book is going to make you dig holes. Review: This is a book about a kid named Stanley who is accused of stealing a pair of a famous baseball player's shoes, so he has a choice of going to jail or going to Camp Green Lake to dig holes. The people think that digging holes make you more smart. But all they are doing is making the kids try to dig up a treasure. This camp has groups A-F. Stanley is put in group D. Group D has kids that make up nicknames like Barf Bag, X-Ray, Zero, Magnet, and Stanley's name was Caveman because they thought he was so fat and big. Don't think this is going to be funny like Wayside School. This is serious and don't read it if you don't like a little violence. This is a very good book.
Rating: Summary: This is a good book for kids that are not disicpline. Review: This is a book about boy who gets in trouble. For soomething he do no he is sent off some where he think is camp. But this is a place where you dig holes all day.His name stanley and his friend zero. They are trying to escape from this place. But you have to read it to find out the rest.
Rating: Summary: This book is an unpredictable book. Review: This is a book for all types of people. They belive that if a boy does something bad Camp Green Lake can do something about it. They would make you dig holes 5ft by 5ft. This is a book packed with several adventur that will all link up. This is the best book in the world.
Rating: Summary: Strange but good Review: This is a book that I think is very good but frankly is very, very strange. It is about a boy who is mistakily thought to have stolen a pair of shoes and thus is sent to a camp where he must dig a hole each day that is 6 feet wide and 6 feet long. Doesn't sound hard well heres the cscht they are in a dessert where they get almost no water. Does it still sound easy. Well if you said yes your weird. I thought it was almost brotly and uninterasting at first but it gets very, very interasting.
Rating: Summary: Kids Classic Review: This is a book that most kids thinks is better than Harry Potter. The hero Stanley is a loser living with a loser family when he is mistakenly accused and found guilty of a serious theft. Instead of going to a juvenile detention centre he goes to a civilian run program where he has to dig holes in the hot Texas sun. The book has two broad layers. The reason for Stanley's predicament results from a historic curse his family has been subject to. The reasons for this are explained in a back narrative. Against this is the story of Stanley coping with his environment, learning how to live in a crazy system and making friends. The message of the book is reasonably good. The world is not necessarily a sensible place but one has to keep working at things. Bizarrely enough the reform camp is not that far of the mark of some that have existed. The book is easy to read and adult readers can read it in a couple of hours. Kids might take a bit longer but they would love it.
Rating: Summary: Book Review of Holes by a 9 year old author Review: This is a cliche but I mean it: Holes is a breathtaking, unforgettable ride that you can never put down. The book is good for all ages because the characters' nicknames will make the children laugh and the suspense will make the grown-ups bite their nails down to their cuticles, just like Stanley Yelnats's parents when they find out Stanley stole Clyde Livingston's shoes, a famous baseball player. Stanley goes to Camp Green Lake for his punishment. He digs holes every day to build character, but is he digging holes really to build character? Stanley doesn't think so. He meets some new friends: X-Ray, Armpit, Zero, Magnet and Zig-Zag. He doesn't use his given name but Caveman instead. Have you ever met Sam the Onion Man or his donkey, Mary Lou? Or Kate Barlow? Well, you'll meet them all in this surprising and adventurous book.
