Rating: Summary: Holes Review: DiggingBook: Holes Author: Louis Sachar Number of pages: 233 Price: $3.99/ paperback Imagine walking under an over pass while walking home from school, when you get out from under the pass shoes fall from the sky and hit you in the back of the head. You get frightened and start running, after about 10 ft the police turn the corner and see you running with the shoes and suspect you were the one who stole them. Well that's exactly what happens to Stanley Yelnats in the book holes He was sentenced to jail or a year at camp green lake a boy's camp in the middle of nowhere. (Boy was he in for a surprise). When he gets on the bus they travel a hundred of miles into the middle of nowhere. The point of the book was to show that if you were positive and sure about something then you'd eventually get something good out of it. The catchy title is what pulled me in and the inscruciating detail. Imagine if you had to dig 5 foot holes every day for a year. That would be hard on you and the people who were digging with you.

Rating: Summary: A Hole A Day Keeps The Warden Away! Review: Do you have a no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather? Stanley Yelnats does, and it is because of him that his family is cursed. As you read Holes by Louis Sachar, you will learn of a promise broken many years back, by Stanley's heartbroken ancestor. It is because of that broken pledge that Stanley must dig a hole a day while at Camp Green Lake. Louis Sachar is a very popular children's author with such novels as There's A Boy In The Girl's Bathroom, Dog's Don't Tell Jokes, and the Wayside School Is Falling Down. He seems to connect with his readers by hitting their funny bone. Although Holes contains many humorous moments it also carries along the theme of believing in the good of yourself and others. Many may become frustrated when trying to keep straight all the flashbacks in Holes but it is those flashbacks which gives this Newbery winner the spice it needs to make it a page turner. Grandparents to the very young, who need to follow along on audiotape, will be captivated by the way Louis Sachar is able to entwine the lives of so many characters and continuously create suspense. Will you have to dig a hole a day because of a past relative?

Rating: Summary: Digging Up Those Holes................... Review: Do you like digging holes? I sure don't, but in this book Stanley Yelnats, the main charater, is convicted of a crime that he really didn't do and has to go to Camp Green Lake to dig holes as punishment. "Holes" is a great fiction book telling two stories at once. Stanley, also known as the "Caveman", is sent to Camp Green Lake a correctional facility for Juvinile Delinquents where he is to dig a hole each day 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep. The story has new funny events every day as Stanley and his friends dig in the hot blood boiling sun. Days have gone by and Stanley finds something, something nice! I recommend this book to all children and adults that like nice twisting stories.
Rating: Summary: A Hole A Day, Keeps Freedom Away... Review: Do you like realistic-fiction books with simply remarkable adventures? Well, if you do, you should read the book called Holes, by Louis Sacher. This story is about an over weight kid called Stanley Yelnats. Stanley is pretty poor, likes animals, and is kind to other people. It all started one day when he took a pair of shoes from a famous baseball player with out knowing it. Later on that day the police caught him and he was sent to a place called Camp Green Lake. There was no lake in Camp Green Lake. The whole camp was, in fact, just a petite encampment in the middle of nowhere. Every day, Stanley and his companions: Zero, Armpit, X-ray, and Zigzag have to dig a hole 5 feet in length of every way! This was said that it would improve your character, but is that really factual? One day, when Stanley was digging his hole, he found a lipstick container that had KB printed on it. That was when he thought that maybe digging holes was for another reason like to find treasures from along time ago. Is Stanley correct, or is he mistaken? To find out, read the book! I really recommend this book to everyone because, the author keeps the story exciting and only inform the huge secret at the ending. So, if you think this book sounds interesting, get it now!!!

He can either go to Camp Green Lake or prison. He has never been to camp before. Stanley decided to go to camp. At Camp Green Lake they have to dig during the heat of the day. They are allowed to take one four-minute shower daily. They dig their holes in a lake that has been dried up for over one hundred years. Every so often a truck comes to fill the the boys' canteens. The boys have two set of clothes, one for digging, and one for lounging. All the boys sleep on cots that are in a cabin. Each cabin has a counselor, and in Stans, its Mr. Pendanski.
