Summary: Holes By:~Daysha Willis~And~Shaylene Thompson~
Review: The first thing that happens in this book is when Stanley gets arrested for stealing shoes and gets sent to Camp Greenlake. When he arrives at Camp Greenlake he digs his first hole, and discovers what his life is going to be like. Stanleys great grandfather doesn't complete his bargain with Madam Zeroni, and he gets cursed. Stanley makes a bargain with Zero to teach him how to read and write. In the past Miss Katherine falls in love with Onion Sam. As a result of their love Onion Sam gets killed and Miss Katherine becomes Kissin Kate Barlow, the outlaw.

Some of the events in this novel were unrealistic. Out of many things there were three unrealistic things that we liked the best. The three are that a yellow spotted lizard can kill you, that the Warden has camp green lake, and that there are two oak trees in the middle of the desert. The first most unrealstic thing was that a yellow spotted lizard can kill you. Usually when you walk up to a lizard it runs away. The second most unrealistic thing is that the warden has camp green lake without anybody knowing. It's almost impossible to keep a secret without anybody telling or knowing about it.The third most unrealsitic thing is that there are two trees oak trees that can live in the desert. They would need water somehow and it never rains at camp greenlake.

Overall I think this book is really good. When you read it you don't want to stop. You want to find out what happens next.

Review: The genre of this book is adventure fiction. Holes is about a boy who was innocent, but the law proved him guity. He was sent to a camp, where they dug holes. Stanley(main character) meets a boy named Zero and they become friends. I would recommend this book for someone to read when they are in a mood to go on an adventure.

Summary: HOLES by Louis Sachar
Review: The main charecters in holes are Stanley Yelnats (caveman), Hector Zeroni(zero),Mr.Sir, Mr.Pendanski, and the Warden. Holes takes place in a camp named camp Camp Green Lake, but the lake had dried up years ago. The only structures around are two trees, the Wardens quarters, a few tents, a recreation room, and a lot of holes. The camp is for building charector, or is it? Stanley is framed of stealing a important pair of shoes. He can't help to think that it was the curse from his n-good-dirt-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather.Ithought the book Holes was a great book for ages 10-14. Holes was great,I couldn't put it down. It is very suspenseful and you will love the way Louis Sachar writes

Summary: Holes is an imaginative story.
Review: The name of my book is Holes by Louis Sachar. The beginning of this book has little action. It tells the background of Stanley Yelnats and his grandfather which leads into the ironic ending. But until the last 20 chapters nothing out of the ordinary happens. Thhe plot has a cool twist to it. The ending could have been different, but when Zero told Caveman that he was the reason Caveman was there that was breath-taking. If there is only one thing you will learn from this book it is to never give up. It is never too late to change even if you are in a bad situation.

Summary: Holes
Review: The novel Holes by Louis Sachar is clearly a work of genius. This novel is filled with humor, wit, and life lessons. The character names are hard to keep up with, however if read with an open mind, it isn't that difficult. Sachar writes tremendous children's novels and Holes is living proof of this. This is an outstanding work of art.
Many literary devices are used in this novel. There are quite a few motifs: the lipstick container, the lizards, and the onions are a few. Some symbols strongly used in this novel are the names of the characters themselves. Zero, X-Ray, Caveman, Twitch, Armpit, and ZigZag are some examples. The fact that these characters were given nicknames by their peers is a symbol in itself, symbolizing their belonging with the rest of the group. Sachar employs mystery and suspense significantly to keep the reader guessing at what will happen next. Dual stories/plots is another device used by Sachar to make the novel more effective. Sachar uses many devices in this novel and they are all important to the development of it.
Louis Sachar has always written children's novels and therefore writes to appeal to the children. He creates nicknames for characters, zany and humorous plots, and overall confusing nonsense to keep the reader interested throughout. Louis Sachar is a great author and even though some have not heard of him yet, his writing will soon infect the world for the better.

Summary: My review of holes
Review: The novel Holes from Louis Sachar published in 2002 is about a boy called Stanley Yelnats. He is punished for a crime he did not commit and is sent to Camp Green Lake a juvenile correction facility in the desert. At Camp Green Lake he is forced to dig a hole every day to improve his character. He soon notices that there is more to these holes than just the improvement of his character. He finds a friend Zero who is the first friend in his life. Then suddenly Zero runs away in the desert. Stanley wants to save him and follows him into the hot and dangerous desert. He finds him the same day. Will they survive in the desert and all its dangers? How will they get back home? And will they find out why they are digging these holes?
I had no problems reading the book because the language and sentences are relatively easy and there is a vocabulary help under the pages.
In my opinion the book is suitable for youths between 14 and 16 because you need to understand a lot of facts to understand the book.
The novel holes is a quite interesting book about friendship and one of the better books I read at school. But I would not read it in personal.
I would recommend this book to English classes because the book is not too bad and there are lot of worse books that your teachers can make you read.

Summary: Kendra' and Megan's Review
Review: The novel Holes is a exciting book about two boys named Stanley and Zero. There are four important and exciting events in the story. The first event is Stanley getsarrested for stealing shoes and is sent to Camp Green Lake. The second event is he arrives at Camp Green Lake and meets the boys and learns the rules. The third event is Stanley andZero make a deal that eventually causes them both to run away. The forth event is Stanley runs into some yellow-spotted lizards.

There were three lessons of life within this novel. They are life isn't always fair ,not everyone in the world is nice, and truthis strangerthan fiction. The first lesson is life isn't always fair.Stanley didn't chose to go to Camp Green Lake but he had to pay for the crime. The second lesson is not everyone in the world is nice.People weren't nice to Stanley when he first arrived. The third lesson is truth is stranger than fiction.Even though they didn't have any proof. There are many lessons of life that describe this book but I think that these are the best three, life isn't always fair, not everyone in the world is nice, and truth is stranger than fiction.

Overall I really liked this book. Iliked this book because it was very interesting.
