Rating: Summary: Holes Review: The book was OK they could of made it better if they took that annoying IF ONLY song. Other than that it was good. If you have spare time you should read this book. my favorite part was when Stanley took the truck and drove into a hole.
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Time On The Book Review: The book was okay, but very badly written. I somewhat enjoyed the book as I was reading it, but afterwards I thought "Why did I read this?" For young readers, I reccomend more INTELLIGENT reading. Not books about some treasure that you KNOW the good guy is going to win. Watch the movie, instead, which is in theaters now. It is a lot better than the book. The book is also unrealistic. How can someone live off of peaches that have been sitting in a boat for one hundred years and only just barf? Wouldn't it be a lot more serious? And American justice is much better than that stated. Camp Greenlake would never exist in this country. I felt that I was reading a book that happened in a foreign Communist movie. So if you're going to waste [money] plus shipping on your book ..., don't! Waste that same amout of money for a movie ticket. I seriously say that the movie is better than the book.
Rating: Summary: An Alright book Review: The book wasn't all that bad. I think the only thing that wasn't that good is how the book ended. They should of had to make it home by them selfs. Overall, I think that this would be a book most everybody would enjoy. I would recommend this to people who are looking for a good book .

Rating: Summary: Awesome Adolescent Literature! Review: The book, Holes, by Louis Sachar is definately must read material for young adolescents. My 6th grade students have all read it, and beg for me to read it aloud to them! Its captivating chapters hold their interest until the end. The chapters are also short in length which makes this a great book for a read-aloud session. The characters are down-to-earth, and adolescents can easily relate to them. The protagonist is Stanley, a chubby boy who is more a loner than anything. He feels others pick on him and he eludes low self esteem, but he loves his parents, and doesn't want to worry them. Because of a crime, Stanley is sentenced to go to Camp Green Lake, a correctional facility for boys. There, he is to dig holes, which will help him build character. While at the facility, Stanley loses weight and gains strength which increases his self-esteem, learns who he can trust and how to handle unruly boys, he teaches one of the other boys to read, and meets a loyal friend. Holes entraps the audience too by giving some fictional historical background from the past century. Camp Green Lake used to be home to the wild outlaw woman, Kissin' Kate Barlow. While digging holes and building character, Stanley and his friend discover a treasure they believe to have belonged to Kate. The problem is that while uncovering the buried treasure, they are caught by Camp Green Lake's Warden. Read the book to find out what happens to the treasure and to Stanley and his friend!
Rating: Summary: I Hate Camp Review: The boy makes a friend with someone else at the camp. They both run away. They find the Big Thumb (if you want to know what this is.... read the book). This book was exciting. You could read this in third or fourth grade.
