Rating: Summary: Holes Review Review: Stanley Yelnats was a boy who always got picked on in school. One day he was walking home from school and saw a pair of old, smelly shoes. His father had been trying to recycle old shoes so he took them. Little did he know they were Clyde Livingston's. Stanley was sent to Camp Greenlake because they thought he stole the shoes. There, Stanley had to dig a hole everyday. They had to be five feet in every direction. Stanley's friend from camp ran away and after a week so did Stanley. They found each other and headed for the Big Thumb. There they lived on onions and dirty water. They had a sack to fill with onions and water. When they made it back their plan was to dig for something that the warden might want, so they could figure out why the warden made them dig holes everyday. By working together they were able to solve the mystery of the holes.
Rating: Summary: J's reviewDalles Review: Stanley Yelnats was framed and went to Camp Green Lake. There he met the other boys and formed a friendship with Zero. Then they both ran off and had to come back for real water. Then they found what the Warden had been looking for for years. After that Stanley's lawyer came and got Stanley and Zero out of Camp Green Lake forever.
Rating: Summary: A crime he didn't commit. Review: Stanley Yelnats was framed for a crime he didn't commit. When he was walking home from school one day, shoes just fell from the sky. Actually, he walked under an overpass. The shoes were old and smelly, something his dad was looking for because he was trying to invent something that could recycle old shoes. So Stanley started running and the cops pulled up next to him and told him that those shoes were stolen. The shoes belonged to a famous baseball player. This went to court and Stanley told the judge his story. No one believed they just fell from the sky so Stanley was given a choice, jail or Camp Green Lake for character building. He had never been to camp before but this is no fun camp. There they say that if you dig a hole everyday in the hot sun, it will build character. When Stanley finds something, the Warden makes them dig at the same spot. Stanley gets suspicious what happens when you find something. Are they really digging for character at Camp Green Lake or for something else much bigger than they expected. Find out in this great book.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: Stanley Yelnats was given a choice in the story Holes. The judge said, "You may go to jail or you may go to Camp Green Lake." This pretty much says it all. Stanley was from a poor family and had never been to camp before, so he chose camp. When Stanley goes to Camp Green Lake, he discovers that every day each boy, each inmate, must dig a hole five feet wide, by five feet long and by five feet in depth. Why? I don't get why they needed to do that. Stanley makes a friend, Zero. He was nicknamed that because this is exactly what the world finds him to be. These boys take you on a real adventure which I will not tell you. They run into everything from the pig,the lullaby, the onions and even the sneakers. Holes is full of mystery, suspense, action and a lot of humor mixed in. You should read this book. Louis Sachar has a very interesting way of writing a realistic tall tale. He makes you want to find out what happens next. The ending is as exciting as the trip through the story.
Rating: Summary: Holes by Louis Sachar Review: Stanley Yelnats was given a choice, jail or Camp Green Lake. A camp. Just think of it as a big summer camp full of bad kids. At least that's what Stanley thought after being prosecuted for stealing Clyde Livingston's prize shoes. As soon as he gets to Camp Green Lake he knows that this will be a very long and strenuous 18 months. Digging holes five feet deep five feet wide was not Stanley's favorite pass time especially since he was over weight. During the book Stanley meets some very interesting characters that teach him a lot about life and how to not take even the littlest things for granted and how important your family is. To me Holes was an easy read that really dragged me into the story. Holes would be a great summer read for third graders and up.
Rating: Summary: "You're not in the Girls Scouts anymore" Review: Stanley Yelnats was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That was always the problem with the Yelnats family. Stanley was being sent to jail because he was accused of a crime that he did not committ. Unfortunately for Stanley it was either jail time, or Camp Green Lake. Luckily, Stanley had never been to Camp before, so this seemed like a wise alternative for him. When Stanley arrives at camp he encounters many people and places that will forever change his life. Stanley learns the true meaning of friendship and what loyalty truly means. Stanley realizes that receiving a nickname is a sign of respect, no matter how demeaning the nickname is. Holes is a heartwarming story of a young man coming to terms with responsibilty and self awareness. This is a heartwarming story that students and adults will equally enjoy.
Rating: Summary: A Perfect Read!!!! Review: Stanley Yelnats was only trying to help his father when a shoe fell on his head and he got brought before court for stealing it. Stanley gets a choice, however, he can go to jail or he can go to Camp Green Lake, a camp for juvineile boy cirminals. That's all I will say- the rest of this superbly written book should not be given away! But there is one thing you should know- as a mystery this book is wonderful, as a novel this book is fantastic, as both, it can't be beat.
Rating: Summary: Thip Holes Review: Stanley Yelnats was the main person in the story. He was a boy that was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They thought he had stolen sweet feet shoes. He told the judge that the shoes had fallen from the sky. They didn't believe him and he told him that he can go to jail or to Camp Green Lake. He told the judge tha he had never been to camp.
Rating: Summary: "Holes" Review: Stanley Yelnats was unjustly sent to a boy's detention camp. The camp's name is Camp Green Lake. The problem with the camp's name is that there is no longer a lake anymore. Now, there's a lot of holes because the boys must spend everyday digging holes exactly 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep.Day after day the warden makes the boys dig as though the warden is looking for something . Stanley and his best friend feel that there is a mystery to solve . Will they solve the mystery? Find out by reading the rest of this exsiteing book.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Stanley Yelnats was unjustly sent to Camp Green Lake, and he doesn't like it there. One of his friends, Zero, is his only hope to get home. Holes is a book full of adventure and excitement. Read for yourself to find out whether or not Stanley gets home.
