Summary: A Holey Mystery
Review: Stanley Yelnats accused of stealing a pair of shoes from a famous baseball player who had donated the shoes to charity. He was sentenced to a year of work at Camp Green Lake. When Stanley arrives at Camp Green Lake, he sees a whole differentworld. There was no lake at the camp, only miles and miles of dried dirt filled with holes. Stanley's assignment: He is to dig one hole every single day for a year. Stanley meets many other boys, but one caught his eye. His name was Zero. Stanley and Zero get to know each other. They become very good friends until something happened. Zero had started a conflict and hit one of the adults with a shovel. As soon as he did that, he mysteriously walked off and never came back. That night while it was lightning and thundering, Stanley saw a mountain in the shape of a thumb. He decided to go look for Zero and take refuge on that mountain known as God's Thumb. Stanley finds Zero, and they find food and water. Remembering an old story, Stanley recalls that there should be a treasure buried somewhere on the Green Lake campus. Stanley and Zero walk back to the camp. Finding the treasure, they are released. They both live happy lives in the end and never plan to go back to Camp Green Lake again! Recommended for people who like mysteries and adventures.

Review: Stanley Yelnats and his entire family were cursed by a gypsy more than several hundred years ago. This curse put Stanley in a camp for being caught stealing. At this camp, Camp Green Lake, you have to dig a hole every day while you're there. Stanley relizes that something strange is going on when he finds an object that the warden is very pleased about. After digging holes everyday, Zero, one of Stanley's friends' runs away. Stanley then goes after him. They both seek refuge on a mysterious mountain. They both wind up being heroes and leave the camp.

This story has many lessons on life. There are many lessons thoughout this novel. They are putting others in in front of yourself, stealing gets you no where, and the past repeats itself. The first lesson is put others in front of yourself. When Zero ran away from camp, Stanley risks his life to find him. The second lesson is stealing get you no where. Zero took some shoes from a homeless shelter, and Stanley gets caught: Zero attemps to try to get another pair of shoes, and he is then caught. The third lesson is the past repeats itself. Linda and Trout lost a fortune and tried to get it back by stealing from an outlaw. The warden is also looking for a fortune. The lesson is don't be greedy. There were many other lessons throught out this novel, but these three are the ones I like the most. Put yourself in front of others, stealing gets you no where, and the past repeats itself.

Holes is a wonderful book for all ages. I love the story itself, and I'd read it a million times if I had to.

Review: Stanley Yelnats and his family have bad luck because of his no - good - dirty - rotten - pig - stealing - great - great - grandfather a family joke that could happen to be real. Stanley was at the wrong place at the wrong time when a famous baseball players shoes fell from the sky and Stanley got accused for stealing when he picked them up. Because of this Stanley got sent to Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake is a camp for bad kids and every day you have to dig a five by five foot deep hole at 4:00 a.m. At Camp Green Lake Stanly meets X- ray, Squid, Armpit, Magnet, Zigzag, and Zero who becomes Stanley's closest friend. Read the book to find out what happens to Stanley and Zero in the in book Holes.

If you like funny and serious books at the same time then you should read Holes. I grade this book a five star because this is without a doubt the best book I've ever read. Louis Sachar writes funny and serious books and I like those kinds of books a lot. In the book Holes the conflict is Stanley vs. the warden. The theme in this book is people who look bad really can be a nice person. I hope you will enjoy Louis Sachars - very -funny - well - written and extremely good book, Holes.

Summary: A Story that has it All
Review: Stanley Yelnats and his family have never had anything but bad luck, so it's not really a surprise to him when he is falsely accused and convicted of theft. Given the choice of jail or Camp Green Lake, Stanley chooses Green Lake because he's never been to camp before. Unfortunately, Camp Green Lake doesn't have a lake and it isn't really a camp. It's a juvenile detention facility. And to build character, the warden, who paints her fingernails with snake venom, has each "camper" dig a hole five feet deep by five feet wide by five feet long every day, even Saturdays and Sundays. What Stanley and the rest of the boys don't know is that the warden isn't just building character, she's looking for the lost buried treasure of outlaw, Kissing Kate Barlow. So begins Holes, a terrific, action filled story, full of great characters with strong voices, exciting, funny scenes and enough twists and turns to keep your kids reading non-stop to the end of the book. Louis Sachar has written a masterpiece full of humor, insight, wisdom and the triumph of the human spirit and he deserves all the awards this book won. A must read for children aged 9 - 12 and a great addition to all home libraries.

Review: Stanley Yelnats believes his family has a curse on all the men in the family. When his father just can't seem to get any of his expieriments to be sucussful, the curse seems to be correct again. One day when Stanley Yelnats is walking, a pair of shoes drops from a bridge above him. The curse seems to erupt again! The shoes happen to be a stolen pair of shoes. Stanley is then taken to court. He can choose to either to to juvie or can attend Camp Greenlake. Stanley chooses Camp Greenlake. There seems to be one problem about Camp Greenlake....there's no lake. Stanley realizes this is no camp. Day after day he digs holes to "build character" out in the hot sun. Why exactly are the boys digging holes? What's the secret behind Camp Greenlake? Can Stanley prove he's innocent? Can they break the family curse?
Holes is an awesome book for anyone, any age, any gender. The author does an awesome job of telling about two stories at one time. It has an awesome ending abot the story and in the end the author finds everything to tie it all togeher, to make one big happy ending.

Summary: Review on Holes...
Review: Stanley Yelnats ends up in a juvenile detention center ironically named "Camp Green Lake." The lake dried up a hundred years ago, because of a drought. Each inmate at Camp Green Lake must dig a hole each day, 5 feet deep, 5 feet wide. In the story, we do not know anyone from other groups, only Group D (the one Stanley ends up in) so we don't know other characters' names, and there are supposedly more than 2 counselors, but we really only know about "Mr. Sir" and Mr. Pendanski. The Warden's name isn't known until the near end, or if you have a good sense of clues when reading. The mere reason Stanley was arrested and sent there is because a police officer found him carrying some shoes that Stanley did not know were being auctioned. When our friend is digging some holes, we find out his great-great-grandfather's story. I do not want to bring you ahead, but, we never find out about some problems (e.g. who Barf Bag is, what happens to the camp...) Anyway, read the book. This is a good choice for a reader.

Summary: A Wonderful Story
Review: Stanley Yelnats ends up in Camp Green Lake, a camp for "bad boys", after a misunderstanding. The "camp" is set on a piece of land that used to be "the biggest lake in Texas!". But that's hard to believe when Stanley ends up digging holes all over the dried up lake to "improve his character".

Stanley blames all his bad luck to his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather!". Stanley tells of the Yelnats' long history of "rotten luck" in the book, but in the end is saved by one of these legends.

This story is great. The way the plots were interwoven was amazing and made it all the more interesting. The more overlapping that appeared in the book, the more I wanted to read. You should DEFINATLY check out this book!

Summary: My Review of Holes by Louis Sachar
Review: Stanley Yelnats finds himself in the middle of what used to be the largest lake in Texas. Of course now the lake is dried up and used for the boys who chose to come here as opposed to going to jail. Stanly chose Camp Green Lake, where he and the other boys dig 5 foot wide and 5 feet deep holes all over the dried up lake. There are boys in Stanley's camp who seem to find a lot of trouble and Stanley seems to find all of the punisment. Which is ironic since Stanley is at Green Lake on accident. There are a couple of stories intertwined throughout the book about Stanley's great grandfather and the history of Green Lake.
The author does a good job at putting the reader at the scene. The reader will definitely understand how hot and miserable it is at the Camp Green Lake. I will say the end is something you will have to find out for yourself. The book is interesting and brings out a lot of feelings for the young boys at Camp Green Lake.

Review: Stanley Yelnats gets accused of stealing some shoes. They belonged to a professional baseball player. He was sent to "Camp Green Lake" to serve his punishment. His great-great-no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-grandfather was cursed by a blind Gypsy Madam Zeroni. There are several connections between the past and the present throughout this whole book. If you don't pay attention you won't understand, so you better pay attention if you really want to know what's going on in this book.
There were several lessons that were learned in this book. One of the lessons was that if you don't do things you say will God will punish you however he shall choose,like he did to Stanley's grandfather. Another lesson is that if you have an idea about going and looking for someone when they run away; you should do it like Stanley did in this book. I can't tell you who or what ran away because you'll have to read the book to find that out, but what I'm saying is go with whatever you believe in. There are several things I could say about this book, but that would just give the whole thing away.
If you want to read an outstanding book you should read this book. It's an excellant book. It will leave you in amazement. So go, pick this book up and start reading it. You won't want to put it down once you start.

Review: Stanley Yelnats gets thrown into court and sentenced to boot camp after a shoe falls on his head. Sound crazy? It's not. Plagued by his great great grandfather, Stanley is convicted of stealing a shoe of a famous baseball player that was being sold for charity. He goes to Camp Green Lake, a place that sounds nice but is awful. Boys who attend Green Lake (it is kind of like juvy) have to dig a 5 foot deep and 5 foot wide hole everyday in tough dirt in the blazing sun. A series of events that makes up this story sends him on a journey to the mountains, with a friend he will never forget. If you like lizards, the color orange (you'll understand, and a flat out good reading, opt for Holes by Louis Sachar.
