Summary: holes
Review: Beyond all doubt this is one of the best books ever written. The book is about a boy called Stanley Yelnats (thats a palindrome, for those who know what a palindrome is) and his family has been eternaly cursed with bad luck. When Stanley is framed for stealing a baseball players shoes, he is sent to a camp called camp greenlake, and the last thing the place is is a lake. Like Stanley's family, the lake is eternaly cursed by having no rain for a hundred years. The camp supposedly builds character by having you dig- you guessed it- holes. Stanley then meets a boy, nicknamed zero by his peers. Sounds good? Well, combine this with a load full of relationships and you get a complex and stunning plot, which, as you may have guessed, is more than five feet deep. And on top of it is humor that is witty and maybe a bit 'dry'.

I suggest sharing this book with parents so the whole family can enjoy. Plus, they're always good to ask questions to because the book is complex.

I hope you enjoyed this must-read-can't-put-down book!

I liked the book because of its appearance why are they digging holes and unlike other books Holes you never know whats going to happen at the end.

Holes is a creative book with fun words and some kindhearted characters. You should read Holes, because it's exciting and action packed.
It's about a boy named Stanley who is sent to Camp Green Lake. Actually it is not really a camp, it's a bad kids camp. Only kids who do bad stuff go there, they have a choice between going to jail and going to Camp Green Lake. The bad part is that they have to dig a hole everyday exactly five feet wide and five feet deep! When Zero, one of the boys runs away Stanley has to try to find Zero, but it won't be easy, there are hungry poisonous lizards on the loose in the hot desert.
Louis Saccar has already written a couple fascinating books, but this one is definitely the most enjoyable. You should go get Holes and read, read, and read. I'll tell you something you won't want to stop! Make sure you don't fall in a hole, you won't get out.

Review: Book review

In the book called HOLES is a really good book. This book is by the author of Louis Sachar. In the book the holes a kid named Stanley went to a camp that was called camp green lake. That camp is a juvenile camp for bad kids and his bad luck got him there. Just because the call it camp green lake doesn't mean there is a lake. Long time ago there used to be a lake but now it's just a dried up lake. At this lake all of the kiss are limited on water at that camp is the only place that has food in water in the hundred-mile range. So they don't need to worry about any body running away.

At this camp on the dried up lake that has been dried up for about a hundred years or more all of the kids have to dig. They dig holes each day that have to be five feet across by feet deep. There is not point in doing this, but the kids just have too. Stanley gets really suspicious as the cap days goes one each day having to dig up holes and wants to figure out the real point in having to dig in the that earths surface in the dried up lake. Stanley also as the days go by starts to become really dehydrated. Because of it always being so hot, sometimes reaching up to be in the hundreds. Stanley goes through many tragedies ant the camp and starts to figure out ways to want to some how stop digging. This book is a book that will get you hooked for sure.

Review: Book: HOLES
Author: Louis Sacher
Number of pages: 233

Paperback

Imagine you were walking down the side walk and a pair of old smelly shoes fell right on your head and you didn't know exactly where they came from well in the book Holes that's exactly what happens to Stanley yelnats.
The main characters in Holes are Stanley yelnats, zero and the rest of the boys in D tent at camp green lake there is no shade at all and the boys have to dig holes that are five feet wide and five feet in diameter and after they have finished there individual holes they only get a four min. showers witch isn't enough for armpit (another boy in d tent and telling buy his name I think you can tell that he smells) the reason the boys have to dig holes is because the warden said that it would make them build some character.
I really really love this book because it's full of adventure. My favorite part in the book is when Zero gets in trouble for fighting and Mr.Pendanceski was making fun of zero and calling him stupid well I think zero got a little tired of it so he took his shovel and hit Mr.Pendanceski right across the face with it and with that little incident Mr.Pendanceski wont be making fun of people for a while.
I think a very touching part in the book is when Stanley runs off to go and find zero because after the incident with Mr.Pendanceski Zero had ran off and that really got to me because it showed what a good friend Stanley really is.
I would recommend this book to anybody because I think that it teaches a good lesson about not stealing and about how good of a friend you really can be to anybody just like Stanley was a good friend to Zero.

Summary: Review of Holes
Review: Both my son (age 8) and I thoroughly enjoyed this extremely perceptive book. Holes communicates with elegant simplicity important messages for kids - and adults - about friendship, hardship, pain and redemption. Kids can relate to Stanley and ultimately be empowered by his story. We are major Harry Potter fans, but would enjoyed this book even more.

Review: Brian Griggs Class 5-E 12/2/03 Book review

The book I'm reviewing is about HOLES
and it was written by Louis Sachar. The main character is Stanley Yelnats, or if you prefer his nickname Caveman. The problem in the story is that Stanley is accused for stealing a famous baseball player's shoes, his name is Clyde Livingston or hi nickname Sweetfeet. I think the book was great and that's why I'd recommend the book HOLES.

P.S.I dug this book a five star "*****"rating.

Review: By: Louis Sacher
" You're not in Girl Scouts anymore," stated a stern Mr. Sir. Stanley Yelnats, the protagonist in the book Holes, by Louis Sacher, didn't know how right he was. Camp Green Lake was settled on a large, dried-up lake, were "bad boys" were turned to "good boys" The counselors think that if you take a bad kid out, make him dig holes that are 5x5x5and nearly kill him, then he turns in to a good boy. But correctional facility is only the camps public face. The warden, who's name is unknown, is looking for the bandit, Kissin' Kate Barlown's buried treasure. Little did she know that the treasure was stolen from Stanley Yelnats the 1st, who is Stanley's great-great-grand father.
This book gets really exciting when Stanley and his friend, Zero, climb up and back down the mountain Stanley named "God's Thumb." They start to dig in the hole where Stanley dug in and found a shiny lipstick top a few weeks earlier. They find a suitcase, but before they could open it, the warden catches them. However, they soon notice that they are standing in a nest of highly deadly yellow spotted lizards! Hours go by with no sign of escape. Will the kids survive? Who is the warden? What is in the suitcase? You will have to buy the book and read it to find out.

Review: Camp Green Lake is a very unpleasent place. The vegetation hardly grows, the dirt is extremely hard, and there aren't any lakes there. Maybe a million years ago, but not today. Why would anyone want to go there? They wouldn't have a choice. They are sent there insted of prison. But prison mite be a better choice. The days are are hot,the food stinks, the sploosh maybe tastes good, but thats another story. What could be worse! Everyday the campers {or prisoners }have to dig a 5by5by5 foot hole. Screwy, aint it? Now lets turn to our main character, shall we? Stanley Yelnats is a very nice and intelligent young man. He was arrested for stealing a pair of shoes. Not any 'ol pair but a famous baseball player's.He said they fell from the sky. Of course nobody believed him, but unknownst to them and known to us they really fell from the sky. He was sent to Camp Green Lake. Don't blame Stanley, blame his no-good-dirty-roten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. What's that you ask? Find out when you read the book Holes!
