Summary: Even my 10 year old reluctant reader was hooked!
Review: My son hates to read, but he loves Holes. I've been reading it aloud to him for the past week. He has also read some of the book to himself which he finds easy to do, given the short paragraph format and not too challenging vocabulary. The plot moves quickly, with each short chapter ending with a "cliff hanger" that compels us to read on. It's a winner!

Summary: great for 5th grade boys
Review: My son loved this book. He read it with me over the summer and really learned some things about hard work and fairness. Scary at times, very sad to see these boys being treated so poorly, but a great lesson in respecting differences and helping others less fortunate. Falsely accused and sent to punishment worse than many prisons, the main character learns how to survive despite the odds against them, and they do the right thing! Very inspiring and great lessons to learn!

Review: My son read this book after seeing the movie and absolutely loved it. His father and sister and even grandmother were in line to read it. This book is not just for kids, although kids love it. Runs very close to the movie. Only slight differences.
This is an excellent book for anyone.

Review: My son's teacher let him borrow this book and it was so good we had to buy it. This writter is fantastic and really engrosses you in the adventure of Stanley Yelnats. Buy it!

Summary: Favorite of my Classroom!
Review: My students begged me to "READ ON!" during story time. They loved this book.(As did I) The book has so many twists, and it is not until the very end that the author fills in the "holes". Every teacher needs this book to make their collection complete!

Review: My students have read Holes for the past 3 years. Many of them agree that the book is better than the movie! They enjoyed pointing out the differences between the novel and the movie. Don't miss out on Louis Sachar's best book ever!

Summary: great book!
Review: My students wanted to read it...but the school library said they were too young. So before I felt that I could reccomend it to the parents, I had to read it myself. It was GREAT! The various threads of the story wind to a great conclusion. After reading it, I felt that it was appropriate for my students (3rd) grade...any of the students who wouldn't want to read or it couldn't understand the story would put it down rather quickly.

Review: My teacher read "Holes" to us because he had heard good things about it and decided that we needed to hear it and I have to admit that our whole class begged him to keep reading after we completed the chapter! We skipped a lot of English work to finish the book! Everyone loved it and it was VERY interesting! I liked the way everything was linked... It was a pretty good book.

It had just enough adventure and violence so that the people who like that stuff enjoy it but it is not offensive so that the people that don't like that will enjoy it also. Please read it!!!!
