Rating: Summary: It is a good book Review: As StanleyYelnats was sentenced to Camp Green Lake juvenile correctional facility he would be in for he time the of his life. Stanley Yelnats has just been sentenced to eighteen months at camp green lake correctional facility For stealing a pair of shoes from a poor house. the beginning of the 1999 Newbary book awed.I liked this book because it has a way of leading you from sentence to sentence from chapter to chapter you always want to keep reading.I would recommend this book to all readers especially those who enjoy real fiction! It would be a shame if this book were to be forgotten never to be read again. But the chances of that happing to the 1999 Newbary book winner are not very high. If I were to give this book a rating from one to five stars I would give it .......**** four stars ,The book is not the best book I have ever read but it comes very close. It is very exciting, and it is very well written.
Rating: Summary: An unusual book with a very satisfying conclusion. Review: At first I didn't like it very well, (but I'm a school librarian so I persisted) and midway through the book I began to see the genious of it. An alert reader will soon learn that every little detail in this book is significant. They all fit together beautifully to a very satisfying conclusion. It was fun to watch Stanley's character develop throughout the book. I will definitely recomend it to my young readers.
Rating: Summary: The best book i have ever read Review: At first I found it very boring because it's written in English and I'm from Germany but I have read many books but no book was as good as HOLES by Louis Sachar. We have read it in our English lessons. But when I finished the first part it was exciting and I couldn't stop reading. Our homework was to read a few pages. I find this was the most exciting, most interesting and the funniest homework I have ever had to do. What I found very good was that 3 stories are well-combined. Buy this book! Immeditaly!
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: At first I kept deciding not to get this book because the plot didn't sound very interesting, but since it is so highly praised and recommended I decided to try it. Was I glad I did! In this tightly-woven story (or two stories), everything works out so well in the end that it's quite surprising! This is a great book to read more than once to get all the little catches again. Plus it's funny, and it never gets boring! A must-read!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful Review: At first I thought it was a bit dark for the age level, however, one into the book it was facinating and I could not put it down. I'm glad it won the newbury award!
Rating: Summary: It's a small world Review: At first I thought this book was going to tell me about ways to dig a hole. I was wrong! Holes is an awesome book-- it just takes a few minutes per day to find out how good it is. The author Louis Sachar had an awesome imagination to write such an awesome story. I loved the way he made many connections. If you take the time to read the book and really pay attention to what's happening, you will see that I am definitely right! So don't miss out on it!
Rating: Summary: My Favorite! Review: At first I thought this wasn't going to be as good as Harry Potter , but after reading all of it I instantly changed my mind!
Rating: Summary: How interesting can digging holes be? Review: At first I was pretty doubtful that a book about digging holes could be any good. It turns out that it is one of my favorites. Sachar literally leaves "holes" throughout the book that the reader learns as the different plots are revealed. It is a very clever way to put a story together, and therefore holds the reader's attention. "Holes" is definetely a good read.
Rating: Summary: a rainy day read Review: At first this book freaked me out 'cause it was kinda out there in a realistic way... but the more I read the more I got into it and at the end I decided it was a good book just different and strange in an enthralling sorta way
Rating: Summary: Lori and Tamara's Book Review Review: At the begining of the story Stanley was accused of stealing shoes. And was sent to Camp Green Lake. He arrives at Camp and learns the rules. Stanley diggs his first hole and finds something. His great, great, grandfather got cursed by a gypsy. Now they think Stanley's family is cursed. Stanley makes a deal with Zero to teach him to read and Zero has to dig half of his hole. Onion Sam and Miss Katherine fall in love. As a result Sam gets killed and Miss Katherine becomes an outlaw. Zero runs away from Camp and later Stanley comes after him. Stanley and Zero find refuge on God's Thumb. Stanley had many conflicts in this story. Three of the biggest were the Warden, Mr. Sir, And digging holes. The first conlict is the Warden not doing anything about the lizards. The second is Mr.Sir not giving him any water. The third opossing force was when he had to dig holes. This was an oppossing force because it was hot outside. We like this book because it had a lot of life lessons in it.Yes we like this book
