Rating: Summary: Holes is about a boy accused of stealing shoes. Review: It all started when Stanley Yelnats was accused of stealing Clyde Livingston's shoes. "Go to jail or camp," the judge had said. Stanley picked camp, Camp Green Lake. When my class read Holes by Louis Sachar, I felt as if I were there. In the hot, barren desert area of Camp Green Lake,Texas, where the story takes place,Stanley was sent to dig holes. He had claimed that his rotten, pig stealing great grandfather had been cursed, and that the whole Yelnats family had been cursed too, cursed with bad luck. That's why he was here at Camp Green Lake. Every day, Stanley has to dig one hole, five feet wide and five feet deep. While digging one day, Stanley uncovers a golden tube with K.B. inscribed on the bottom. "If you find anything interesting report it to me, if I like it I'll show it to the Warden. If the Warden likes it, you'll get the day off," Mr. Sir, (Stanley's counselor)had said. Stanley suspects that he is digging more that "to build character," they might be looking for treasure! I liked Holes because I thought the setting went well with the plot. The book was written so it made you want to keep going and going and never stopping. The characters were well drawn, and seemed so real that they came alive. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. It left you in the air with questions that weren't answered. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone, and I can clearly see that they would enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Holes: A review by Sara Teston Review: It all started with Staneys no good, dirty rotton, pig stealing great great grandfather. Stanley's father, Mr. Yelnats, is a man known for his fine work in finding a cure for foot oder. When Stanley tries to help out his father by stealing a pair of shoes to help his father with his work, he gets caught and has a choice whether to go to jail or Camp Green Lake. The only reason Stanley was caught was because of the curse. The curse was caused by Stanleys great great grandfather. ( The pig stealing one) So, Stanley chose to go to Camp Green Lake. He took a bus to Camp Green Lake. When he got there he was surprised to see nothing but tents, holes and Wardens. So, everyday, Stanley comes to the "desert" and digs a hole evry day to try to turn him into a good boy. One day, Stanley finds a friend named Zero. He finds a surprising fact about Zero, and his bad luck begins to change!!!!!!!! I encourage you to read this book! It's a great book!

Rating: Summary: Holes is a good book. Review: It is a very good book. It has an intellegent plot because everything goes together like a puzzle. It's almost like Sachar is telling you the story. I like his style and the way its told. There are cool looking lizards. I didn't like any of the charecters but I liked the story.

Rating: Summary: my favorite!!!! Review: it is cool and you just cant put it down! you should definetely read it
Rating: Summary: Best Book I ever Read!! Review: It is like a jigsaw puzzle that is fun but challenging. I say Louis did a great job thinking of how to write this book. I bet it was hard to do that.
Rating: Summary: Digging into Holes Review: It is like gold because it is fabulous, famous, and great to read. This book was harder to understand in the beginning because it kept going into flashbacks but in the end, the flashbacks made the story more interesting. As we were reading the book, we ran into many questions and that made the book so fascinating. It is similar to Harry Potter books because it was very suspenseful. This would be a good book to give to your cousin or a friend for a holiday--that's how much we recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A Truely humorous and heart warming novel Review: It is said that digging holes all day long will take a bad boy and turn him good. Or atleast thats the philosophy at Camp Green Lake. Which is a juvenille detention facility and just about the farthest thing from a lake. Soon after arrival Stanley and his friends of Tent-D begin to realize that the warden is in fact must be looking for something other than helping the boys to build character. But what could she possibly be looking for in a dried up lake in the middle of nowhere. As the plot thickens so does the readers suspense. Strange yet heart warming and funny you can almost never put the book down. Soon enough you find yourself rooting for Stanley Yelnats and his friends while at the same time learning a lesson in friendship, courage, and to always make the best of every situation no matter what curveballs life throws your way. As an inspiring and humorous novel, Holes by Louis Sachar has quickly become one of my favorite books.
