Summary: A great book for you teens!
Review: If you are a teenager looking for a fun and exiting book, Holes is a book for you. If a bad boy is threatened by his warden to did a huge hole each day, he is going to do it, and learn to be a good boy. Stanley Yelnats isn't a bad boy, he was convicted of a crime he didn't commite, which personaly i think stinks. Stanley gets fed up with digging Holes and runs away from camp, which the conslers do not care, because it is not lickly to survive with only a canteen full of water. I know I could never survive for 10 days like Stanley did with only a canteen full of water. Well maybe a could if i had someone with me like Stanly did, it gives you an extra ammount of energy. Un like me, luck was always on Stanley and his friend Zero's side, because they found food and water to survive on, but not until they went for 5 grueling days with 2 oz of water a day. If this book teaches you anything, I hope it is to stay out of trouble!

Summary: one "hot" book
Review: If you are adventurous, you will enjoy reading Holes. Sachar combines the experiences of friendship and suspense into an incredible book while uncovering a "big" secret in relation to the history of the novel.

The Yelnats have a history of bad luck, and Stanley's conviction for a crime he didn't commit sends him to a juvenile detention center at Camp Green Lake. He reaches the camp and discovers it has no lake at all and has been dry for over 100 years. The boys in the camp have to dig holes for punishment, and the warden claims this builds character. Stanley suspects something more and takes the reader on a incredible journey.

I would recommend this book to anyone, but it would particularly appeal to our reluctant, young readers who can relate to the thoughts and experiences of Stanley's journey which go from having "bad luck" to becoming our hero.

Summary: Down Wid Da Hole's
Review: If you are looking for a book that is a laugh out loud type of story, this is not the book for you. I did not like this book at all. If I had a choice of reading this book or sticking my tongue to a freezing pole in the winter time, I would have to choose the pole. The reson I didn't like this book is because "Stanley" (the main character) was sent to this camp, "Holes", because he was accused of stealing a pair of shoes, when they had actually fallen from the sky. When in fact they had fallen from the sky through some weird coincidence explained later in the story. I thought that was a load, along with other hard to believe facts, making this book too far fetched for me. Thank you and good night. ~Jucie

Summary: A must read!
Review: If you are looking for a good adventure try Louis Sachar's book Holes. I liked this book because the pace made me keep on reading to find what happened to Stanley. Like when they dig holes for punishment and Stanley Yelnats teaches his friend Zero to read and write. Then Hector (Zero) digs some of Stanley's hole everyday. If you like digging holes try Holes.

Summary: Not Too Shabby (at all)
Review: If you have been told Holes is an awful book (which I'm sure you haven't) erase that from your mind because it isn't true. Holes is a five star book. Holes, a national book award winner, is one of my all time favorite books, and it is written by one of my favorite authors, Louis Sachar (he's also written Sideways Stories From Wayside School, There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom, The Boy Who Lost His Face, Dogs Don't Tell Jokes etc.). This book is set in Texas and takes place at Camp Green Lake. If you think that sounds like a happy place you are defiantly wrong. Camp Green Lake isn't one of those summer camps you send you're kids to, it's a lakeless boot camp where Stanley Yelnats (main character or protagonist) is sent with a court charge of theft. And instead of jail Stanley decides to take the long and extended ride to Camp Green Lake. Each day each boy at camp digs a hole 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide in the hot desert sun. Stanley and the other boys at Camp Green Lake (Armpit, Magnet etc.) do receive water but only when Mr. Sir (armed guard) brings it to them. Otherwise the closest water supply is 100 miles away. Holes has many doors the reader must open. It is being recommended because is it is an adventurous story with many surprises. The warden (head of the camp) is an "old family friend" and Stanley is about to figure that out the hard way. Holes is also being recommended because it is so creative and stimulating. For example, Armpit, Magnet and Zero aren't names I hear everyday. I can only think of one flaw Holes has. It should be a little bit more descriptive. But even though some parts aren't as descriptive as others one's imagination runs wild descriptive or not. Another reason why I like this book is it is a drama, comedy and mystery all in one. Harry Potter books watch out because the mystery is yet to come.
