Rating: Summary: Camp Green Lake, Another name for Prison Review: I wasn't quite sure about reading this book when I first started it, I thought it was kind of boring. It wasn't until I found out that Camp Green Lake was a dry place with holes everywhere, that I got into the book. This book is full of surprises, you never know what's going to happen. Louis Sachar did a great job on the characters. After reading this book I'm not going to be so judgmental about other books in the future. Especially ones by Louis Sachar.
Rating: Summary: (...) review Review: I will give it stars because the book was confusing. It is a story within a story within a story. The story is aboat a boy named Stanley who is in a camp called Camp Green Lake. The camp is for bad boys. You also get nicknames like Barf Bag. Nobody would probably not like to be in the camp because you work in the desert digging holes in the blazing sun and the holes are 4ft by 4ft . You are risking yorself for somebody else trying to find a treasure. There is hard words like perseverance.Ibet you did not know the warden can be a girl. Did you know that there is yellow spotted lizards that is more deadly than a rattlesnake. But I would still reccomend it to a lot of people because some people like it.
Rating: Summary: HOLES LEAVES HOLES! Review: I won't tell you what happens at the end of this Newbery Medal winning book, but pay attention to every word. There are detials that, in one chapter, could be minor, but in another, could be major. Also, make sure you're a good thinker, because HOLES leaves holes for you and your brain to fill in yourself! Hope you don't get to hot from filling all those in!

Rating: Summary: Once the story started, no listener wanted it to end. Review: I work in an elementary school library and the librarian read chapter 4 out loud to third and fourth grade students. This led to a reserve list of 25 waiting for the book. With the school year drawing to a close, there was no way all the students would get a chance to read HOLES so we started a HOLES lunch group and I read the book over the student's 1/2 lunch time while they ate. No student ever missed a lunch group meeting! After each session the students tried to guess what would happen next. I have never had such an attentive group of students! Thank you Louis Sachar!
Rating: Summary: I'm a high school senior, and I adored it! Review: I work part time at the library after school. So when I saw that Louis Sacher had written a Newbery Award winning book I was absolutely delighted -- I've been reading his stuff -- heavens -- since I was tiny (starting with the Wayside School series) and it was almost a vindication to see him win this award. Anyway, I picked this book up at work and started reading it. Instead of shelving my books like I was supposed to I have to admit, I read the entire book! (forgive me Indiana taxpayers...) It was engrossing and absolutely wonderful. I didn't feel "talked down to" at all. The style was refreshing after such cumbersome novels at The Fountainhead and Heart of Darkness that I've read in English class, but the themes of Holes were just as complex. I recommend this book to anyone, no matter what the age.

Rating: Summary: Good Review Review: I would highly recommend this book. It is \very interesting. There is drama in this book. It is about a kid that is sent to boot camp and has to find something. The book is featuring Stanley Yeltz. The book is recommended for all ages 10 and up.
Rating: Summary: Great for ALL Ages! Review: I would highly suggest reading this book. It's a great story, with a great ending. I also highly suggest reading other books by Louis Sachar. A really fun story to read, and the book has little short stories about the main character's familie's past. Well written also. You have to read it. It's better than the movie. Oh, and Louis Sachar was in the movie! A small role as a bald man, who bought onion juice from Sam the Onion Man. Great book overall. -Rita
