Rating: Summary: Wacky, Weird, and Wonderful Review: This book, although completely nonsensical, to me makes perfect sense. The pesky yet persistant Sam I Am drives the reader to the point where he or she wants to eat this strange dish of green eggs and ham just to get Sam I Am off his or her back. The action and adventure of Sam I Am's many ideas to entice the doubting innocent bystander to partake of this odd food is quite hillarious and entertaining. The fact that Sam I Am thinks this dish could be better on a train, with a goat, or in a box gives a whole new meaning to eating. Maybe your kids will eat broccoli if you let them eat it with a fox. Who knows? It's worth a shot.
Rating: Summary: Try it! You'll LIKE IT! Review: I love, I love this book. It's a metaphor for taking risks, breaking out of our comfort zones, for living life on the edge. And it's a funny book, too. Yes, now I WOULD eat Green Eggs and Ham with a goat, on a boat, yes, I really would.
Rating: Summary: Children's writing perfected by Dr. Seuss... Review: Dr. Seuss displays perfection in the genre of children's literature in this timeless classic. It would be a difficult task to locate any person who can't relate to Seuss' nameless character who is bombarded by the tireless Sam I am with temptations of the now famous unappetizing dish of Green Eggs and Ham. The reader can't help but follow the action with an unquenchable interest in Sam I am's pursuit of his eating partner with offers of the meal with a fox, in a box, on a train, and in the rain. The story has a flawless flow as Seuss shows off his unmatched talent for rhyming which compliments brilliant illustrations keeping the reader hooked on every page. Capping off this story, which has entertained both young and old for decades, is an undeniable life lesson teaching us not to fear new things for we never know what we might enjoy in the long run. This classic can be enjoyed with a goat, on a boat, on a house, or even with a small rhyming rodent.
Rating: Summary: A Journey With Sam-I-Am Review: Green Eggs and Ham is a wonderful journey that takes you into the world of Seuss. The colorful and brilliant illustrations captivate the audience and his words will be the result of giggles in youngsters. Seuss takes us into a different world, complete with green eggs and playful banter between Sam-I-Am and his subject whom he tries to entice to eat the green eggs and ham. This book is a classic and will never go out of style.
Rating: Summary: I do like this book, Sam I am Review: One of the finest children's books ever written. I enjoyed this story so much, that I passed it on to my kids. I don't remember if I read this as a kid. I do remember having this read to me in 9th grade in Journalism class for our semster final. Kind of a wierd semster final right. Well, it proved to be an interesting day. I remember enjoying this book, and loving everything that the main character said. Dr. Seuss was quite a genuis for coming with imaginative ways to tell a story and make a point.
Rating: Summary: Ageless Indeed Review: Green Eggs and Ham is a fabulous example of repetition used well, and simple words aesthetically pleasing. As you get in rythm with the rhyming words, energy builds as does the story line. The illustrations are captivating and comical. All I can say is,what other author can twist letters forming phrases like, "learn of foo-foo snoo" or "how to play the hut zut." I dont recall ever reading books in which the author makes sentences so rich and textured, yet understandable to children. Undeniable talent lies in the realms of that man. He is indeed an ageless classic.
Rating: Summary: homework Review: I liked the book, Green Eggs and Ham. We recently read it in my colege class. I hadn't read it for years. It's a classic and brings back childhood memories for many. I like the way the book uses repetition and rhyming. It's about a character named Sam who's trying to convince the unnamed character to try green eggs and ham. The unnamed character thinks he doesn't like them and is adimant that he won't try them anywhere no matter the circumstance. Sam finally wares him down to the point of trying them just to shut Sam up. When he finally tries them he realizes that he likes them and would eat them anywhere. I recomend this book for children or anyone who would like to remember their childhood.
Rating: Summary: Fun With Words! Review: I think that this book is very good at showing how words can be fun. There are many random words that most people would never think of putting together, but Dr. Seuss has. This book is a poem, but it is not one of those long boring poems. This book has fun with words and gives children excitment and helps them learn because of the repitition. I think that this is a fun and wacky book that is enjoyed by many people.
Rating: Summary: Great for One and All Review: "Green Eggs & Ham" is a classic, as are all of Dr. Seuss' books. I have gained a greater appreciation for the workmanship of Seuss after discussing "What makes a good children's book" in my "Writing for Children and Teens" class with Dr. Doyle. It contains the various elements that make a really good story, such as interesting charcters, humor, fun with language... I enjoyed this book throughly when I was a kid, and enjoy it even today, as an educated college student (well, it doesn't hurt that Dr. Doyle is an amazing storyteller). Kids and adults alike can really get into this book. Children enjoy the rhyming and often are able to think ahead and guess what will rhyme with "goat" or "house." I believe that every generation should grow up with Dr. Seuss, and especially this book, "Green Eggs & Ham."
Rating: Summary: Great for all ages Review: Green Eggs and Ham is a wonderful book for all ages. For those who are too young to understand the lesson, they will love the unique characters and crazy rhyming. The book demonstrates the lesson that you'll never know if you don't like something until you actually try it. That must be why parents are always trying to get their kids to eat vegetables. This Dr. Seuss book is a perfect example of what children are looking for when they pick a book off the shelf. It's relatable, humorous, fast paced, and out of the ordinary. Most of all, it leaves the reader in suspense until the very end, when the character decides he actually likes Green Eggs and Ham. I enjoyed this book when I was 7 and even today in college. Green Eggs and Ham is a book that will last forever, entertaining readers of all ages.
