Summary: purity of heart
Review: There is such warmth from these books. I went back and read them now that I'm grown up and found them filled with values that seem to be almost lost today. Reminds us who we can be!

Summary: Sweet, magical, very special
Review: I read "Little House in the Big Woods" for the first time when I was four years old, and have re-read the series almost every year since. Wilder's simple, straightforward language is easy for a child to read and understand alone, yet her characters and relationships have a depth and complexity that keep the stories fascinating for adult readers as well.

Perseverance, responsibility, loyalty and cooperation: these are the core values, never explicitly stated but consistently reinforced, that Wilder's characters embody. Yet all is not sweetness and light in the Ingalls family. Their struggles with bad weather, crop failure and economic troubles form a consistent backdrop for the series; and Laura's jealousy of her blonder, "prettier" sister Mary sounds a bittersweet note throughout.

These books are unique in their perspective of the American pioneer experience, and in their capturing of the wanderlust and striving that drove this family across the continent. They are quietly powerful stories that will stick with you forever... whether you are 4 or 74 the first time you read them.

Summary: For years I've wanted to read this, my daughter...
Review: My daughter has permitted me to read these wonderful stories. I think what makes them so especially good in this current time of terrorism is that they make us feel close to "Home America" and we feel a part of this family. (...) Super.

Summary: Entertainment and Education for all ages!
Review: I discovered the Little House Series at age 9. Since then I've read the series over and over. It never gets boring. It's like a familiar friend. Even at age 22, I am still a huge fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder's work and of her other life stories. When I become a parent, I hope my children get as much enjoyment from her work as I have.

Summary: Wonderful books for any age
Review: I think the first chapter book I ever read was "Farmer Boy". My older sister had brought it home from the school library and I snuck around to read it so no one would know. For some reason, I thought someone would tell me it was too hard for a first grader :)

Over the next few years I got all the books in the series and read the numerous times. The stories are well written and very informative. Readers will begin to think of Laura as a close friend.

My son is now 10 years old. I plan to read Farmer Boy with him this winter. As a young girl, I thought that was one of the best books in the series. (...)

Summary: Little House - Timeless Read
Review: I first read these books about 28 years ago. I had the whole set and loved them. I have just bought them for my daughter who is only one. I look forward to reading them to her and then, hopefully her reading them herself and enjoying them as much as I did. They don't date and I think they belong on every little girls bookshelf. The fact that they are a child's factual account of her life then is also a great introduction to children's non-fiction reading and there is so little of that around. I know that I was amazed as a child to read about people who lived without so many of the luxuries we now take for granted but were happy and close as a family.

Summary: timeless classics
Review: there are some books that are able to stand "the test of time'and I feel that these books belong in this group. I can remember how much I enjoyed reading these works when I was a child, and over the years,as I grew up and had my own children,I had come to sorely regret having given these books away. Therefore,I was tremendously pleased to be able to have these books in my possession once more.

Summary: AN ALLTIME CLASSIC
Review: I had ordered these books for my ten-year old daughter, but to my surprise even my 7 & 8 year old sons got bewitched by them, they found the books easy to read, very engaging and hard to put down. After all my kids do put them down ,they are filled with an unprecedented surge of energy to help around the house with different chores and they want to participate more with family responsibilities. I loved these books as a child,I'm so happy I can share the pleasure of reading them with my children.

Summary: Wonderful Series
Review: The "Little House" series is one of the most intriguing and special series of this era. It is a valuable history of yester-years. I have read all of these books and others relating myriads of times. I wish there were even more "little house" books for myself and my peers to enjoy!! I love these books and they are definently all excellent reads!!

Summary: Essential elementary school reading
Review: As a mom of a little BOY, I think these books are outstanding. The series has things to keep kids interested, whether they are 3 or 13, and is great for historical interest, vocabulary, reading skills, etc. Each chapter is a story in itself, lending it well to a bedtime read. If you like these, the Canadian version of them is the "Anne of Green Gables" series, not to be missed! (The author of those is Lucy Maud Montgomery.) ENJOY!!
