Rating: Summary: Very Cute Review: Just bought this book--it's very cute and the kids (1 1/2 and 2 1/2) like guessing what animal is "next". It's short, so it works even for the youngest kids and the art is really neat. We stop on pages to say the animal sounds that match the pictures.
Rating: Summary: Back to basics Review: This is a great introduction to colors and animals. At age 2 and a half, my daughter had this book memorized, and she would "read" it to me (sometimes while the book was still tucked away in a diaper bag). The text is simple and pleasant. The rhymes are easy for little ones to remember, and there is a nice flow to the text that hides the lack of a traditional story line. If you own an earlier printing of this book, you may be pleasantly surprised by the re-illustration and a subtle change in the text.
Rating: Summary: Amazon shopper, Amazon shopper. What do you see? Review: I see a great book looking at me. This is a wonderful book that has served as a means to begin exploring the world with my daughter by playing "What do YOU see?" together. Great for learning colours, animals and sounds as well.
Rating: Summary: Classic bedtime book/babies love it Review: BROWN BEAR, BROWN BEAR is a soothing, rhythmic book. The repetitive nature of the book makes it very calming to babies. It lulls my baby to sleep every night. The illustrations are very interesting for baby to look at, as well. This book is a must have for new parents. (I wish I had more than one...one for baby's room and one for the road!)
Rating: Summary: Not just a Story, but a Song too! Review: Every parent probably knows this story. However I learned it was put to music, namely the music of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." So now it's a portable story to sing in the car or on walks. My children love to sing it, and it reinforces memorization, color identification and animals. Try it as a song today, you'll be hooked!
Rating: Summary: More vivid pictures and repetition! Review: Katrina (1 yr) enjoys hearing this book. She also has "Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you Hear?" and loves it as well. These pictures are simplistic and easy for her to remember. This book is loads of fun when special voices are used for the different animals and sound effects. Also sign language and gestures are great for keeping interest and reinforcing the learning experience. Just a great book!
Rating: Summary: A classic book for baby Review: I received this book at my baby shower. I couldn't wait to start reading it to my baby. She looked at all the pages and would follow the bright pictures as soon as she could focus. The book is easy to read and creates such a nice rythym. The pictures are colorful with wonderful contrast that really catches babies eye. The book is sturdy for when your child starts to grab and taste everything.
Rating: Summary: A fun and educational book to read for babies to Kdgtn Review: As an educator in NYC, I have used this book in my preschool classes. It is a book with great illustrations, rhyming, and helps to build expectations and predictions amoung young children. The tune is very catchy and children will recite easily. It is also a tune that is adopted to teach children other concepts. As a soon to be mom, this book and most of Carle's books are A MUST HAVE. They are pricey, but well worth it.
Rating: Summary: A terrific way to teach your toddler colors Review: If you're looking for a fun way to teach your toddler about colors, this is it. Each animal is assigned a unique color -- and the combinations get increasingly funny as the book progresses. (My son is usually giggling hysterically by the time we get to "blue horse" or "purple cat.") I swear we must have read this book a dozen times the day it arrived in the mail! A fun book for both parents and kids. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Instructional for toddlers. Review: This book was initially well-received by my toddler, but has since lost some of its luster. Whether the story line or the illustrations, I suppose appeal is subjective, regardless of the age. At any rate, this book goes from page to page, asking each animal what is seen. The response is always an animal of a different color, so the book is educational for its identification of both animals and colors. I like it for that reason. The book is a good one to have in your toddler's library. I recommend it.
