Summary: A Definite MUST BUY for newborns.
Review: My daughter has read several books to her newborn daughter since her birth. At age 6 weeks, my grand-daughter began to react positively to this book and coos and talks to it. It is the most amazing thing. She has two favorit pages and becomes visibly excited when they appear. If she sees the book on the sofa, she will even become distracted while nursing. I highly recommend this for all newborn mommies who believe in reading to their infants.

Summary: My son loves it!
Review: I bought this book when my son was only 7 months old and it has been one of his favorites ever since. Now that he is almost 2 he can read it to me! He even recites the lines when he is reading other books. He will read "football, football what do you see", it's the sweetest thing. Buy it, your child will love it too.

Summary: Fun for mom AND baby
Review: ...The large colorful pictures are great (albeit not accurate, a purple horse?). The rhythmn of the verse is great, and of course by now...I have memorized the text, so we recite in the car, or at the park...anyplace...I highly recommend.

Summary: My toddler's favorite book!!
Review: This book has been my daughter's favorite for several months now. The illustrations and are colorful and vibrant. She loves the repetitive rhyming in this book. She has learned many of the noises animals make because of this book. I highly recommend everyone add this treasure to their child's library. You won't be dissapointed!!!

Summary: An Attention Getter
Review: "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "Polar Bear, Polar Bear" are two of my 12-month old son's favorite books. The repetitive manner keeps him interested. He knows the rhythm and turns the pages when necessary for me. Although he cannot say the names of the animals yet, he does recognize them. He gets upset if he is looking for a certain animal, and it is not in "Brown Bear, Brown Bear", so he will go and pick up "Polar Bear, Polar Bear", and page through it until he finds the proper animal. At one time or another a certain color catches his eye, and he is only interested in that animal for awhile. At first it was the green animals, the peacock for example. Now it is the purple cat. Who knows what it will be tomorrow. But his favorite part of the book is the last page, where all of the animals are in front of him and he can point at them and I will tell him what each one is. I am positive this book will help him in animal identification real soon.

After reading the book for the eighth time in a night the animals all begin to sound the same. But, it keeps my sons interest and attention, so it is well worth it.

Summary: The looking book
Review: The coolest part of this book for me was went all the kids said, "We see a brown bear, a red bird, a yellow duck, a blue horse, a green frog, a purple cat, a white dog, a black sheep, a goldfish, and a teacher looking at us. That's what we see." I think the animals look funny and weird. I think the pictures are cool and they look very good. Thank you for your time and goodbye.

Summary: Adorable first book
Review: This was my daughter's first real book - on each page she'd meet a new animal (white dog, purple cat, etc) who'd clue her to the next page. Although the words seem repetitive (what do you see? what do you see?) the illustrations on every page are unique, and my little girl resisted turning the page before she had her fill of each picture. I'd almost swear that her first word was "wait!"

Summary: Beautiful book, but not as captivating as some
Review: If I were rating this book for me, I'd give it five stars. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the concept is really strong. It teaches sequencing as well as color and animal identification. I bought this book for my daughter, who's 2 1/2, because I knew they read it at preschool. However, she has never been particularly interested in having me read it to her. (I have noticed her "reading" it to herself a couple of times.) It's a preschool classic, but I'd make sure your child actually likes it before buying a copy for home.

Summary: A Great Book!
Review: I originally purchased this book for my son some years back and it has made it's way to my youngest daughter. My son absolutely loved this book. He discovered this book in his daycare and always wanted to bring it home. So, I had to buy it. It was his favorite book for a few years. Then, I had my daughter (now 6), and started reading Brown Bear to her when she was a little over a year old, and it is still one of her favorite books! I'm getting ready to introduce this book to my nephew, whom I know will love this book as much as my two youngest did!

Summary: First book title my child remembers
Review: This has been my daughter's favorite book since she turned one. It is the first book she pulls out of the pile to have read to her at night. Now at 21 months old, she can recite the whole book just by seeing the picture. Good book for learning the animals and colors.
