Rating: Summary: These books have it all Review: I've just fininshed reading the first 4 Harry Potter books for about the 5th time through, and they're just as magical and affecting as they have ever been. Everything is in here: suspense, adventure, mystery, humour, danger. There's even some pretty satisfying paybacks. The characters are fantastic and fantastically realistic. There are bad people who turn out to be good guys and good people who turn out to be bad guys, just like life.I think the thing I like best about these books is the message that it's okay to be different - to be not "normal." I would very much have liked to have heard that message when I was Harry's age and in a stiff, prep school environment. These book value real thought. Much has been made of Harry's rule breaking, but only once in the series so far does he break a rule for arbitrary personal gain. Most of the time he makes a decision that what's right is more important than what's written. And you know what? Life's like that sometimes. I think it's great that kids are getting an example of how to do what's right even when it involves breaking rules. The Potter books also show that there are consequences for rule breaking. If not getting caught and getting a detention, then a spell going wrong and someone getting turned into a cat. This shows that when you make a decision to go against the rules that things may not go as you expected and you have to take responsibility for the outcome. Rowling's done a great job with these books! Long may she continue.

Rating: Summary: One of the best series of books I have ever read. Review: This is a wonderful set of books made for a wide variety of ages. The lack of foul language and lack of adult situations in these stories was a very welcome change from what the media bombards us all with every day. These books tells a fantastic story about a young boy dealing with all the bizzare and mundane obsticals life has thrown at him -- from the "evil step parents" syndrome to dealing with dragons. I highly recommend this set to anyone remotely interested in fantasy =)
Rating: Summary: Couldn't have been more enjoyable Review: This is the best series of books that I have ever read. I'm a college student and I used to hate reading. I read the first book last winter because everyone was talking about them. I was done with all four about eight days later. I just couldn't put them down. These books have really made me a book fan. I now read at least one non-school book a month. Thank you Harry Potter!!!
Rating: Summary: I've READ Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Lloyd Alexander... Review: I read Lord of the Rings five times through when I was 13 and was hooked on Fantasy and SF. I've got a Masters degree in History. I STILL enjoy Harry Potter. The stories and characters are dramatic and engaging. There is NO reason to slag a series of books that give nothing but enjoyment just because they are popular or are Juvenile/Young Adult fiction. Such books open up the world of reading to many people. Harry Potter is excellent for the beginning reader as well as those who habitually enjoy such sojourns into the world of imagination.
Rating: Summary: Grandmas Hooked! Review: I'm a 63 year old grandma. My Grandkids introduced me to Harry Potter, and I had to find out what they were so excited about. One of my grandsons shared his books with me. I think this is an excellent series. Yes, it is a little simplistic for an adult reader. But I'm hooked, and am anxiously waiting for book #5. I can't imagine what all the negative hype is about. Kids have always loved fantasy and stories about witches and goblins and so forth. Consider Grimm's fairy tales for example. And then in contemporary fiction there are the Star Wars series, and Lord of the Rings, not to mention all the other science fiction that's available. I'm glad that the kids are doing something besides watching TV or playing Video games. (Talk about fantasy there!) Thank you J. K Rowling, you did good!
Rating: Summary: Mad about Harry Review: I think one needs only to see the happy look on children faces to discover how important Harry Potter has become. I loved books as a child and they have helped me through out my life. Fairy tales are my favorite especially with Merlin he was my first encounter with a wizard. He remains hard to out do but Harry is running a close second. These are wonderful books thank God we live in a country that may burn the book but can't keep it from being printed. I loved Harrys compassionate side something adults could use more of. He feels things and it shows He can't help taking on the bullies and fighting for the underdog. He evolves in his stories so you do to. So much happens to this little wizard that we await his future. Finally a book I can give my grandchildren that has sparkle a bit of fairy dust, and lots of make believe. Thank you England for Merlin and Harry...

Rating: Summary: My Daughter discovered the magic of reading Review: My 11 year old daughter found the magic in reading with the help of J.K. Rowling. After reading the first book, The sorcere's stone, my daughter was hooked, it was the first time she had finished a "big book" she is so into the story. It makes my heart sore and my eyes water when i go into her room an hour after she has gone to bed to tell her to turn her light out, put the book away and go to sleep, and she pleads with me sayin " ohh mom just one more chapter please!" the story and characters are so alive. You become drawn into the magic. I owe a huge bit of gratitude to J.K. Rowling. She has gotten my daughter away from the TV and into the world of reading. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Rating: Summary: Good books! Review: This series of books is great! I love them! I cant wait for book five. There are a lot of people that think that Harry Potter is evil. You could say that it is evil....... If J.R.R. Tolkien is evil, And C.S. Lewis is evil, And the wizard of oz is evil. But I personaly do not think these books are evil. The only reason I gave these books only 4 stars is that I do not like the bad languege that Rowling uses in them. But other then that I love these books!
