Rating: Summary: A must read for all ages! Review: I am 34 years old. After hearing "Harry Potter" all around me for so long I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I read the first book cover to cover and LOVED it! Over a two week period I have read the first 3, am reading the 4th and have seen the movie! I'm actually trying to read book #4 slowly because I know book #5 won't be out for awhile. I have always been an insatiable reader and it warms my cynical heart to see that children today are reading and enjoying this book as much as I. Not since reading the mystery/adventure novels by Enid Blyton as a teenager in England have I so enjoyed a series of books. (...)To dream and imagine are gifts that should be encouraged and cherished. I give many thanks to J.K. Rowling and her wonderful books.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Review: This is a very good book! I thought that it was very interesting and that all kids would like it! Harry Potter allows children to see how even a parentless child can find the love of a family. All the books in the Potter series are very good, and fun to read!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter The Best Review: My review of Harry Potter would be about a 11 year old boy who is a wizard but definitely doesn't know it until he starts receiving mail from a great wizard named Hagrid. Harry may be the best and luckiest kid in the world to be a wizard. Before I really didn't used to read that much. But now J.K. Rowling is the best author yet to inspire me and encourage me to read!
Rating: Summary: This books are bloody brilliant Review: The Harry Potter books are incredible. I have read the four of them several times and I never lost the interest they are really great books, and I would recommend them for kids all ages 6 to 100.
Rating: Summary: BRILLIANT Review: I must admit, when my mother first showed me the first installment, I didn't like it at all. But something about the black, thick glasses, the raven-black hair, that scar...what did it all mean? I went to find my mother at the very end of the shop, and I thrust the book into her hands. Then, on the way home, I started reading. I was always a reader, but this really MADE me want to read! I don't gernerally buy fantasy or fiction genres (mostly non-fiction or classic novels), but because I was only nine years old, I was gulliable to magic and unicorns and all that stuff in between. I LOVE reading the "Harry Potter" books...that's all I can say.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter rules the magical world! Review: I never seen a better book series than the harry potter series. In all 4 books(soon to become 5) you can join Ron, Hermione, and him himself in incredible journey's around Hogwarts(school of witchcraft and wizzardry) and harry's life. I think they should a video game and you can create your own guy and be picked into a house and take and see if you're good enough to play qudditch. You would be very pleased to read these books unless you don't believe in magic and you should always follow where your imagination will take you to read a good book.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Luver Review: I have read only the first 2 books and i am only 12. I enjoys them sooooo much I can not put the book down. U have to read it! Even see the movie! Another book set to read is THE LORD OF THE RINGS. I cant put that book down ether!
Rating: Summary: Compelling Writing Review: As an adult I was skeptical, coming to the Harry Potter series only recently. I had to see what all the fuss was about. And the fuss, from an adult and literary point of view is that the writing is just plain compelling. One sentence pulls you along to another. The Potter series are the Wizard of Oz of the 21st century (all right, I realize it predates the new century, but it sounds so right to say that!) I also recommend The Widow's Son by Bruce steinberg, also compelling, though much less famous. A more real way of dealing with a boy suffering great loss -- with no magic to help him.
Rating: Summary: Most amazing ever!! Review: I love the Harry Potter Books. I'm not a person who likes to read a lot, but boy did those H.P. books grab me by suprise. I can't stop reading and loving them. They are the best books I have ever read in my life. They are so interesting and once you pick one up (even if you've already read it) you can't put it down. I mean J.K. Rowling wrote them so well you feel like you're in the book. You can see vivid pictures in your mind of what you're reading. It's not like some of the other fantasy books I've read. These are way better. They have almost real life characters and they are so interesting. By the time you are done the book you feel like you know the characters as personal friends. I can't wait for the rest of the books to come out. J.K.Rowling... just want you to know... AWESOME WRITING!!!truly
Rating: Summary: A Landmark Review: My wife and I discovered Harry Potter 1 about a week before the tsunami of Harrymania hit American shores. As such, we were unaffected by the hype, and bought the book purely out of curiosity. We were impressed. The stories are a clever blending of the oldest sort of fantasy stories and modern sentiments and technology. Harry's quests smack of Tolkien, his upbringing of Dickens. But the gadgets and gizmos found around Hogwarts could come from Ian Fleming's spellbook -- part of what makes the stories fun. Also admirable is that Harry is not the hero of every scene. His friends, and even hapless Neville, sometimes save the day. It's a refreshing break from the one-protagonist model of so much fantasy and children's literature. I expect in fifty years these books will be as treasured as the Narnia series. But it is odd that a box set is for sale when every fan knows three more volumes are yet to come. I guess marketing casts strong spells of its own.
