Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Review Review: I read all four of the Harry Potter books and I think they are WONDERFUL! They are the best books I have ever read and I can not wait for all seven books. I have seen the movie about six times and I am anicipating the release of all the Harry Potter movies to come out. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter himself) is adorable and I especially LOVE Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood). J.K. Rowling, keep writting! You are EXCELLENT!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: The only thing better that one Harry Potter is all four in one set!
Rating: Summary: fan-freakin-tastic Review: title says it all, really. What I noticed though, is that some people won't read it because it damages their pride of being an adult or something stupid like that. No matter what your age is, everyone who's read it will tell you how wonderful it is. Yet some people think you're a weirdo for reading a children's book, and think you ate something wrong if you recommend it to them. Shouldn't just the popularity of it tell you enough?? I really want to urge everyone who thinks these books are all jokes and are for kitties, to open up your narrow minds and just see for yourself how it is, instead of belittling something you know nothing about. Now THAT's childish.
Rating: Summary: they get better as they go Review: I almost failed my Software Engineering midterm because I picked up "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" two days before the test. I was up until 3 am the morning of my test reading it... if you are in college or have a similarly packed schedule don't pick up these books they are dangerous. --from a Tolkein fan
Rating: Summary: This may sound cliched, but the books are magical. Review: I admit that I had never heard of Harry Potter until the huge fuss over the release of the fourth book. I didn't buy into the hype until a friend of mine dragged me to the movie... I admit that I became a Harry believer after the first 10 minutes of the film and wanted more. I immediately asked to borrow her books and read all four over the next two days. After reading her set, I decided that I had to have my own copies. The Harry Potter books are wonderfully imaginative and great for children of all ages (I myself am a 31 year old child!!) I loved being taken out of the real world and submersed in a world of fantasy and magic. Some say the stories and events are derivative of other classic "good vs. evil" stories; I don't happen to feel that way. The attention to detail of both the Muggle (non-magic folks) and the Wizard worlds is staggering and fascinating and unique. The J.K. Rowling style is also very refreshing and accesible to everyone even with the immense attention to specifics and details. These books are great and I highly recommend them. They are so unassuming and pleasant and can teach kids a lot about acceptance, forgiveness, and the true meaning of goodness.
Rating: Summary: I never thought.... Review: I never thought I'd enjoy any kind of fantasy novel, let alone a whole series of children's novels. These charming stories are particularly telling about the nature of childhood, perceptions and how the imagination has no bounds. There's never an expected or dull turn in the story. I'd reccomend this, especially for cynics...
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: I probably would never have picked up a copy of the books if it weren't for the fact that I had heard so much controversy about them. I decided to read the first one and got instantly pulled into a world full of magic, monsters, adventures. Easily the best book I've ever read; my highest compliments to Ms. Rowling. This is the FIRST book that has ever gotten me offline just so I could read. Yourself, your kids, your friends won't be disappointed when they read this book; which, as good as the movie was, is better than the movie. Because of these books, I'm now a HUGE Harry Potter fan!!!
Rating: Summary: what a great set of books, Review: now this comes from someone who will normally take his time reading a book, but not with this set I found myself engulfed in the story line of each and every book waiting with impatence to find out what was going to happen next, I feel that this is probley the greatest series of books since L. Frank Baum wrote the Oz books almost a hundred years earlier. before I realized it I'd found myself at the end of the fourth book within a week and three days. and now I'm just dieing to read the next three once they come out.I thought being 22years old that I wouldn't like these books, I mean I love reading and I've read some very renoun classics like "Catcher in the Rye" and " A Clockwork Orange" and I'm a big fan of Stephen King and Dean Knootz, but even still, I've never found myself so engulfed in a world of Fanasy like Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: You'll be hooked from the first chapter! Review: I was so grateful that I decided to start reading the Harry Potter series after there was already four books written! You finish one book and can't wait to start the next book. I've finished all four in a month, and would have finished sooner if it wasn't for things like life and work getting in the way. After reading the book and seeing the Sorcer's Stone in the movie, I now know why there was so much concern about creating the story in a visual format. J.K. Rowling does truly write in a way that sparks your imagination and literally 'paints' the scene and action in your mind. Her words are descriptive and engaging. Truly a page turner. The books are a very easy read. And very quickly you become involved in the lives of Harry Potter and his friends. Book One was great. And believe it or not, each book was better than the last. Each book has new lovable characters or engaging/humorous scenes that you'll want to go back and re-read. The action gets raised a notch in book four. You'll read it so fast to get through the story, and then will realize you'll need to re-read it to pay attention. It's not just for children.
Rating: Summary: The Best of the Best ( Creme de la creme of books ) Review: J K R 's Harry Potter series was the best read for a long time. After C S Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia and Roald Dahl's Magical adventures Miss Rowling's books are the best yet. The books just take you away on a dreamy ride into the magical world . It's incredible the way she has spun the epic tale of this young orphan with a sorrowful life at his aunt's place. It is so touching it brings out all the readers hopes and aspirations and makes you believe that there is something you can hope for when in dire states . It's like u cannot come back into the real world . even after u do return to reality there is the lingering feeling that you need to go back. It's absolutely amazing , thrilling in fact. There is no distinct word to describe JKR's wonderful imagination . I'm at a total loss for words about this Book Whew!
