Summary: they're up there with the best
Review: How can I say enough about the brilliant Harry Potter novels that will describe their wit, hilarity and cunning?
Suffice to say "I LOVE YOU HARRY POTTER BOOKS! I LOVE YOU!!!"

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: lots of fun

Summary: The Best Books in the World
Review: Harry Potter is not only the best, it's thrilling, exciting, and terrific too! At first I didn't want to read the book because most of my friends kept on talking about the scary parts in the book. But then I desided just to read the first chapter, and I was hooked!!!! (I normally am a big reader). My favorite book is the first. I really don't know how JK Rowling can write such good books, but she does!!!

Summary: wonderful read!
Review: I thought all four books were exciting.I DO NOT think they were simplistic, and even if they were lets not forget it's for the 9-12 year old reader.Rock on Rowling I can't wait for year 5!

Review: I am an adult who loved these books. The author has an amazing imagination.

Summary: If J.K.Rowling could only WRITE!
Review: If you're a Vonnegut fan, you'll recognize those words as they were used to describe Kilgore Trout; "His writing was dreadful;only his ideas were good." Such it is with Ms.Rowling-- her use of the English language is simplistic at best, uncreative at worst. But oh, those IDEAS. The characters, the plot twists and turns...can we forgive her the lack of word diversity, the descriptions that lave one's mind and entice the senses that are found in the works of more eloquent authors? I found it difficult to put the books down with a single page unread, yet once I put them down I wanted more. They read almost TOO fast (I suppose that's why they have so many pages) and leave one with little to savor after. They entertain without challenging; tasty, but not ultimately satisfying. Does this mean that I won't read Volume 5? Hardly. But then I'm hooked on fast food, too-- even though I know it's not necessarily good for me.

Summary: Definitely overrated
Review: Here we have a book--or I should say a set of books--that has "captured the imagination" of us all. Well I can't speak for "us all" but these books certainly aren't in my top 10 book list. It isn't even in my top 100 books. J.K. Rowling writes simplistically. The virtue (if that is the correct word) of these books are that they are easily accessible and comprehensible to children. The characters are mildly comic, and the fantasy is enjoyable. However, the characters, just the same, are cliches of book characters. Who hasn't read a book with a teacher's pet/book worm? An arrogant idiot?
I must merely say that I read these books--and I liked them to an extent--but for those of you looking for something miraculous that lives up to all of this hype, tough luck. And for those of you that have read these books many times and remain entertained, I can only wonder about how that works.
And still, for those of you who say they are the "best books you have ever read," I can only wonder how that works. It must either be that you haven't read much at all, or that you have very odd criteria for such books.

Summary: Hype definitely not worth it
Review: This is one ofthe most overrated series of books in the Fantasy (or even general Literature) genre. It lacks depth, humanity and anything to provoke thought or real interest.

As for the claim that the books get kids interested in reading - my experience in talking to kids who enjoyed the series is that they are very interested in buying merchandise relating to Harry Potter or seeing the movie multiple times, but are not really interested in reading more books that are non-Potter related.

Summary: The books were great.
Review: These books are great. I own all four! I read the fourth on e in one day even though it was 734 pages or something. I am only 11 but I read alot of adult books, and this was almost an adult book. It was funny and solemn at the same time. The fourth book it a little brutal for kids under 8, but they are great books altogether.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: ÄÆ
Review: This book is not only children's book. It is a book for anyone who likes fairytales. I read all four books in less than 2 weeks. This is a book you want to share with people you love.
