Summary: Can't wait for the next one
Review: I am hooked on Harry Potter. That would not be unusual, but I am in my mid-twenties. I was even a little embarassed to go see the movie, since I didn't know any children I could take. J.K. Rowling created characters that have already become folklore. They are smart, funny, and very resourceful. The author does not talk down to her readers, and treats them with respect. I wish books for adults were half as magical. I can't wait for #5 to come out and my only regret is that there will only be seven.

Summary: Harry Potter Books
Review: I am 16 and I love every word that these books have in them. They are so well written the you can create a picture of what is taking place in your mind. I have read a lot of books but there is no book that is anywhere as good as the "Harry Potter" series. It makes me wish that I could live in the world of Harry Potter.

Summary: A great gift
Review: I bought the 4 book hard-cover set as a gift for myself for Christmas. I highly recommend this as a gift for a Harry Potter fan of any age. It's the ONLY way to read Harry Potter. The hard-cover books are durable and come in a case that keeps them neat and protected.

I've read each of these books several times and will probably keep reading them over and over again.

Summary: An Excellent Series
Review: I have read most of the critiques here with a great deal of amusement. The few dissenters seem to feel that the Potter series is contrived and predictable. Sure the books are a little on the simplistic side.... they are written for 12 year olds. I am very impressed with JK Rowling. Anyone who can write a 700 page book that young adults are dying to read is someone who deserves my admiration. As an educator, I see too many students who do not like to read and would much rather sit passively and stare at a computer game or mindless television instead of actually putting forth the mental capacity it takes to read and use your imagination. I think ANY introduction into reading is certainly commendable and there is no way of knowing how many children (or even adults) have begun to read even a little bit more than they used to because they picked up one of these books. I did not read the Potter series until after seeng the movie and I enjoyed them very much. I did not find it to be sinister or teaching dark magic to children (lighten up folks!). I have also read the Oz series, the Narnia series, The Wrinkle in Time series, and several others, and think the Harry Potter series will be a wonderful addition to young adult literature. I wish this series had existed when I was a young adult. I would have read them and enjoyed them along with the other series that have become classics. I am not a child and knew these books were not Tolstoy when I picked them up, but that did not stop me from being entertained and appreciating them. Instead of showing an intellect superior to the masses, dissenters came across as petty and small minded. I, for one, will be joining the ranks of those who are anticipating the release of the next novel and know that my IQ is not threatened if I actually enjoy something that is not purely academic (Heck, I enjoy Brady Bunch reruns too - sue me)

Summary: Nice but not perfect
Review: I must confess that I started reading the Harry Potter books very late (after the first movie was released), but I managed to read all the four books before watching the movie.

The first book "Sorcerer's Stone", took me back to the days
of Enid Blyton. Reading it was a delightful experience. What with magic, magicians, Hogwarts, Quidditch, friends like Ron, Hermione and Hagrid and teachers like Prof. Dumbledore and Prof. McGonagall, one really wished to go to such school and attend classes for Defense against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Potions (with Prof. Snape!!!), play Quidditch matches (whats that, you ask?), wear the flowing wizard's robes and do other wonderful things. But, as always, nice things don't come by themselves. With all the wonderful 'magical' experience comes the villian Lord Voldemort, teachers like Snape (who loathes Harry), the dangers of being a wizard and relatives like Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley.

Personally I like Sorcerer's Stone more than the second book 'Chamber of Secrets'. In this book Harry comes face to face with Lord Voldemort himself, meets Professor Lockhart (who proves to be quite an entertaining character for the readers) and also finds out about his new ability. The book goes nicely in the beginning bu the end seemed a bit to far-fetched even for a kids book full of magic and tha really ruins the whole effect.

'Prisoner of Azkaban' introduces new characters like Black, Lupin and Peter. Who is Black and whether he is Harry's friend or enemy, you keep on guessing till the end and that makes this book better than the second one. And with these characters comes a new twist in Harry's life and unexpected things are revealed. How the writer spins a completely new story out of seemingly unimportant characters and events of the previous books is something worth reading.

'Goblet of Fire' is the last book in the series till now, and it is also the one with most pages. The first 70 or more pages are filled with (too much!) detailed description of Quidditch World Cup, which really bores you. But after this overdose there is not much of Quidditch (phew!) during Harry's time at Hogwarts, like the other three books. But there is something even more interesting and daring. You meet young wizards of other wizarding schools (yes yes, there are other school of wizardry apart from Hogwarts). There are also some new characters like Mad-Eyed Moody. The only thing that I don't like in this book is the events that happen in the end. Personally I think they were bit too violent for a childrent book.

With each book Harry knows more about his parents and the readers know more about each character. An entertaining book for kids and adults alike. You should read them before watching the movie, if you really want to enjoy them.

Summary: Not just a childrens book
Review: Isn't it amazing that the more J. K. Rowling writes the better she gets? I have never been a big reading fan, but once I read the first book I was hooked. The first book is an introduction into Harry Potter and his world. Rowling describes the scenes so vividly it is easy to picture his world. She is so good at this that at some times you believe he is a real character.
The Chamber of Secrets, 2nd book, is an excellent sequel to an already excellent book. This is Harry's second year at Hogwarts; many of the things that happen in the first book are explained here giving the reader a better understanding of a very understandable book.
The third book, The Prisoner of Azkaban, leaves the other two books behind. Harry discovers a great deal abut his past in this book. He discovers that the Dursley's aren't all the family he has left. This book keeps you thinking and choosing sides trying to find out what the real truth is.
In the fourth book, the best one up to now, The Goblet of Fire, Harry is faced with a whole new list of obstacles. He is in his fourth year by now and living up to wizarding standards. He meets more people and is faced with the dilemma of whom to trust. Out of the four books this is the longest one, but Rowling continues with her excellent writing and vivid descriptions. It just blows you away. She juggles about five different situations all at once unifying them in the most orchestrated way where you don't believe you are reading a 734 page book.
I personally recommend the Harry Potter books to anyone, and everyone. It doesn't matter if you are 10 or 100 years old. If you want to have a good time reading alone or with your family this are the books to read. If you saw the movie and liked it, the books are even better.

Summary: Harry Potter creates a wonderful world!
Review: J.K. Rowling has created a wonderful world with these four books. Each one adds details and surprises that makes each one more interesting. The story line is simple, but the interactions between characters wonderful and there are many surprises for young and old alike.

The Harry Potter series has taken the world by storm and there are many reasons why. These books will make your children happy to read, and keep you adults happy by presenting an interesting story.

Each of these novels has a brilliant cover that captures the Harry Potter magic and adds to the overall enjoyment of the series.

I would recommend this boxed set to young and old alike. All will enjoy these fascinating stories!

Summary: Harry Potter Box Set
Review: As crazy as it sounds, adults love this book too. I couldn't put them down...I started late so I got to read the 1st three at once. I'm a true fan of magic and fantasy; anything that has to do with dragons and wizards. What I loved most about this series though, is the fact that I can relate to it. It allows you to really wonder how you would react to being through into to a whole new world, where everything you thought you new was wrong, and now you have deal with all of this on top of growing up. I can't wait for the next one.

Summary: These books made me want to be a wizard!
Review: It took me a while to get into the whole Harry Potter thing. As an adult, I figured it was just another kid fad that would pass. Then last Christmas, my mom borrowed the first three Harry Potter books from my cousin. I picked up the first one and began reading out of boredom rather than intrigue. I was immediately hooked. I literally could not put these books down! I read all four in a week and a half and am anxiously awaiting the fifth. I rented the dvd when it came out, and it was good, but they left so much out that I was nonetheless disappointed. Anyone who liked the movie should definitely read the books. I would recommend this series to everyone, especially the first and fourth books, which were my favorites.
