Summary: Even for diplomats!
Review: Am sixty without children and thought the Potter books were for children and maybe their mothers. Until, at a reception, a top diplomat urged me to try at least one. With one serious warning: "First finish the workload you take home from the office every evening, because as soon as you start on Harry, you will want to go on till the end".
He was right. The books even hold up when you read them a second time - so may layers and tongue-in-cheek puns to discover. Rewarding and fun!!!

Summary: Waiting For Harry Potter Book 5
Review: I have read all four Harry Potter books. Though book 4 is much longer than the others, and does get a little boring at times, you certainly have to rate the whole set a 5 star effort by J.K. Rowling. The author's forte' is imagination and knowing how to spin an interesting tale out of her imagination. I like fantasies and am eagerly waiting for her next one to come out. In the meantime I have just finished reading another book that is actually true stories, but presented within the framework of fantasy, a book called "West Point: Character Leadership...." by Norman Thomas Remick that I want readers to know I really enjoyed a lot. It's not magic and wizardry like Harry Potter, but it also has a Harry, and I think is a good one for Harry Potter lovers before reading Book 5 of the Harry Potter series.

Summary: A Thrilling Adventure
Review: Harry Potter is a boy who learns that he is a famous wizard. He attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He meets many friends along the way as he goes from an ordinary boy to a trained wizard. When I read these books I felt that time flew by and I couldn't put them down. I am currently in the middle of reading the fourth book. I have realized that for a childrens book it has quite a bit of harsh language especially in the fourth book, Goblet of Fire. These words may mean nothing to you but I feel for a children's book, they should not be in there. I also feel that there are other ways to express your feelings. Otherwise these books have made me enjoy reading a lot more.

Summary: Not just for Kids!
Review: When I first heard of Harry Potter I thought "Kids Stuff!" but boy, was I wrong! Every adult with an imagination should read these fantastic stories! J K Rowling, with the help of Harry, Ron and Hermoine, takes you back to a place you haven't visited since YOU were 11! You can lose yourself in the magic of Hogwarts castle the childhood dreams of spells, potions, flying and magical creatures. Its quite a bump coming back to reality when you have to put the book down! I have read all four at least twice and will probably read them again in the not to distant future! The only thing left to say is Ms Rowling "WHERES NUMBER 5!!"

Summary: Harry Potter, Harry Potter.....Where art thou Harry Potter?
Review: I must admit that when I first heard of Harry Potter I was in the book store. People were flocking to get this book. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the big deal was. I went and picked up the book and saw the face of a little child and wondered "Why are all these grown-ups buying this book?" Well, I found out after I saw the movie what the fuss was all about. I was so taken with the movie that I had to have the books. So I bought the box set on a Thursday and finished the entire 4 books buy Tuesday morning. I love these books. And I am very greatful that J.K. Rowling has such a wonderful imagination. If you haven't purchased these books. I suggest you do so now. I can guarentee that you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Fun, Yes. But, Educational?
Review: I have read all four Harry Potter books and have, generally, enjoyed the purely fictitious stories of magic and wisardry. J.K. Rowling is an interesting writer in the first two books, but, I'm not so sure about 3 and 4, especially 4. It seems that there are different, less talented, people writing -- especially 4. And why are these books listed under education? They're fun to read, for sure. But, I don't see them as educational, at all. I hope our kids in America are reading other things, as well, that maybe add to their knowledge and intelligence. If you like books that are presented within the framework of fantasy, I would recommend reading, while awaiting Harry Potter 5, a book called "West Point:..." by Norman Thomas Remick to participate in a journey through time by another Harry, and find out (and learn!) all the things he learns on that journey.

Summary: An excellent work of fantasy fiction
Review: Harry Potter will take you to a world of magical spells and wizards. It's great for both kids and adults. Trolls, Dragons, goblins, unicorns, and many other magical beasts also inhabit this world...

Summary: ~*Amanda's review of Harry Potter books*~
Review: Harry Potter is a story about a young boy who lived. His parents died and he has no one he knew in the world except for the Dursleys. Until one day the news broke that he was in fact, a wizard! he was incredibly shocked but realized that it was better than staying with the mean Dursleys.
After that... he looked forward to going to Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Every year was a new adventure with his best friends Ron and Hermione. Every year he finds something special and every year he sets a good reputation to the school and does something heroic.
I liked this book because it gives you the pleasure to live your dream and you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Even though Harry faces the teasing and getting in trouble, everyone face that in real life and Harry, handles it in an interesting manner...MAGIC. The book is so magical and creative and filled with lots of suspense you'll be hooked until you've read the whole set!

Summary: The Magic of Harry Potter
Review: "Oh Potter you rotter, oh what have you done?
You're killing off students, you think it's good fun."
So goes the rhyme which Peeves, the poltergeist made up (in the 2nd book, in case you're wondering). Majority of us muggles (except maybe the Dursleys) will not agree with this. To us, Harry Potter is a hero, who was the only wizard to have escaped unscathed from the most evil sorcerer of all time, Voldemort!! (Sound of trumpets). Harry Potter has to battle Vol- I mean, you-know-who, every year at Hogwarts (except during the 3rd year), and escapes with nothing but a few bruises. Harry Potter is a tale, not only of the basic conflict between good & bad, but also of the trials & tribulations of school-life. Harry Potter & his friends, in spite of being witches & wizards, have to sit through boring classes like 'History of Magic' & 'Divination'. They also have to undergo exams. Just like the Board exams, which the students in India have to take, in their 10th & 12th Standards, the Hogwarts students have to take their OWLS (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) and NEWTS (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests).
Harry Potter is not a model student. Far from it, really. This is substantiated by the way he and his friends (Ron Weasley & Hermione Granger) explore the Forbidden forest (in their 2nd year), the Forbidden corridor (in their 1st year) & the Shrieking shack (in their 3rd year). In spite of breaking the rules, the trio manages to avoid punishments (though not all the time) & sometimes even succeed in gaining points for their house.
Each one of us identifies himself/herself with one of the characters of the Harry potter series. It might be Neville Longbottom, who is a scared looking classmate of Harry Potter & who lives in terror of his grandmother and Professor Snape. Or, it might be Hermione Granger, (it is rumoured that J.K Rowling was like Miss Granger when she was young) who is so intelligent, that she runs the risk of being labelled a 'know-it-all'. It might even be Harry Potter himself, who is an orphan, and who has a knack of getting himself into (and out of) trouble. Then there are the teachers. What to do when a teacher loathes the very sight of you but is unbelievably partial to your worst enemy? (Professor Snape). What to do when you find out that your most favourite teacher is a werewolf, & has to consequently leave the school? (Professor Lupin).
In addition to all this, is the extra-ordinary & exciting game of Quidditch, which is even more popular than cricket (Can it be possible?). Anyone who has played a game for his/her school or for his/her house, will understand the feelings faced by Oliver Wood, when the Gryffindor team failed to get the Quidditch cup for 8 consecutive years.
Then there are the occasional fights between Ron & Hermione, or between Ron & Harry, which are essential for the building of a true friendship. But In the end, they learn standing together is more important than arguing over silly trifles.
Is it any wonder, then, that Harry Potter should claim such a large number of supporters?
