Rating: Summary: Very Addicting Review: This bundle packs a punch, even for us older folk. Rowling writes incredibly well and consistently tells a story that gets the reader involved. I bought the books separately, but once I started to read them, it was tough to put them down. I look forward to her next installment.Excellent reading for kids of all ages!
Rating: Summary: The Most Imaginative Series Review: When it comes to reading Harry Potter the best way I found to read it is with the Audio CD's playing along. The story was great when I read it without the CD's, but when I got the CD's it brought out the story even more. I suggest if you want to read Harry Potter make sure you get the Audio CD's and read the book along with the CD's you be glad you did. (Make sure you get the unabridged version of the CD's.)
Rating: Summary: Best Books Ever Review: The Harry Potter books are some of the most delightful books I have ever read. I have my mother, an English teacher, to thank for encouraging me to read them. They can be enjoyed by young and old alike. One reading is not enough to appreciate all the details of the books. Wonderful reading! Highly recommended for everyone!
Rating: Summary: Everyone knows its great! Review: There are so many hundreds of reviews that I am not going to say much - except that - if you have the time and curiosity, definitely read the HP series - even though they're for kids and the writing style is not high-class (read snobby!), the ideas and the way JKR integrates the various facets of her stories into suspenseful and often dark finales is commendable. She's almost got to be a wizard herself to write such beautiful stories. I for one, am eagerly awaiting the Order of the Phoenix to be released (hopefully) next year.
Rating: Summary: One of the worst series of books of all time Review: The text in this book is so cheap and annoying. It is a waste of money unless it is a child under 18 reading it.It will take you 4 days to read all of them.
Rating: Summary: Books that suck you in Review: I read Harry Potter for the first time when I was 28, just to see what all the fuss was about. After I read the first book, I feverishly waited for the rest of the series to arrive (from Amazon), and read one after the other, gleefully noting the fatness of book 4. The first book shows that it is geared towards a younger audience, the second as well. But as the series progresses, so do the complexity and juiciness of the storylines. There is less repetition of characters' background, which slows things down. These are some of the few books I have read in the last few years that suck me into their world and I lose track of my environment and how many pages I've turned. They are great to read and re-read and when I have children, I hope these will be some of their favourite bedtime stories.
Rating: Summary: Great for children & adults alike! Review: Although I'm WELL over 21, married, and have no children of my own yet, I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 of the Harry Potter books in this set. The characters are richly defined, the stories are clever and engrossing, and each book just makes you want to see what happens next. I already signed up to order Book 5 as soon as it's available! I would highly recommend this series to parents and adults who need a reason to get out of the "Video Game-DVD-VHS-Bad TV" rut that most of us find ourselves in these days. It's true-J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and friends make you want to READ again!
Rating: Summary: I LOVE THESE BOOKS! Review: Harry Potter is about a wizard who's parents get killed by an evil wizard. (Voldomort) My favorite is #2 The Chamber of secrets. I've read them all though.
Rating: Summary: Pure Enchantment Review: There's been some heavy debate over which series is more "must see"" and "must read." What I'm refering to is, of course, "The Lord of the Rings,' and "Harry Potter." Let me tell you from the standpoint of being an author and a reader of all 4 "Harry Potter" novels and "The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and the posthumously published -"The Silmarillion." Haryy Potter is an appealing series and I'm quite sure will be remembered years after "Pokemon, Dragonball Z, and the old Masters of the Universe" gimmicks. J.K. Rowling has brought forth a tale of wonder, magic, and a good role model for young readers to grow up with. I don't remember a more recent series capturing my attention as well. You see, I grew up with Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and Robert Louis Stevenson among others. The stories in them were a little old, but timeless, and took adventure into places of imagination, like "Peter Pan." Yet, these weren't fresh tales. Harry Potter is deep, yet easy enough for younger readers to have fun with it. Harry has become a phenomenon like various other things in popular culture. For example - The Beatles, Star Wars, Star Trek, and all the classic novels. All these things are good and memorable. The Lord of the Rings is a bit much for the younger crowd, though I had read it at 13, but Harry is much more suited to the younger taste. They're both great series'. This 4 pack is great reading for the kids, and the kid in all of us. Highly recommended for that whisk away to adventure. Robert Eldridge is the author of: "Amber Spirit: Poems & Stories" (Hats Off Books, 2001) and the dark poetic book, "Offbeat" (Writers Club Press, 2002.)
