Summary: The Classic Caterpillar Story!
Review: I had this same book as a child, and now my two daughters are enjoying the life of this infamous caterpillar and his incredible appetite. Both children are sitting here saying they love it, as I am writing this. It is a fun book with its "holes" that have been eaten through the pages, and become a preschoolers introduction to science/biology when the little caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly.

Summary: J.C on Caterpillar
Review: I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. This Exciting realistic fiction story is about a caterpillar that has just hatched from it's egg in a forest. This book is good for childern because it is educational and fun.It helps childern learn to read and count. It also helps childern learn about the cycles a caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly. This story is read in third person point of veiw.
the story is adout a caterpillar hatching. When it hatches he is hungry, and eats lots and lots of food like pears, apples, and
cake.He eats all week and on sunday he gets a stomachache. The next day he is fine and wraps himself in a cacoon and becomes a butterfly.

Summary: It's a must read for your child!
Review: If you are beginning to read to your toddler child than this book is a great book to start. My 2 year old son loves counting the food that the caterpillar eats in this story. Your child learns how to count and recognizes what foods the caterpillar is eating. This is a great book. Start with a simple book like this.

Summary: fat caterpiller
Review: This was my favorite book because it was the funniest one. It was about a caterpiller who got so hungry that it ate so much and in the end it turned fat.

Summary: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Review: Another funny book!! Has some hilarious illustrations such as the one where it shows him and hes very big from all the food that he has eaten. It was interesting how he turned into a huge butterfly at the end. Excellent illustrations of the caterpillar. Just a good book to read. I loved it!

Summary: classic!
Review: This book is great! In fact, all of his books are fantastic! Kids from 1-5 love this (I know because I worked with various ages in daycares). The picutres are colorful and fun to look at, as well as the wording is simple, but not too childish. Overall, this is just a classic, great book for kids!

Summary: Good but not Carle's finest
Review: The Very Hungry Caterpiller is great for teaching metamorphosis but it is lacking in a few facts..... Caterpillars which wrap themselves into cocoons become moths, not butterflies. The illustration of the butterfly is mysteriously 'top wings on bottom' upside down and my 5 year old reads this and wonders WHY the caterpillar ate so much. For a springboard for teaching it is fine but standing alone it does not do well.
