Summary: An absolutely fantastic book!
Review: This was the first book I read by Ann Rinaldi, and although it was highly recommended by a friend, I was skeptical because of bad experiences with historical fiction. However, after reading this book I came to love Rinaldi's work and had a new view on former President Jefferson. It flows well, and was an ultimate page-turner filled with suspense and action. One of the best books I have ever read. Incredible!

Review: Wolf by the Ears was the first book I read from Ann. I could not put it down, I spent hours in bed reading when I was suppost to be sleeping. I am a big fan of Ms. Rinaldi, and I hope that she never stops writing. All of her characters are Female butt kickers, and all of them, some how, find romance,and adventure, qualities that are refeshing, but hard to come by. My advise to you is:READ ALL OF HER BOOKS! They are all very well written, and they make you see that you are unquie, and very special the way you are.

Review: I loved this book. I found out new and interesting things about former President Jefferson. I think it was one of the fastest books I've ever read, that is how interested I was.

Review: I've read this book 5 times now, and when you finish it for the first, I'm sure you'll start reading it again! The plot is perfectly balanced, and with lots of twists and turns, you get to love Thomas Jefferson one minute and hate him the next. Mrs. Rinaldi knows how to write!!!

Review: I found this book to be very interesting and contained many facts on Mr. Jefferson's life. I found Ms. Rinaldi's style of writing very enjoyable,and thought it to be a terrific book to sit down with and read. I would reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about the truths and hardships of life.

Review: I think this book is one of the best books I've read. It is history related and after I read it I did a whaole bunch of research on the Hemings family. Since I read that book, Ann Rinaldi has been my favorite author of all times. This book is one of those books you can't put down and you can't wait to turn the page to see what going to happen.. I defanatly suggest you read it. And ,....if it seems boring in the begining........ ................................................ ............................................... ..KEEP READING!!!!!!

Summary: Very emotinal, a great story
Review: From the moment I picked this book up, I was attached. It was so gripping. You just wanted to be able to be in the story and tell eveyone what would be right. It wasn't right that Harriet had to leave the only home she'd ever known and loved, but it was right that she got her freedom. When she left, I cried, I was happy that she had her freedom, but mad that Thomas Jefferson had never and could never recognize her as his daughter. I was mad that she had to move away from the place she loved to have freedom. It is a very good and gripping story and I would recommend it for everyone.

Review: Harriet Hemings: a white girl, or is she? In the days of plantations and slave owners, there was a tremendous difference between white individuals, and those with darker skin. The dark-skinned people were thought of as no better than animals. What would happen, however, when it became known that there were children who looked light enough to be white, yet were actually black? "How could this be?" many would ask. The answer is simple: one white parent; one black. This is the story of such a union. Ann Rinaldi has woven an intriguing story around the rumors of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, a slave of his. When visitors would see Harriet and her also light-toned siblings, their minds would whir, and abolitionist thoughts would enter their minds. As previously mentioned, slaves were thought of as animals.....usually. These visitors would look at the light skin, and looking into the childrens' eyes, they would realize that perhaps black is just another color. Maybe slaves are people, with minds and feelings. This book deals with these ponderings, and the consequences these light-skinned slaves would face upon trying to pass as white; trying to make a place for themselves in the cruel and often unaccepting communities of the free. Wolf by the Ears is an interesting book, as well as being extremely close to actual history. I recommend it to those interested in such events of that time period, and any individual with compassion towards others, and the will to read a good book

Review: This book kept me wanting to read it's one book that was hard to put down. I think that being able to tell about something that not alot of people know about and be able to tell this stroy about Thomas Jefferson.Harriet is 19 years old she is hearing rumors that she is more than just a slave to Thomas Jefferson she could be his daughter. now she has to chose if she wants to run or leave as a free girl in a couple of months. she is can't chose to stay at the place she loves with people that treat her well. Or leave a be a free woman who has a darker skin than your average white lady of the day.

Summary: Could Not Put It Down!
Review: The first time I read this book, I was ten years old and doing a report on Sally Hemmings for my social studies class. I started reading it, and I could not put it aside to look at the other books I had checked out from the library. I simply had to finish it! I fell in love with the character of Harriet Hemmings and had to find out what happened to her. It inspired me to do more research than I needed to for my report. A few years later I spied the book in a store and I remembered how much I enjoyed reading it the first time so I bought it...and loved it all over again. There are very few books that I read in my childhood that I'd still read today, and I'm happy to say that this is definitely one of them. It is so well-written and the story compelling and emjoyable.
