Rating: Summary: Readers Read Wren! Review: After I read Crown Duel, I couldn't wait to read other books by Sherwood Smith. I picked up "Wren to the Rescue", and began reading. I couldn't put it down! After reading Crown Duel, I thought NOTHING could even compare to it--I was wrong. "Wren to the Rescue" has the same nose-glued-to-the-page quality, plenty of action and adventure, lovable characters, and of course, majic. Normally, I'm not really into the whole "evil sorcerer/sorceress-mystical power-wizard school" thing, but this is different. The type of majic that Smith portrays is almost believable, and not the traditional witchcraft that many other books these days are about. I can't wait to read the other two in the series: "Wren's Quest" and "Wren's War"! I would reccomend this book to anyone, but people ages 10 and up will probably enjoy it to its fullest. Happy reading!
Rating: Summary: a mysterious land to escape to through words Review: i don't remember how i recieved this book and i don't know how many times i've read it(probably too many to count). i do know that this will be my favorite book from childhood. i probably got it when it first came out and i hope i never have to give it up. if you love adventure, mystery, or magic, you NEED to read this book. my only regret is that sherwood smith didn't write anymore any sooner.
Rating: Summary: Wren to the Rescue Review: I first read this book when I was ten. I am now sixteen and I am still reading it. I've read it so much my back cover has come off! It is really exciting and so believeable that is why I love it so much. Wren, Tess, Conner, Tyron, & everybody else are so real they become your friends and enimies as well. The two other books are just as great as this one. I own all of them and read them constantly. You cannot give Sherwood Smith enough praise on her writing skills. I've grown to know these people and I hope to read more sequals to the "Wren" stories. There are some questions I would like cleared up such as who did train Andreus? And when Wren, Tyron, & Conner were traveling through that tunnel and Tyron walked off and found that cave w/ the wonderful ceiling painting, where was the light coming from and was it really painted from a surface area in their world or from the Iyon Dyon world? Another thought I personally I think Wren deserves to hook up with a guy (Prince Conner! Hint! Hint!)after all she's done and been through. After all how many of us could wake up to find out that we've been changed into a dog and actually make it a fun expirience? I know I couldn't. Throughout the three books each of the characters grow up and mature. Tess seems to most of all b/c of the death of her mother and father (that really made me cry)...my advice is to read and own these books. They will add lots of laughs, tears, and joy to your life...
Rating: Summary: Amazing Series- For a Lifetime Review: I first read Wren to the Rescue when I was 9 years old and fell in love with Wren, in fact I found her a kindred spirit in many ways. I had no clue there were two other books *and a fourth waiting for publication* til YEARS later (when I became internet savvy. I picked up Wren's Quest and Wren' War when I was 18 and unlike many other young adult books that you may pick up and feel that they are obviously "YOUNG" adult books, it was quite apparent that Wren, just like me, had grown up, matured. It was a great reunion. Unlike the Harry Potter stories Wren is entirely Original, wasn't made for the money, and the charachters aren't typecast. That isn't to say the Harry Books are bad- but Wren is definitely of a higher calibur- if you liked Harry though, you will love Wren. I have absolutely no hang-ups about having these three books on my coffee table, I'm sure you won't either.
Rating: Summary: Excellent!! Review: I honeslty think I have read this book at least a hundred times. I fell in love with it the minute I picked it off the shelf and read the book flap. It combines action and adventure, magic and intrigue. Years later when I first saw two new Wren books on the shelves I almost cried. TREMENDOUS. Read it!!
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: I just read this book recently, and I have to say that I liked it. Wren is a likeable character, and the book was very entertaining throughout the whole book. But I didn't like the parts where they kept skipping from Wren to the castle, and back to Wren again that drove me nuts! But it was a good book on the whole, although I enjoy Tamora Pierce MUCH more.
Rating: Summary: Wren to the Rescue Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! i first read it about six years ago and fell in love with the wonderfully written characters. Now im a twenty year old college student and picking up this book is like going home and revisiting long lost friends of my childhood. I would recomend this series to any age, i dont believe them to be just a "young adults" books. My one wish is to see Sherwood Smith come out with a fourth Wren story.
Rating: Summary: Buy it or read it any way you can!!!!! Review: I picked this up when I was inn the third grade, and loved it. Since then I can't find a book to beat it, though many come close. I find all the characters very deep, and each unique. They were all thought out very well. I love Tyron and Connor as well as Wren. I also find Leila, Halfrid,Idres and all the other characters wonderful. It incorporates humor in with action. However, this is definately a children's book. Don't read it expecting it to read like an adult book would. And there is no romance. Sherwood Smith adds romance in later novels, that I WOULDN'T suggest reading, but not this oone. I can't say enough about this book. READ IT!!!
Rating: Summary: This is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read Review: I read this book for the first time a couple years ago and I love it! Wren's character is beautifully well rounded: she is eternally sarcastic, loves anything to do with plays and the people who bring them to life on stage. She also loves magic and is eager to learn; in some cases too eager. She stands by her friends, would do anything to protect them. The story is original and well written, as are the other books in the series. It is a tale of one girl's bravery and courage used to save her best friend at all costs.
Rating: Summary: It's a great pleasure reading book. Review: I think that this book is a magical mystical story full of adventure and highly recommend it. It's great!
