Echo left me whith an advanced state of hyperpyrexia. Francesca writes with the words of a soul speaking through a pen and paper touching the hearts of others and forever changing lives. Echo is about a girl who could never live up to what other people wanted her to live up to. Everyone had expected her to be like her mother, and for their difference, she loses her fathers love. Yet Echo will soon learn that her mother is only human when her father becomes ill with cancer. Yet, this leaves Echo at an end, for all of her life she was always "Not Her Mother" and now she must embark on a journey to discover her true self. She meets vampires, faeries, changlings, and enchantresses, suffers from Anorexia, heartache, drug abuse, and emotianal breakdowns. All on the search for herself and that one boy who she knows is meant for her. We all are our own Echo, we are all searching for our own true selfs. The question is, how will you live until you know? In a world full of cliches and cults, where it is a struggle to be an individual. Echo will give you a boost with your journey, until you discover that relieved and happy feeling of finally being able to know your own soul. After reading this book I read The Rose And The Beast, I Was A Teenage Fairy, Weetzie Bat, and Violet and Claire. I cannot wait to read my next FLB book. I hoard her books like oxygen, there messages have helped my find the true writer withen myself.

Echo is a girl who is convinced that she is not very pretty and the only things she has talent in is evil. But that proves to be wrong when series of tests in love, friendship, and death face her. Through this heart-filled painful period Echo learns from her mistakes and how to look towards the future. This book tells her story.WHen I picked this up I was a little iffy about it. WHile I do enjoy Francasca Lia Block's wiritng style I either love her books, or could do with out them. THis book was not a dissapointment for me. The story is wonderful, symbolic, and poetic. I'd love to read more by Block. I reccomend this to anyone who dosen't mind strange but entertaining tales and who's a fan of Blocks writing. On another note.... Peace and prayers to all the victims of the recent plane accident. My heart is with everyone affected.

I, on the other hand, enjoy it to no end. i read it in one sitting, and found myself amazed at the beauty of the words. i borrowed it from a friend, and now i plan to buy it to give it another read-through. give it a shot. not eveyones going to like it, but those who do will love it.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: a good comeback for fransesca Review: i really liked this book. i was disappointed by fransescas newer works, like the rose and the beast and nymph. echo is truer to weetzie bat, or violet and claire. its beautiful, dreamy, sparkly and poetic. the book was a little confusing in it's constantly changing narrators overall though, the changing narrators were a good part of the book because it gave so much insight to the various characters, which really added a lot to the story. the story is basically that of echo and it kind of travels through her life, simultaneously telling the story of people around her like her mother, father, and friends. echo is a girl in La. her mother is an angel, her father is an artist. in the story she meets angels, crazy muscled vampires, actors, rock stars, rock stars children, all sorts of people. like most of her books, this book has many themes, but the main one is always love. searching for love, trying to keep love, witnessing love. the book is well written, with the wonderful scenery and characters that always come from fransesca lia block. its not weetzie bat (what ever will be?) but its definitely one of her better books.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An interesting book Review: I chose to read this book because the title caught my eye and the first chapter's phrasing gripped me from the start. Francesca Lia Block has a noticeably melodious phrasing style, and that makes whatever she writes seem real, whether it's vampires, fairies, mermaids, or angels. I love her world and I have grown to love it even more as I have graduated into her other books, I Was a Teenage Fairy and yes, inevitably, Weetzie Bat. This story is of a girl named Echo (what a pretty name!). She has grown up with an mother so beautiful that she might just be an angel, and a father who gradually began to ignore her because he was wrapped up with his love for his wife. After some trying events at home, Echo goes away to find better things and ends up in a world that I, the fantasy fan, have a hard time imagining. Like many readers, I found the book a bit hard to follow because of changes in narration, but I think if you read it with a clear mind and give it all your attention when you read, you will find it easier to handle.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Echo By Block Review: I read this book about a year and a half ago, it had a very unique feel to it and I have never experienced that in a book before. Blocks way of writing in this book is very insperational, it opens your mind and makes you feel like you are there with Echo. I think that anyone between the ages of 15 to 30 will really enjoy this book, I know I did.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WOW...HELP Review: I JUST STARTED THIS BOOK LAST NIGHT AND I READ THE FIRST PAGE AND WAS HOOKED. I LOVED ALOT OF HER BOOKS AND ALL ARE REALLY BREATH TAKEING BUT SOMEWHAT CONFUSIING. I STILL HAVE ABOUT 20 PAGES TO GO BUT RIGHT NOW IM CUFSED TO DEATH! HER BOOKS ARE ALWAYS OUT OF ORDER BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO KINDA MENTALLY TAKE NOTE OF EACH CHARACTER AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO OTHERS, THAT MAKES IT EASIER. BE CARFUL BECAUSE EVERY OTHER CHAPTER OR SO IS A PAST ABOUT A DIFF CHARACTER AND HOW THEY GREW UP JUST METALLY OR PHYSICALLY WRITE DOWN THE CHARACTERS. OTHER THEN THAT THE BOOK IS REALLY INTERESTING AND PRETTYMUCH ANYONE CAN RELATE TO ATLEAST ONE ISSUE THAT THE AUTHOR USES IN THIS STORY.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Very Disappointing Review: I saw Echo in the book store, picked it up and looked at the back to see what it was about. All it said was "Exquisitly wrought coming-of-age story. This of course is not a summary, or any hint as to what this story is about. So I take a chance and buy it. I get home and start to read it. I was very confused. There isn't any strange words used, as in Shakespeare for example. But the words are out of order. The story itself does not follow any direction. You always seem to be reading from another character's point of veiw. This may not seem bad, but only until you are almost done with the chapter, do you even know who you are reading about. Maybe this story was over my head, although I don't believe it is, since I have read much deeper books than this. All in all I give it one star. It wasn't terrible, but it could have been a lot better.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: An interesting but unfortunate read Review: It's true, this book had an interesting storyline, and the language use was captivating and beautiful, that I'll admit. Unfotunately, I now and always will think of this book as "what happens when a poet tries to make the transition to fiction and misses the mark". I loved this book for its exquisite and rarely found use of descriptiveness, but the susbstance of the story was sadly thin. If you want to be dazzled by words but don't care for a real story, then look no further! But if you want something award worthy, keep searching.
