Summary: Great!
Review: I really related to this book because I am a little like Donna. I could not put this book down for a whole hour. Even though Tara gets over her OCD, Sam relapses and winds down terribly. That is the most sad part in the book. I can just feel how Tara felt. Great, great, and more great.

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: I got this book yesterday and I finished it in 1 and a half hours. It was recomended to me by a friend of mine at school. The cover was cool so i decided to give it a try. As soon as I got the book, I was swept away into a wonderful story about a girl with obsessive behavior. Tara Sullivan begans getting weird habits at the age of 10 and from then on they get much much worse. Her habits get so bad that she had emotional breakdowns and she can no longer hang out with her firends. Her mother thinks that she is going mad and send her to many doctors. Finally she finds a friend in the super cool chic Donna, who indulges in drugs, smoking and unsafe sex. That just goes to show that you can find friendship in the strangest places. When she is with Donna, her counting, praying, and arranging habits dissolve. Then she meets the incredicble cute Sam, a boy with OCD too. Together they find strength enough to fight the tyrants in their heads. The book ends magnificantly and I think that tara and Sam deserve a SEQUEL! This book was great for me because, even though I don't have OCD, I have some weird habits too, like folding my clothes before I wear them, skipping the first and last step on the stairs, obsessive neatness , and certain eating habits. Reading about other peoples' "quirks" makes it easier to understand my own quirks.

Summary: fab book
Review: This was an amazing book! Even though I'm not obsessive compulsive, somehow I could relate. The author is unbelievable. She really draws in the reader and makes you feel like part of the story. When Tara is rejected, you feel her pain, when she's accepted, you feel warm and fuzzy inside. I definitely reccomend this book to you guys in cyberspace.

Summary: KISSING DOORKNOBS REVIEW
Review: THIS IS A GOOD BOOK TO READ IF YOU HAVE ANY OBSESSIVE PROBLEMS TO RELATE TO THIS. OR IF YOU HAVE SEVERE FAMILY PROBLEMS AS WELL. THIS IS A LITTLE SLOW GETTING TO THE WHOLE MAIN PROBLEM OF THE STORY. BUT ONCE THE STORY "PICKED UP" I COULD'NT PUT THE BOOK DOWN EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS TO RELATE TO THIS STORY. I FOUND IT VERY INTERESTING EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT FIND THESE KINDS OF BOOKS VERY FASCINATING.

Summary: Incredibly Wonderful- A Must Read
Review: This book was INCREDIBLE. It was well written and easy to relate to. If you have struggled with OCD, you can understand what the main character felt. This was a very touching book. It was hard to put down. I've recommended it to all my friends.

Summary: Look into a strange world
Review: I loved this book. I'm 17 years old and am very interested in the 'disfunctions' of the brain. This look into OCD made me think about all the things that I do. I even sometimes found myself doing what the main character was doing like not stepping on cracks, worrying about my family and so on. My favorite part of the book was the present Sam gave the main character. What a great, thoughtful gift. Read this book if you have OCD or not, or if you just want a look inside the crazy mind of a pre-teen. LOVED THIS BOOK!

Summary: Pretty good book
Review: I liked the book because is very real and shows how the girl feels. But some parts are too repetitive, I know thats just a way to describe a feeling or something but I find it kinda anoying. And at the final chapters when everything becomes so happy etc etc come on! Lifes not like that.

Summary: Kissing Doorknobs- The Struggle of OCD
Review: "'Answer the Door!' my father yelled. He nervously pulled back a tiny piece of the curtain to reveal who was standing on our porch. I just kept counting evenly. Trying to ignore everything. 'It's Allan Jacobson!' he groaned. Pain and fear leaked out of my father's voice and enveloped me like a blanket. Mr. Jacobson was my father's old friend from college who was also the local high-school teacher. A cold river of perspiration broke out on my neck. Without looking at my father's face, I could hear the horror in his voice."

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have voices in your head telling you to do things repeatedly, as though the voices were a broken record? Probably not. But for Tara, the voices won't go away. From the time she wakes up to the time she goes to bed, she is forced to do minuscule actions a certain number of times, for no reason at all. It all started the day she was on the playground and some kid yelled, "step on a crack, break your mother's back!"

Kissing Doorknobs is a disturbing book about a girl with OCD(obsessive compulsive disorder) who does not understand what she is being put through. Her frustrated mother tried everything to get her daughter to stop doing these ridiculous actions, while her friends gave up on trying to comprehend what she is doing, and her dad just bleakly stood there, not knowing how to make sense of what his daughter continually did. As everything in her life takes a turn for the worst, Tara keeps going on a downward spiral, unable to stop the voices from controlling her every move. Her frustration mixed with the rest of her emotional struggle gives this book a special flair, and the readfer unable to put it down.

The author, Terry Hesser Spencer, captures true emotions by using detailed and easy to understand descriptions, and the reader easily able to see what Tara is going through. It is not a difficult read, and a perfect book when looking for something satisfying. It is written in an easy-to-understand fashion, yet keeps the reader captivated throughout. A perfect book for any young adult!

Summary: This is an incredible book!
Review: I think the book Kissing Doorknobs is a must read. It's an incredible story and gives a lot of information on OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). This book is about a girl named Tara who discovers she is paying more attention to the cracks on the sidewalk after she hears the rhyme, "Step on a crack and break your mother's back." Slowly her problems get worse she talks to trolls, kisses the front doorknob every time she wants to leave the house, prays every time someone swears in front of her, worries about her parents staying out late, stays up until they get home, and organizes her food before she eats it. These problems become noticed by classmates who begin teasing her. Her sister, Greta, wants to defend Tara and will even beat people up for her.

Tara's mother gets really frustrated with Tara and hits her every time she kisses the doorknob. She repeatedly goes to psyciatrists that can't seem to help her. This continues until Tara's dad has a visitor over. This visitor knows about OCD and suggests that OCD might be what is causing Tara's problems. He gives her the name of a special psychiatrist that can help her, and the name and number of one of the doctor's patients. Tara does visit the "special" psyciatrist even though she "hates" her. She meets Sam, who has problems with washing his hands to often, and they begin to get involved...until and unexpected event happens and it changes everything

Thsi book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I couldn't wait to pick it up and let the book pull me in and fill the environment around me with it's vivid details. I had to be forced to put it down because this book was the kind of book that you want to finish reading once you start it because of the suspense. I woiuld recommend it to anyone because of it's quality. I loved this book and hope there will be a sequal because of how abrupt the ending was.

Summary: Kissing Doorknobs Book Review:GREAT
Review: I would recommend this book because so many different people can relate to it. For instance, teens growing up all face difficult and confusing problems and sometimes feel as though they have no one to talk to or that no one can understand what they are going through. In reading "Kissing Doorknobs", you understand that there are people out there that can help you and will listen and care. The book was about a girl named Tara growing up with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and being confused because she didn't know what she was suffering from. She finally found out what it was and found the strength and courage to defeat the "tyrants" in her head. If you were reading this book and had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, then it might help you find the courage and strength, just like Tara, to defeat this terrifying disease.
