Summary: Absolutely inspiring!
Review: This novel grips you from the very first page. Ordinary French citizens risk their lives to help complete strangers end the war. Each character is wonderfully created, and the author seems to effortly make you care about every one of them. The fact that every situation created in the novel could have happened only adds to it's brilliance. YOU MUST READ IT!

Summary: Under a War-Torn Sky
Review: This story takes place during World War II with nineteen-year-old Henry Forester at an Air Force Camp. He is one of the best fliers in his squadron. He engages in combat with the Germans when he is shot down. He lands behind enemy lines and searches for a way home. With the help of the members of the French Resistance, he gets closer to home day by day. He is smuggled to other towns by friendly allies. However, he encounters many dangers, captures, and deaths of others throughout his journey. Eventually, though, he makes it safely home to his family.

I read this book because of its fascinating summary on the back of the book. It provided me with enough persuasion to make me want to read it. In addition, I enjoy reading about World War II. I enjoy learning about it through these kinds of books, too. The cover picture intrigued me as well. Looking at it for the first time, I knew I had found a book worth reading.

My favorite part was when Henry engaged in air-combat with other fighter planes. It gave me a realistic depiction of what was going on and how terrifying it would be if were to take his place in this scene. Henry managed to survive the bullets being shot at him before the last one shot him down completely. I was amazed at how descriptive it was. Overall, I greatly enjoyed this part of the story.

Summary: The True Cost Of Freedom
Review: This was a very quick and enjoyable read, even if directed towards younger readers. At times, it even brought me to tears. A good portrayal of the hardships and risks that were taken by so many during the Nazi occupation of Europe to help get our soldiers back home from behind enemy lines. Henry was lucky. He came home. Take a moment to think about all those who didn't. This should be required reading for all of those who take our everyday freedoms for granted. It should make us all think about how fortunate we are to enjoy the freedom we have.

Review: Under a War Torn Sky By L.M. Elliot

Under a War Torn Sky by L.M. Elliot is a novel based on a true story about nineteen year old Henry Forester and his hardships as a military pilot in World War II. It starts out as a bad dream that eventually turns into reality when Henry and his crew are flying over Switzerland. His very suspenseful story caries him across Europe working as quickly and as quietly as possible to avoid being killed by the Germans. He never gave up, and kept going even with the death of many friends. The book is very suspenseful whether the chapter ends with a gun at his forehead, or his friend on the verge of dying. I only found one weakness of the book and that is I couldn't put it down for four or five chapters at a time. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys world war II or likes flying. Also anyone who enjoyed, Number the Stars By Lois Lowery I think would enjoy it. I really enjoyed this book a, lot and I hope many readers will enjoy it as well.

Summary: History as a Story
Review: Under a War Torn Sky deserves a place on the bookshelves of all history lovers. Always historically viable but never dry, the plot follows a young American pilot, Henry Forester, whose plane has fallen under Nazi gunfire. With nothing but his wits and the derring-do of the French Resistance workers aiding him, Henry must find a way to return to the United States. His journey takes many unusual turns; to hide from the Nazi officers who haunt every town he visits, Henry must assume many roles, ranging from that of a long-lost relative to the chauffeur of a wealthy French woman. L.M. Elliott tells her story with sincerity, compassion, and a careful attention to detail that places readers in the middle of war-torn France. I highly recommend this book to every fan of historical fiction and to readers looking for a new genre.

Summary: An exciting, not too gory tale about WWII
Review: UNDER A WAR-TORN SKY was so exciting! I loved it because it was always moving at a fast pace; there were no slow moments. There were vivid descriptions of places, but they didn't bog the story down. There was also very good character development in this book; I really got to know all about the characters. Whenever something happened I knew what Henry (the main character) thought or how he felt about it. The writing style was good because it wasn't too fancy and flowery, but it flowed well. It was pretty easy to read, but not too easy and childish. The content was also more mature than the writing (this book is about war, and it might be too intense for younger readers). This book taught a great lesson: "even during desperate times, people can still be kind and helping". Throughout the book, this theme keeps showing up, but it never gets too preachy. I like how the theme was worked into major part of the story; it teaches a lesson, but is exciting at the same time. UNDER A WAR-TORN SKY has a very exciting climax, where you have to keep reading or you'll die from the suspense. The only thing that I didn't like about this book was that the author would get you really attached to a character, and then he/she would die. Whenever someone died Henry would focus on all the good aspects of their character and what a tragedy their death was. Henry would dwell on this person's death until it seemed that they were a real person, and then I would think, "Why did this person have to die? He/she was too good to die in this manner!" I know that this is good; it helps explain that war is a terrible thing, but it was almost too intense for the reader to handle. This book was amazing, though, and I DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone interested in war stories. And for readers who don't like war stories: give this book a try. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Summary: A War Torn Sky - A Page Turner
Review: Well the book got off at a great start when it jumped right into the story! In the middle of the story, it was really suspenseful and kinda of sad. And it really grabs you and you're really involved with the story. Great recommend!!

Summary: Trapped Behind Enemy Lines
Review: When Henry's plane is shot down during an air battle (in WWII), he finds himself behind enemy lines with no help. Henry relies on friendly Frenchmen (and women) to make it to safety. The brave helpers risk their lives to save him, and in the end many of them are caught. Henry goes from family to family on his journey to safety. He gets caught by the Nazis, tortured and interrogated, but he still manages to not betray anyone who helped him. All throughout the story, Henry's adventures are described with details, making the reader feel as though they are right alongside Henry. It's a wonderful war story. Under a War-Torn Sky is one of the best war stories I've read.

It's action-packed, and every minute I was reading I found myself holding my breath, waiting to see what would happen. I wasn't disappointed. Some parts are sad, some are joyful, and some are suspenseful. I read the whole thing in one sitting, waiting to see what would happen.

I recommend this to anyone who wants to know about World War II, is interested in planes, or anyone that likes to read adventure stories. I think it would be best for ages 13&up - even grownups would enjoy it! So, if you fit any of those categories, READ THIS BOOK!!
