Rating: Summary: An entertaining, well-written, memorable series Review: I first discovered the books of L.J. Smith in 8th grade, and now as I head off to college, I know I will continue to buy her new ones and reread her old ones, esp. this series. This first book, while not as riveting as the rest in the series, does an excellent job of introducing the main triangle between Elena and feuding vampire brothers Stefan and Damon. There are also engaging supporting characters, such as Elena's best friends Meredith and Bonnie, and an engrossing mystery they all find themselves involved in. As an avid reader, I admit that there are times when the dialogue becomes trite and cliched, but the almost poetic beauty of Smith's writing in most passages cancels out those flaws. These are books both teens and adults can enjoy, and I urge those who like this series to read Smith's other series, esp. The Forbidden Game, Dark Visions, Night World, and The Secret Circle. While I admit more action-minded readers might be bored, I think everyone will find at least one L.J. Smith book they enjoy.
Rating: Summary: L.J. Smith has unbelievable talent!!!! Review: I loved each book in Vampire Diaries (can't underline)!!! My favorite of all of them was The Awakening because it was so mysterious and the first impression that Elena got of both brothers is so perfect that it builds the suspense. I read each book in no more than two book-gripping nights. I reread them all again two years later and read them with the same feeling of "I-have-to read-sydrome." I am never going to let any of them out of my sight-especially The Awakening. They will be passed down to any children I might have in the future. Every one of them, especially the first, played a great part in me taking a voracious appetite to reading. Before I read L.J. Smith's The Awakening, I only read required books at school. After I read The Awakening's first chapter I knew I had found a new love and I would forever be searching for her name in every bookstore I came across. I know that if you read it, you too, will feel compelled to search for her. Hopefully, she will write books for everyone to enjoy in the near future-Until then, I know a lot of people who will search the isles in each book store anxiously awaiting a brilliant work of fantasy to come into bloom. I recommend that if you read Larell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series and loved it, you will be enamored with L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries: The Awakening (as well as her other books in the series). It's the first book I ever really picked up and read cover-to-cover, and although I have read countless books since then, I remember Vampire Diaries: The Awakening (and the rest) like I just read them yesterday!
Rating: Summary: I liked it!!!! Review: I loved it. It was a good book. I have read almost all of L.J. Smith's books!! This is the best vampire book I've read besdies Secret Vampire!! I liked the stories and characters!! Stefan was cool!!!!!

Rating: Summary: Does the word "awesome" say enough? Review: I have been into L.J. Smith books ever since I read the Vampire Dairies series. I rarely get into books as much as I did this series. So I kept reading her trilogies and have not been disappointed once! Love her books!
Rating: Summary: I love this Book series! Review: The first time I had ever heard of Vampire Diaries was the CD-ROM game "The Vampire Diaries" it's a very challenging and intriguing game. It led me onto the book series which I found just as intriguing after experiencing the multimedia experience. I loved them, they were VERY well written and I encourage everyone to pick up a copy and start from the beginning, you won't be able to put it down until you're done!
Rating: Summary: I LOVE L.J. SMITH Review: I am a huge fan of L.J. Smith. (Can't you tell?) I especially like the Night World and Vampire Diaries, but I highly reccomend them all. To the reader from Florida: Don't be embarrassed; you're not the only one!
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ Review: It's a little slow in the beginning, but I read the end over and over. Number 2 is even better. The books leave you hanging at the end and give you a sneak peak at the end that makes you want to run to the bookstore to get the next one!!!
Rating: Summary: BRILLLLLIANT!!!!! Review: i have just finished the series and i have to say...It Rules..yet another skillful work by LJS. its was brilliant, you will love Stefan and Damon..i know i did, and be terminally jealous of Elena...... anyway JUST READ IT
Rating: Summary: Best series to read and reread and still be entertained Review: I stumbled on to this series at a book store many years ago. I couldn't believe that there were books this well done. This series takes you into it. You are right there watching everything happen. The flashbacks are extremely vivid also. Smith keeps you in her creation because you end up reading and rereading the series. The Diaries encaptured me to the point where I was crying my eyes out at times and I had to put the book down for a minute. I used to ignore my other novels and just read these. I would even take them to school and show my best friend. HE even began to love the series. It is well worth your time and money.
