Rating: Summary: This book challenged at my school Review: This award winning novel by Edward Bloor was unsuccessfully challenged by a group of parents whose students attend my school. The parents objected to racism, violence and by the father's lack of morals. I read the book and thought it was great. The main character was the moral center of the book. Sure, everyone was making unwise decision around her but Roberta rose to the challenge and really, set everyone straight. What an empowering book for teenagers....
Rating: Summary: THE GREATEST BOOK EVER Review: OK, i know i wrote a review before but i have a tons more to tell about the book. First off, for anyone who thinks that their life is heading a for a breakdown, read it. I read it and it inspired me (althought i never thought about it) to write. all my feelings of pain and sorrow vanished. I never felt so good reading a book. Roberta Ritter is the most complez, diverse, down to this earth character ive ever met. i wish ive really met her in this life of mine although i havent. She is the most wonderful person who you'd ever read out. she makes this book that master piece it is and she makes it the most greatest book of all time.

Rating: Summary: Zach's Awesome review Review: Overall a very interesting book. It was missing a few elements and seemed to be missing things in various places. Very entertaining to read and it was very hard to stop reading because it took you into another world. It really "gripped" your attention and had many twists and turns that kept you on your toes. It has a nice plot and ends in a way you would have never predicted. It also paints a picture in your mind with its detailed description. Roberta Ritter unravels her mysterious past with her mothers death. She finds out the causes of the outbreak of hate crimes and also looses some close friends. Her uncle's failing arcade is the only place where she can be alone to think about her life. This was a very good read for me and I enjoyed it very much.

Review: Oh my god!!!!I bought this book ... recently, and I am nearly done! The storyline is absolutely fabulous, and there are a lot of COMPLETELY unexpected things.I actually found myseld gasping quite loudly at some points.I would recommend you read this book if you're looking for a long but gripping read.
Rating: Summary: Definitely worth your time... Review: A really good friend of mine had let me borrow Crusader. I thought the cover was really cool and started reading right away. I have to admit the beginning is ssslllooowww. Several months passed by before I actually picked up the book again. Overall it wasn't bad. Very clever ending if I do say so myself. In fact, I LOVED the ending! lol Yep. But the book was wwwaaayyy long and it would have been just as good if not better if several unimportant parts were pulled out. It started getting very good towards the middle and better and better but yes the first part is pretty dull. I still recommend it. You'll most likely enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: crusader the best book in the YA world of books Review: this book is one if not , the best book i've ever read. it's so comepeling that you can wait to finish it and then your sad that you are done with it. i baugt it about a year ago with my mom in a walden book's store, i wasn't sure mom'd let me buy i but she did, and it changed my life. i gerontee that if you read it , it will do to you what it did to me. but be warned it's a 13-and-up- book theres abunch of cussing and viloence and it's very graphic.it's a great read at 591 pages, espcally if you are a fantisy lover like me it really brings you back down to earth ( like the movie Labyrinth , my favorite childrens movie, have you seen it?) this is the best book in the ya world of books!!!read it ,enjoy it, and pass the word on !!! it's the best book it's got it all . it's dark but has a good message ( like the song " stair way to heaven ")
Rating: Summary: "In a world without heros, you make your own." Review: That sentence is on the cover of the book. I cannot think of any better way to describe the plot of this absorbing story. The main character is a 15-yearl-old girl named Roberta. Roberta is frequently mistaken for a boy because she hasn't quite gotten out of puberty yet, her father is an ego-centric looser whose idea of parenting consists entirely of leaving a bag of rental videos by the door and frozen dinners in the freezer, and her only "friends" are the people who work in her family's arcade in a run-down mall on the not-so-nice side of town. The only person who seems to take an active interest in Roberta's life is Mrs. Weiss, the elderly owner of the greeting card shop across from the arcade. Mrs. Weiss is the only person who cares enough to ask if Roberta had breakfast or if she has seen her father for more than five minutes in the past couple of days. Mrs. Weiss also does her best to teach Roberta the one lesson she feels will help her the most as she tries to play the hand she has been dealt: No matter how bad life gets, you have got to survive. Never just lay down and die. Some parts of this book are very dark and very few are extremely light-hearted, yet the overall message is an encouraging one. It's not the Disney kind of encouraging, where if you only believe long enough then all of your dreams will come true. It's the Real Life kind of encouraging. If you keep trying to succeed, life will be better than if you give up. Roberta doesn't get to live Happily Ever After, but she has hope that she will live Happily Enough. This is possibly one of the most well-written books for young adults that I have found in a very long time. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys the more introspective styles of storytelling.
Rating: Summary: A book that would definetly be regreted if not read Review: THIS BOOK IS TOO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT (IN A GOOD WAY). IT'S SUCH A GOOD BOOK THAT I'D LIKE TO THANK GOD FOR EDWARD BLOORS BIRTH!...THIS BOOK IS PACKED WITH ENTHUSIASIM, LOVE, AND FRIENDSHIP. BELIEVE, JUST READ IT AND YOU'LL FIND OUT YOUR SELF. Rating: Summary: I guess I didn't get it... Review: As an adult reader of YA novels, I was excited to begin reading one with such an intriguing cover and setup. I enjoyed the book for the first quarter or so, whereupon the author decided not to credit the readers with the ability to detect subtle themes. He began to throw themes in the reader's face with absurd redundancy, in case the reader hadn't picked them up already. The book was unnecessarily dark, the characters completely one-dimensional with only one part to play in the book, and the action was coreographed to fit the theme, not necessarily the characters. A poor showing, stilted, and with all the subtlety of a racist remark in a public place.
