Summary: When Dad Killed Mom
Review: When Dad Killed Mom by Julius Lester is a good book for an assortment of reasons. Julius Lester is a very good author, capturing the reader's attention making the book hard to put down. The main characters,Jenna,Jeremy,Dad,Mom,and mom's best friend, Rachel, also make the book very suspenseful. The book is written in diary form from Jenna and Jeremy's point of view. This made it very easy to read and also fun. When Dad Killed Mom is about a family that gets ruined when Jenna and Jeremy's mother finds out that their dad is having an affair with a college student form the college he works at. However, soon after she confronts him and tells him that she is going to ruin his career if he doesn't leave; he panics and and viciously murders her by shooting her multiple times in the head while she is enjoying her morning coffee. I liked the book because not only did it have a lot of great details and suspense, it also had a good plot and you could tell that when Lester planned the book, he thought it through and made it very organized. If you are one who is into a book that inclides the agony and hardships that a family experiences, and love to read drama novels such as this, I guarantee that when you read When Dad Killed Mom you won't be able to put it down and you'll love it from the first page to the last.

Summary: engaging? i don't think so.
Review: When Dad Killed Mom by Julius Lester is a moving and tragic story of two kids, Jenna and Jeremy, whose mother is shot by their father. They are turned against each other in effort to support each's favorite parent. Jeremy is on his mother's side and Jenna is on her father's side at first, but she soon changes her opinion. I thought that the story line was a bit dull except when they were finding out some important information on what had been going on between their parents.
It was interseting to read about this family's crazy situation, but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, unless you have 5 hours of time to spare that you have nothing to do during and you have to do something or else you'll have to go help your mom clean the house and there is no other book for you to invest your mind in and you really don't want to vaccuum the stairs because you don't like to........... (sound familiar?). That's when it would be a perfect time to pick up this "engaging" novel of tragedy and peril.

Summary: The feng shui of When Dad Killed MOm
Review: When Dad Killed Mom by Julius Lester is an exceptional book. It has many aspects that really appeal to a teenager. Lester really does a great job of doing one thing throughout this book that makes it worth while to read. This one thing is characterization.
Lester really brings out the characters in When Dad Kills Mom. The reader can really get to know them and get a feel for what type of people they are and the sort of behaviors they exert. For example, you can really get a feeling that Jeremy is an intelligent young boy. He is a little shy, but is very free and outgoing when he is in the boundaries of his home. On the other hand, Jenna is an out going girl. She is very rebellious to her mother and has no consideration of others. She feels that she is alone in the world and that everyone wants to do harm to her. Nevertheless, as the story progresses, the reader can really see that Jenna becomes much more mature, understanding, and selfless. And that Jeremy becomes less shy and manlier. These two characters really make it a pleasure to read this book.
Nonetheless, the thing that really kept me reading was to understand how these kids really made it through their parent's death. How Jenna and Jeremy were able to stick together and were able to get their lives back together, knowing that their father will be in jail for the rest of his life and that their mother is gone from them forever.

Summary: Stop
Review: When Dad Killed Mom by Julius Lester was boringly predictable. The title gave away too much, if I had not read the title the book would have been more exciting and it would have been more fun to read it. Personally I do not enjoy books that are predictable and boring, but I would recommend it to someone who was square and enjoyed reading something unentertaining (that's just my opinion). It was also kind of weird like with the whole bathroom stall thing and stuff. It was interesting to read about their very messed up situation but all in all it was kind of deranged and freaky and something I don't like to read about in my free time. I had to read it for an assignment and I probably would have stopped reading it after like the first chapter if I had a choice.

Summary: When Dad Killed Mom
Review: When Dad Killed Mom has a first impression by readers and a cruel and ugly book. Then after reading the book most readers think that it was the best book of all. The story is about a family that had problem in the past and the dad got tired of it so he killed the mother in the town of birchfield. The kids, Jeremy and Jenna, went to school Jeremy to the elementary and Jenna to the middle school.
Jenna was in class when the principle came and took her to his office. He, after he told her what happened, took her to Jeremy's school and she waited there. Jeremy's teacher Mrs. Worthington came to Jeremy in his art class and brought him to the office where his sister sat on the couch crying. The principle told them both what had happened and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died and the mom died then and the mom died and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun and the mom died again profusely by a gun
The story was really good but not for ages 13 and under. It has some choice words and feelings that wouldn't be appropriate for some children. Otherwise the book is one of the best the reviewer has read.

Summary: Dark Intentions
Review: When Dad Killed Mom was a very exciting and interesting book. It was very dark and twisted. It really changes your whole perspective on marriage and what can happen if someone truly wants to get rid of another person. I think trust was a very big issue in this book. This book was one that you didn't want to put down because you wanted to find out what would happen next.

Jenna and Jeremy's dad was sleeping with a girl that wasn't their mother. When Rachel, their mother, finds out she wants to tell her the dean of students. When her husband finds out he shoots and kills his wife at a café. Their Dad's ex takes care of the kids while their father remains in prison. Their family seems as if it is falling apart. With the guilt and reality of what their father has done, they try to rebuild the strong family that they once were. When reality sets in neither Jeremy nor Jenna want to admit that their mother is actually gone for good, but then something happens. During the trial Jeremy finds his mother's diary. In the diary their mother has written everything that has been happening. Jeremy presents the diary to the jury and judge as evidence that it wasn't their mother's fault that she died. This is all the proof the court needs to sentence the dad life in prison.

This book has an impact on how you look at life. One minute you could be alive, healthy, and well. Then the next minute you are dead and buried 6 feet under ground. All in all this was a very good book.
