Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: One of my favorite books as a child. Review: I must have read this book 20-25 times as a child. It is interesting, well-written, and just a great all around story
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: On the Dull side Review: I read this book as a school assignment, and my teacher said that we wouldn't want to put it down. I soon found that statement to be false. This book is the story of a Polish family who gets seperated dring World War II. The children (Ruth, Edek, and Bronia)travel by land to get to Switzerland, hoping to find their parents. (their family planned to meet their if something should happen to seperate them). Along the way, they go through many trials, and meet some new people. I though that this story was far too predictable. I knew the ending from the very start. The book started and good and detailed in the first few chapters, but then it began to make a dive to a low level. The plotline was predictable and the writing boring, due to it's lack of description and lack details. The book skipped a period of about two years. Most of the time you have to guess what the character is thinking. I was only interested because I enjoyed the character, Ruth. Basically, this story gets a two from me because it didn't fit my qualifications for a "good book."
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An Extremely Full-filling Read! Review: I read this book when I was in sixth grade and Nancy Drew didn't cut it anymore. I think this should be on a standard reading list of some kind for young adults to read to help them realize, although the book is fiction, what the war was like for children in other countries. Even though I wasn't alive during the war, I still feel compassion more now than then.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Escape From Warsaw Review: I remember reading this in 5th grade. When I heard about it, I was like, "Aw, man this is going to be so BORING!" After my teacher got done reading it I wanted to smack myself for saying that. This book is so good that you will want to read it all the time. It is so vivid and imaginative, plus very suspenseful. You won't want to stop reading after you start, so go get this book now! It is really a wonderful book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Sad, yet very truthful Review: I thought that this book had a lot of truth to it. It was a book that struck the heart.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book struck my heart in what happened in Poland. Review: I was born in Poland but I didn't know it was so war torn. This book is truthful and all the characters reach out for our hearts.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A great resource for teachers Review: I was read this book in 5th grade and it has stayed with me ever since. I am working on my teaching degree and I am tutoring a girl in 10th grade with a 5th grade reading level. She loves this book! When I found out she needed a book to read for her history class, this immediatley came to mind. Yes, the plot can be simplistic and a bit too coincidental at times, but on the whole I have found this to be an excellent resource as well as a poignant lesson about WWII in its own right. I would highly highly recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Terrible. Review: I was surprised to see that other people liked this book. It was very boring, even for me, and I read a lot. The author shouldn't have tried to make it funny--one of the boys makes friends with a chimpanzee, for example! Don't waste your time with this!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Very Good Book. Excellent for young children. Review: I'm only 12 and my mom read this book and got it for me for english class. It's not an incredibly good book but it was good for what I needed. Not real detailed on the camps but good for young children first learning about the holocaust. A little boring at times ends happily (almost too much so). I would definitly reccomend it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: GRRRRRRRRRRREEEAAAT Review: if you are a world war two fan like me then you will just love this book
