Rating: Summary: The next Catcher in the Rye! Review: This is possibly the best book I've read in a long time....It's right up there on my list of favorites as number one next to Catcher in the Rye! I have had the pleasure of working with Davida Wills Hurwin and through dance, theater, and simply as a person her beauty shines through every aspect and that is exactly what shines through this book....I can't wait for the movie!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Time for Dancing Review: This book was about best friends and their lives were perfect. It was the summer of their senior year and their dancing career was really taking off. Then all of a sudden Julie is diagnosed with an untreatable form of cancer. This book takes you through the ups and downs of 2 friends battling this cancer and how hard, yet realistic it all is. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was so good I had a hard time putting it down. This was one of the quickest book I have ever read. I think I like it so much because in a way this relates to me because my grandpa has cancer and he was a perfectly healthy guy, that didn't deserve to get this cancer. This book went through the good and bad times of cancer. It was also a good learning experience for me. It was a very sad book and at times I felt I was going to cry. The author explained the characters very well and I would definitely read another book by this author.
Rating: Summary: SAD Review: When I first picked up this book, I thought that it was goingto be the saddest book I had ever picked up. "A Time For Dancing" is an extremely touching story that every person must read. The lives of both Samantha (SAM) and Juliana (JULES) are quite different from your average teenager, but every teenager and everyone else will be able to relate. If you do not like sob stories than don't buy it. However if you have ever lost anyone dear to your heart than this is a must read.
Rating: Summary: I can't rate this book anything below 5 stars...Beautiful. Review: I loved this book "A Time for Dancing." The novel was extremely realistic in many ways...including Jules's battle with cancer. My mother died from cancer, so I could relate to the story, especially from Sammie's point of view. Sammie felt like she was loosing her best friend, which is a very normal reaction. This novel covers everything. Friendship, romance, dealing with grief, righting the wrongs. I hope there's a sequel...in the meantime, I'm counting the days until the movie arrives in theaters starring Larisa Oleynik. (I think it's out this summer)
Rating: Summary: A Time for Dancing Review: Wow, what can I say, this was one of the greatest books that I've ever read. It really touched me, because I know how it feels to feel like you and your best friend are drifting apart. I couldn't help crying at the end, even though I was in the middle of a class I was taking. You can really relate to this book, and I love the format it was written in. Not to mention the fact that it is written so that a young adult ages 12-19 could understand it. Throughout the whole situation, Jules getting cancer, Sam having to watch her slowly suffer, not knowing what to do. I can't even imagine the pain they had to feel. I would truly suggest that you read this book, I promise that it will make you think.
Rating: Summary: A friend gone Review: This book tells a sad story about a friendship that is ruined by one little problem. Cancer. Samantha and Juliana have been dancing partners since they could remember. They always go to the beach and have fun. They dance the night away to let whatever is bothering them loose, but one thing stops them. They cannot go dancing until their heart's content because Juliana has leukemia , a type of cancer. Sam cannot stand seeing her best friend die. Sam will not be able to dance on the beach any more without thinking of all the good times the two friends had to together and auditioning for all the dancing programs. This book was very upsetting at times, but it helps girls and everyone that reads it understand what people go through when they have canser.Cancer is not something that we just hear about. It is something that is real and it does affect lives today. I liked the book because it was something that would really happen to people that have canser. But this book was a joy to read.
Rating: Summary: =) A really good book! Review: I think this is a very good book! Yes,it is sad, but that helps make a good book. You can really understand what sam and jules were thinking, and it made a wonderful connection.
Rating: Summary: A Time for Dancing Review: As I was reading A Timr for Dancing, I was laughing, crying, and wondering. Being a teenager makes you wish that you have more true friends that will always be there for you. That is how Sam was. Always there. Jules was her One and Only, and no one could change that. Throughout Julie's sickness, it just showed, how the truest friendship can break, but it is always up to you to fix it... it can always be done. My grandmother died of cancer a few years ago, and I never dreamed that chemotherapy could ever hurt so much. A Time for Dancing is one of the best books I have ever read. There are some of you who don't believe us... well, prove your point by reading it yourself... you will see what we mean. Read A Time for Dancing. :)
Rating: Summary: A Time for Dancing Review: I started reading this book for English class and I couldn't put it down. It was so hooking and inspirational. I loved how the two girls stayed best friends through everything. They were like soul mates. They shared many memories with each other. They both were in dance classes. It was sad to see that Jules had to drop out, but she pushed herself when she came back even thou she was deathly sick. The best thing was no matter what happened they were together throught thick and thin. While reading it I just kept thinking about what would happen if that was me. How would I deal with having cancer. Or what would it feel like to know that I was going to die soon. What would I do, what would I say to my friends and family. The book made me realize that I need to stay close to my good friends and to not waste my time with people that will pull me down. You only meet a few best friends in your lifetime and you have to keep them dear to your heart. The book made me really think and even brought tears to my eyes.
Rating: Summary: Can't stop crying Review: I just finished this book about 10 minutes ago, and I don't know what to say except that I can't stop crying. I started reading the book with a bit of cynicism and it took me about half way into it to really beging to feel for the characters. But, by the end of the book... well, it was one of the more touching stories about life, death, and friendship that I have read.
