Review: This was Tamora's 3rd worst book, and I still loved this! In fact, this was her first book I ever read. If I hadn't read this, I never would have discovered the other wonderful stories she weaves. If you don't have confidence in Tamora like I do, read one of her other books first, but don't skip this one.

Summary: The Alanna series is good, but Immortals is disappointing.
Review: I'm getting a bit tired of the animal communication already, and this is only the second book. Don't get me wrong, I like animals, but I don't think they would act this way. They're much too human-like. And the environmental themes seem a little too contemporary. Also I find it hard to believe that Daine likes domestic animals such as pigs-- how can a human face talking to an animal that was brought into the world only so that humans can kill and eat it? How could the animal be friendly to her? Daine is not a vegetarian-- the book is quite clear about that. This series, in contrast to Alanna, seems rather childish and reads almost like a cartoon. Song of the Lioness was much more "mature". I was actually reluctant to start this book, whereas I couldn't wait to find the next Alanna book. However, it is a slight improvement over Wild Magic, and Stormwings are (surprisingly) shown to have some redeeming qualities.

Review: I liked the first book better, but Wolf Speaker is still good. I love the animals she's friend with and how they help her. I can't wait to read the next book and finish the whole series. I just wish there was romance in this book, you know, the believable kind.

Review: Daine is back and in a most exciting adventure. this book is really good and is a sequl that lives up to the tamora pierce standard. I love how Daine learns how to shape shi, and learning more of her past from befor she meet Onua and came to Tortell. I love how they break the steryo type of the big bad wolf and save the city from destroying it's self, in much the way people are tring not to destroy the Earth.

Summary: Classic Daine, through and through!
Review: This book competes with The Realms of the Gods for the position of my all-time favorite Tamora Pierce book. I love it, because it really shows Daine's special relationship with the People by having her interact with them more than in the other books. And it's interesting to see into the minds of the wolf-pack that was so much a part of her life before she came to Tortall. Not only is Daine faced with the daunting task of toppling a conspiracy against the throne, but she has to somehow come to grips with the way her wild magic affects the animals she loves. It's really fascinating. You get to see that Daine is the sort of person who doesn't care about court protocol and what fancy-shmancy nobles think of her. She does act a little childish when dealing with Maura, the runaway daughter of the conspiritors, but that only makes her more realistic. You get to see the full reach of Numair's powers. You get to see another side of the Stormwings with the grudgingly loving Rikash. AND you get to see Daine converse with two loveable cats, Blueness and Scrap. This book really has something for everyone.
