Rating: Summary: Happily Ever After? Review: I have always been partial to fairy tales that tell what "really happened." I never really bought into the whole idea of happily ever after. Don't get me wrong I love a happy ending as much as the next person, but I want to know why. In Just Ella, Ella learns what it really means to live happily ever after. She makes her own destiny and finds out what it means to love, but most of all she does it with style. I like this book because it has a strong heroine who knows what she wants and then finds out a way to get it. Life in the palace may be a little extreme, but Ella has the ability to cope with it. I would recommend this book to teen-age girls who are wondering what kind of power they have in this world.
Rating: Summary: Just Ella by: Margaret Peterson Haddix Review: Have you ever wondered what happened to cinderella after the Ball or even about her side of the story? Well, if so this is the book for you. This story takes you through the life of Ella living with her step mother and sisters, going to the Ball and from there meeting Prince Charming. As you read this story, you get to see how Ella's life in the castle was not at all magical. Through Ella's eyes we get to experience how important it is to have values and know who you are. This book is great and very enjoyable to read. We highly recommend that this book be read by young and older adults for many reasons.
Rating: Summary: cinderella the reality Review: Just Ella was a great story that I think would be the reality of what happens after the classic, "And they lived happily ever after." The reason that I loved this book is because Ella Brown is a girl who, like the rest of us, dreams of that special person and finding that special romance where it is love at first sight. But once she gets the dream come true she finds that her true love is really a bore who only liked her for her looks anyway. And the rest of the story is full of adventure and humor. I liked this story so much that I bought it. This book was a REALLY good book that people of all ages will enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Just Ella Review: Just Ella has a surprising twist on Cinderella's life in the castle. In this "everything that glitters is not gold" story, Ella comes to the realization that Prince Charming isn't so charming after all. In fact, he's a jerk that can't make a decision on his own. Also, Ella isn't happy being "Little Miss Perfect" all the time. She likes doing things for herself instead of being waited on hand and foot. Margaret Peterson Haddix does a terrific job explaining the realistic side of Cinderella. It's not about fairy godmothers and mice. Instead, it's about a young lady finding out what she really wants in life. This fairy tale is somewhat shocking, but leaves you with a good feeling inside. Does Ella find true love and happiness? What's the real Cinderella story? It's all inside this great book.
Rating: Summary: it was ok Review: I think this book was ok..the ending was a bit disappointing, since it was already obvious in the begininng. I think the author did not make the character's feelings strong enough. The author should have wrote it so that we readers can actually feel the pain and loneliness that Ella is feeling. But overall, it was quite well written, so I gave it 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: I loved "Just Ella" Review: Just Ella was such a good book. It had action, adventure, and romance. Everything you wanted in a book! I read it in a day. It was great, though a little short. It's kinda a rewritten version of Cinderella (Cinders Ella, how cute!). This book reminded me of Ella Enchanted (has nothing to do with the name "Ella"), but this seemed like a shortened version. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves to read. I couldn't put it down for a second! The ending was a little dull. But an awesome book.
Rating: Summary: It was a really great book! Review: I thought this was a really good book. I would recomend this book to anyone who loves a good story. I couldnt put it down and found myself reading it untill my eyes closed. I hope people can enjoy this book as much as I did!
Rating: Summary: Just Ella Review Review: Did Cinderella have fairy godmother? Was Prince Charming as "charming" as he seemed? Just Ella will change your view of the classic Cinderella story. It made me think differently. Princess Cynthiana Eleanora (Cinderella or Ella) is engaged to the prince. She is living in the luxurious rooms of the castle. Ella isn't hungry anymore either, nor does she have to work. She is living in the dreams of many. The dream turns out to be a prison. People always telling her what to do, and how to act can make it worse. Ella isn't the helpless girl in this story. She is a smart and witty fox. This twist in the story will change everything you know as Cinderella.
Rating: Summary: The Kind of Cinderella Every Woman Should Be Review: I'm thirty-six years old and was purchasing this book for my niece, whose eight, to read. From page one, I was absolutely hooked. This Cinderella is so far and above the whimpering Disney model, and for that I was glad. This princess knew exactly what she wanted. She was strong, courageous and resourceful every step of the way. This book contained so many important lessons for girls and women of all ages. Lessons about love, about being true to one's dreams, and about going for one's goals. It's nice to know Prince Charming wasn't as charming. I can already hear the backlash, that Just Ella is nothing more than a feminist slant on a classic faerie tale. But if you know anything about the genre, faerie tales in their original form were not the warm and fuzzy stories we've been over staurated with. The original tales were dark and rather forbidding in tone. They were life lessons. My niece will be reading this book quite soon, and I will be giving copies to every young girl I know. In fact, I will be handing some copies to a few women friends as well.
Rating: Summary: The Dragon Lady Review: First, you should know that this story is not original. It copies Ella Enchanted in many ways, And it is hard not to read this book without comparing it to Ella Enchanted. But once you get over that, you will find that this book is actually very good. The beginning has left some to be desired, the heroine not being particularly likable. But as the story progresses, and the character matures, you begin to care what happens. The book redeems itself nicely with a very good second half that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Over all, with it's flaws and virtues, I give this book four stars. Other books you will enjoy: The Great Harry Potter books by Joanne Kathleen Rowling Running Out Of Time, by Margaret Peterson Haddix Ella Enchanted and The Two Princesses of Bamarre, by Gail Carson Levine The Great His Dark Materials series, by Phillip Pullman
