Rating: Summary: SADLY DISSAPOINTED Review: I WOULD BE LYING IF I DIDN'T SAY THAT I WAS DISSAPOINTED AFTER READING JUST ELLA. IT WASN'T WHAT I EXPECTED IT TO BE AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE MORE ECITIING.I THOUGHT THIS BOOK WOULD BE MORE SIMAILAR TO ELLA ENCHANTED. I ABSOULUTLY ADORED ELLA ENCHANTED. IT WAS MAGICAL FUNNY AND BREATHETAKING. JUST ELLA WAS TOOO REALISTIC AND IT DIDN'T FULLY MAKE SENSE. YOU GET THE FEELING THAT THE AUTHOR DIDN'T REALLY HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO THINK THE WHOLE STORY OUT. THIS BOOK SORT OF FELT RUSHED AND REALLY UNBELIEVABLE. IF YOU READ ELLA ENCHANTED I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT. I WOULDN'T BE SURPRIZE IF THIS BOOK ENDED UP REALISTIC. IT JUST DOESN'T HAVE THAT EUNIQUE FELLING THAT OTHER AUTHOR SUCH AS J.K ROWLING AND GAIL CARSON HAD. ALTHOUGH IF YOU JUST WANTED TO READ A SWEET BOOK AND IF YOU WERE BORED. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT WAS OK.
Rating: Summary: Just Ella was an awsome book! Review: Just Ella was a great twist of the "classic" tale of Cinderella. Romance, adventure and in parts sadness. Once you start the book, you wont be able to stop! If you like books like this, I recomed Ella Enchanted.
Rating: Summary: So-so Review: I really like books that have something of everything-humor, romance, action, etc. 'Just Ella' wasn't as good as I expected, but it was fun to read especially for those who enjoy fairy tale kind of stories. The plot was a little...gawky? I'm not sure if that's the word I want to use, but it was a little awkward, at least to me. It didn't really make sense to me about the refugee camps and war between the prince's kingdom and some other place. It just didn't really click. The ending left me hanging- I couldn't believe that was it. It didn't really explain what happened to the characters. Also, the book was similar in many ways to the movie "Ever After," in the respects that there was no magic in the story. I don't know, but I just didn't really enjoy this book very much. I'd advise you to wait for it in paperback before spending too much money on it, or borrow it from your library. Books like this I would recommend: Ella Enchanted, definitely
Rating: Summary: The Truth Review: It was a wonderful novel. I was hooked I read it only a few hours. It is an interesting veiw point of the story of Cinders-Ella. I loved the ending.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: I could not put the book down. I finished it in 3 days. youshould read this book.
Rating: Summary: Cinderella with a twist? Review: Well in might have the same evil step-mother, but this book is truely original. No fairy godmother helps Ella out. Who says cinderella lives happily ever after? Who says the prince didn't just care how pretty she was? How else would he know he really loved her when he first saw her? Ella is engaged to Prince Charming. She hates castle life and being prim and proper. And she hardly gets to see her husband to be. How is she supposed to marry him when she never gets to see him? When Ella does see him he seems arogant and pigheaded. her ladies in waiting are no better. The only people she can talk to are sevants. Is this what Ella wants for the rest of her life? She needs to make a decision and fast. What would they do if she says she doesn't want to marry the prince? ......I loved this book because it shows that if you want something you have to go out and work for it and not count on a 'fairy godmother'. It also shows that there might not be a happily ever after just because someone is rich or hansome; no matter what anyone says, 'it's wht's on the inside that counts.'
Rating: Summary: Too Unbelievable Review: I waited and waited for this book since I like Margaret Peterson Haddix as an author. But Ella came across as really snotty, the prince and his family came across as too stupid and the idea of the refugee camp seemed way too far fetched! I just kept on saying "Oh brother!" and shaking my head throughout the novel. If the book had been placed in a contemporary setting then I may have liked the story. The love story part of the novel was sweet, but on the whole it did not work in my opinion.
Rating: Summary: twist the tale Review: I am only 13 but this book was a really good book for people that love fantasy and even people that don't. Everyone has heard the old fairy tales but this book puts an interesting and exciting twist on that old tale. When i was reading this book i didn't want it to end because i loved it so much. for those of you who still have a little of the old "happily ever after" fairy tale, maybe you should think again and why you are doing it read this book!
Rating: Summary: not your ordinary book Review: Most books for kids and young adults are put in one two categories. category #1- girls are weak, and don't really do much. the participate, but none of the imprtant stuff is done by girls. Category #2- the main girls in the story are ultimate tomboys, who despise all things 'girly'. Girls are not all of either category. most books don't reflect that a girl can like balls and dresses *and* think, work, and fight just as well as male characters. this book is a perfect *companion* book to ella enchanted... different, but both are good.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Cinderella with a brain. Review: It's nice to know that Cinderella finally came to her senses! You see, in this story, Ella (*just* Ella, no Cinder) is living in the palace with her wedding with the prince coming up. For a while she's really happy. But then, as much as she tries, she really can't love the airheaded Prince Charming, and to be honest, life as his fiance is a bore, and it's only going to get worse. But when she tries to call off the wedding, Prince Charming throws her into the dungeon! Quite a predicament, but of course Ella pulls through. If no one is going to save her, she'll just have to save herself--and she does, quite admirably!
I really enjoyed this story. I always thought that the Cinderella story was so trite--Cinderella has a hard life but Prince Charming comes and makes it all better. How sweet. *gag* But, Miss Ella has a brain (yay!) and she actually uses it! A fun, enjoyable, all-around-great book.
