Rating: Summary: this is my favorite book........... Review: You would think that a book based on a fairy tale would be very predictable and VERY boring. I had already read "Ella Enchanted," and I was thinking, 'what's the difference?' After reading this book I have not found any book that I like as much as it. It is more modern than other Cinderella stories, and it has an end with a twist. And I should know about Cinderella, I was in it.............(a seventies version, blah)
Rating: Summary: This book is the best! Review: This book is great! I've read it about twenty times and I'm working on my 21st. I still cant put it down. Ella, is now engaged to the prince but soon finds out something that gives the plot an amazing twist. It hooks you even if you've read it before. It has beutiful discriptions and a recreation of Cinerella. This is definately a book you'll want to get.
Rating: Summary: A VERY different version of the Cinderella story ! Review: This is a great book. It is very different from the fairy tale version of Cinderella, which is probably why I found it to be so intriguing. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a good story with plenty of adventure, romance, and uniqueness.

Rating: Summary: Bland drivel Review: The concept was interesting, but the magic wasn't there. Spare me, please, the anachronistic medieval maidens with the politically correct agenda of today. This story, if well-written, could have been beautiful in its own way but I found the dialogue and the narration plodding and painfully dull. As many other reviewers have noted, there was none of the enchantment one wants when reading a fairy tale. I actually rolled my eyes during some of the more self-righteous passages. The characters were stereotypical and dull, especially Prince Charming. A good writer surprises and delights her readers and that didn't happen here.
Rating: Summary: A really great book!! Review: I think this book was great! This book is kind of like a sequal to Cinderella. It tells you what happens after she marrys the prince and how she deals with her new life. Margaret Peterson Haddix is my favorite author and all her books are fabulous!
Rating: Summary: I wasn't exactly on the edge of my seat, but a good read! Review: My friend recommended me this book. I thought it was good, but not as magically wondrous as it seemed. I would have given it a 3 1/2, but a four was as close as I could get. As far as the plot goes, it took a while to gradually get to the climax, and there were some parts where it seemed just really slow-moving, even irrelevant in very (very very!) few places. You got to know the characters a lot, but I really have to say that there was a point where we met a character, and by one of his actions, I immediately could predict the end of the book. Okay, enough of what I didn't like, here's the good stuff. It was different in a good way-it seems these days all of the these new-fashioned Cinderella stories and movies are all junk, but this one was actually good. It looked at the original story from a completely unique angle, giving you a whole different view on this fairy-godmother-and-pumpkin idea. Some of the ideas and plot twists were pretty interesting, and some were really REALLY unexpected, and a few were even pretty funny. The ending made sense, but it left you hanging a little, only you pretty much know what's going to happen. I would recommend getting this book to read if you have a while to sit down. Hot Chocolate seems to enhance the enjoyment, teehee, but over all it is a pretty good book, and not really scary, so people over 11 or 12 should be able to read it, and it won't keep you up all night, wondering what will happen next, or be afraid that the bad guy is going to "get you", so it's appropriate for all ages, and the little added details make it a fun book to read.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't stick to the original plot line, but a great read Review: Cinderella is really one of my favorite fairy tales, well when I was a little kid; it was my favorite Disney movie. Well, behind Aladdin and the Little Mermaid. But anyway, I have loved all of the Cinderella retellings that I have read so far. This was a fresh new retelling of the tale, and really did a good job explaining what the downside to palace life is like. The Prince, for example, infuriated me with his lack of a brain. He may have been a Charming, and incredibly handsome, but he was so dull-witted, well we all know someone like that. I really liked how I could identify with the views of Ella. Whenever I can relate to the opinions of any of my favorite characters in a book, I just love it! And Ella is the type of good role model that you sometimes can't find in fairy tales, for the females are usually dull-witted, just like Charming. Ella doesn't fit into the carefully sanded edges of a typical princess mold. Madame Bisset knows this, and tries to change her frequently. I hated the characters of Madame Bisset, Prince Charming, and Quog, that disgusting rapist guy. They just made me so ANGRY! Well all I can say is, I really enjoyed it, so buy your self a copy! Try Haddix's other books too; I liked all of them. One of my favorites is Leaving Fishers.
Rating: Summary: Ella Enchanted Review: I loved Just Ella almost, if not better than, Ella Enchanted. It was full of fun characters and colorful settings. The story has just the right touch of humor and is hard to put down. I enjoyed the storyline and the flow of the book. The only thing thing I didn't like about it was the ending. Its stoppped abruptly and I felt that the story was never concluded. I like to be told whats happening rather than imagine it on my own. Other than this, I thought the book was great, and deserves 5 stars, even with what I felt was a glitch.
Rating: Summary: It has VERVE! Review: A single word to describe this book? Zest. Perhaps, Verve. This book takes (Cinder) Ella, just after the prince has wanted her to marry him. Living in the castle, she finds that she would rather be normal again...even though she hated normal, she LOATHED being scolded for making her own fire. I didn't find this book at all feminist as some have called it, it was what is known as A SPIN on an old tale. "Ella Enchanted" by Gail Carson Levine though a spin on the same fairy tale, was from a totally different angle. Just because they are both based on Cinderella, doesn't mean they should follow the same pattern. Haddock explores the question: "What if fame and fortune isn't all it's cracked up to be?" Which is a question people ask when they realize that being a star isn't all fun and games. Ella has to realize that even though her world of work and orders isn't great, it is far colder and meaner in the world where you are known by all, your every move inspected and your expected to be perfect on top of it all! Ella isn't a feminist, she is facing something that many modern people face today: I got where I wanted to be...on top...but now, I want to be farther down again.
