Summary: say hello to my favourite book
Review: I don't know what it is about Francesca Lia Block's writing but it always makes me feel all tingly inside. Dangerous Angels, is my favourite Block book, probably because it includes 5 seperate stories (which you can also get outside of this compelation). The mood Block sets is purely magical, but yet weaves in aspects of the everyday (sometimes harsh) world. At 13, I first picked this book off the shelf at the library because the cover intrigued me (sometimes it is okay to judge a book by its cover!) and I've been in love with Block's writing ever since then. Now, more than 3 years later after racking up countless overdue fines on this one book I've finally bought a copy of my own. I suggest you do the same. It really is a wonderful experience.

Summary: Amazing Collection of Stories
Review: I LOVE the way Francesca Lia Block writes. Her magical language speaks directly to me. I got this as a gift and instantly fell in love with it. I've read the entire thing quite a few times and often flip through and read different parts of it.

A MUST have for any Francesca Lia Block fans.

Summary: lush settings intoxicating story beautiful book
Review: this was the first of blocks books that i ever read and i remember just reading it put me in a dream like state. if anything it is her poetic prose and despcriptions that are so vibrant you can see them. Block can make even the most urban place seem like a paradise. fast read, some may have trouble with the strange names but its all part of the flow of words. wonderful

Summary: Absolutely horrendous!
Review: My aunt sent me this book with a bunch of others she was getting rid of. After discovering that it was a book of retold fairy tales, I quickly began to read it. 5 pages later, however, I realized just why my aunt had gotten rid of it. It's awful! With all due respect to those who liked the book, it has absolutely no depth nor purpose. This book is a complete waste of time.

Summary: A whole new world
Review: I got this book a few months ago and finished it in less then a week. I will be honest the first 20 pages or so I was seriously sitting there thinking "I wonder how much I could get selling this back on the internet". But being someone that doesn't give up easily on books I stuck with it. I am beyond happy I did. I absolutely love theses books. It is a totally new style of writing that once you get into it makes you feel what the characters feel. After reading these books I feel like I know all of them personally. Even now a couple months after I've finished them I find myself thinking about different moments and situations from the books. All the tales are absolutely lovely and all but the two that are narrated by witch-baby they are told through a different character's eyes. The only book I read by her's before this was "The Rose and The Beast, Fairy Tales Retold" so these are very different but very good. So if your looking for something fun and unique, and are willing to stick with it even if it doesn't suck you in within the first couple pages, then check this one out.

Summary: Not an overprotective parent, but a bookworm teen
Review: In a world wherereality is so harsh that none can escape the torments of it, why can't we have an escape? Parents, Im a teenager, I know, WE KNOW ABOUT THESE SUBJECTS! Sex, drugs, homosexuality, aren't they all common conversation ground for teenagers? Isn't it possible that we don't need any more shielding from the world? FLB takes us into a world where nothing is hidden, but there are also the touchs of fantasy that we all wish we could grab. By reading this book, and coming into Weetzie Bat's world we are not shockingly finding out about these matters! All of these books are treasures, an insight to what the world really is. Instead of focusing on the troubles of the world, FLB shows us the troubles of the people in that world.

Summary: THE Essential Francesca Lia Block...
Review: This book is magnificent. I was introduced to it when i was 14 and have re-read it many many times.
In Dangerous Angels the five books of Block's simply written yarns of Weetzie Bat's friends and family unfolds and winds magically through the Hollywood hills and canyons. Its youthful and light but meaningful and thoughtful as well. It is emotional, uplifting and inspiring.
The only prerequisite to reading this book is to not take it so seriously. It may be directed at young adult audiences, but there is no reason that others may not enjoy it. At times the plot may seem a little far-fetched, but it is after all just fiction... Just read it and take it for what it is: a lovely gem of surreal fiction.

Summary: Terribly Written
Review: I picked this book up because the cover intrigued me, and it sounded interesting. Yet within the first five pages, i realized that it is horribly written!!! I did read further then those pages, hoping it would get better, but it didn't. la Block writes in short sentences, and jumps around a lot. i would NOT recommend this book if you are used to more sophisticated styles of writing.
