Summary: This book was great!
Review: My teacher read my class this book last school year. I thought it was great! It had tons of suspense and sorrow. I hadn't read a book quite like it for a long time. I was scared and upset right along with the six Kelly children. Many of the school books I only read because I had to. It was totaly differnt with this one. As soon as I started reading it I couldn't stop. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Summary: A great contribution to the Orphan Train Series
Review: This book is very vivid in the description of the characters. First the book focuses on the entire family and then on Frances, the oldest sister and Peaty, the youngest brother. This book is about the committee that Reverend Loring Brace formed that took orphans in New York City in the 1850's and took them out west on the orphan trains to have a better life. Overall, this book is a great starter of the orphan train series.

Summary: A GREAT BOOK FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES
Review: This book what just so great!!!! I read it in 8th grade english and it was the only school related book I have ever liked. I'm a freshman in college now and I still look back on it one of the best books I've ever read. I don't really even remember all of it but the book just touched me. I recomend this book to anyone of ages 6-100!!!! Your never too old to read this book. Joan Lowery was brilliant when she wrote this heartthrobbing novel. Two thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Review
Review: This series about the Kellys is by far my favorite. The setting and characters come alive to make History seem more real. This is the first book in the series, but in less than a week you will probably read all seven books, that's how outstanding these books are. The Kellys will seem like a part of your family and you probably won't ever want the books to end.

Before the train leaves Frances the eldest child overhears that two kids in the same family are more likely to be adopted if they are boys. So Frances promising her mother that she would take care of her youngest brother cuts her hair and pretends to be a boy named Frankie. That's just the beginning Frances and her brothers and sisters encounter many other things on there quest to the west. Summary: A Family Apart
Review: This was really a great book. It had a interesting plot. It lagged only once when Frances, the oldest, did something for her job requering going on the streets. I thought it was page turrning when the children were being seperated. I liked the fact that the charicters were going through such in intence situation that i could never relate. I will warn you that I think the book "stops short". I wouldn't let that stop you from reading it. Infact I read it in the car dispite the fact it made me car sick. I recomened this to anyone who likes books on slavery or the west. I congradulate Joan Lowery Nixion on a job well done!
