Summary: Brendan King Review
Review: The Wanderer, by Sharon Creech, is a story of a girl named Sophie who takes a sailing trip from Connecticut to England to see her grandfather Bompie with her uncles and cousins. As they travel across the ocean and encounter many things. It is a slowly developing book that picks up around the middle of the story. Each chapter is a section of Sophie's or Cody's, her cousin, diaries.

I would recommend this book to 4th grade and up because of the simple words and the book is very easy to comprehend. Also to anyone who reads stories written in the form of diaries especially young girls because they could relate to Sophie. When I read this book it was very interesting to learn the boat lingo and radio code which could be useful if you are a young aspiring sailor.

Summary: The Wanderer
Review: I would recommend this book The Wanderer. This book is packed with adventure, mystery and action. The Wanderer is about a girl named Sophie who loves the sea but somehow is afraid of it. Sophie joins a ship named The Wanderer and tells Bompie stories to her two cousins named Cody and Brian. Sophie's stories are always about the sea and how Bompie would struggle in it. She also claims the stories are true but will Brian believe her? Brian is the so-called "Sensible" one and Cody is the joker in the family and is Sophie's favorite. Cody is determine to find out how Sophie's parents died. I think this is a very good book and recommend it to be worth reading.

Summary: The Wanderer a review by Emma
Review: Do you like sailing adventures and risky challenges? Then you should read the book The Wanderer by Sharon Creech. The protagonist, Sophia, her two cousins, Brian and Cody, and her three Uncles, Mo, Stu, and Dock, set sail on a dangerous adventure to see their Grandfather, Bompie. From Connecticut to Ireland, problems on the boat are numerous.
One of my favorite events is when Sophia sees a wave that is a little different than the others. As she gazes out into the ocean she notices an odd looking wave, it was not ebony like the others but white. It was covered in foam and grew bigger every moment. She shouted a warning toward Cody; he turned around saw the wave, crouched, and braced himself. She saw it hit him like a million bricks, and then Sophia took a deep breath and tried to hold as hard as she could to hold it.
Another one of my favorite events is when Uncle Mo (Cody's dad), teaches them radio code. They learned the whole alphabet. This is half of it, A= Alpha, B= Bravo, C= Charlie, D= Delta, E= Echo, and F= Foxtrot. They all called each other by their radio names; Sophia's would be Sierra- Oscar- Papa- Hotel- India- Alpha.
If you want to learn more about what happens to Sophia, or if you want to learn more radio code then ladies and gentlemen, I encourage you to read the book The Wanderer. There are many other exciting events in this story.

Summary: Great for preteens and young teens
Review: This novel really captures the free-spirited side of girls in those preteen to early teen ages, and connects with many who have lost parents. The main character sails across the ocean to the UK with her "family". Most of the plot takes place on this adventure across the sea.
This novel is an easy read, but deals with complex emotions and is full of action. Boys and girls will like it, but especially girls.

Summary: Good Book
Review: The Wanderer by Sharon Creech. It was about a girl who wants to go on a boat ride with her uncle. So finally he says yes. On the boat was her cousin Cody, Brian, Uncle Stew, Uncle Dock, and Sophie. Sophie is a girl who is spontaneous, and outgoing. She is willing to do anything on the boat to make sure they survive. Brian is her cousin who is a control freak and his father Uncle Stew is the same exact way. Cody is her other cousin who just does what ever he wants to do. Uncle Dock is Cody's father and he likes to paint and doesn't get along with Cody or anyone on the boat. The boat ride was pretty scary, a few big waves aboard, rainy weather and they lost their only radio. They finally made it to there grandfather, who lived in England.
