Review: "Fallen Angels" is a great war novel that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. This novel really goes deep into the devlopment of the characters and how the horrific experiences of war thrash them mentally and physically. This is no light read! It really goes into the graphic realism of war and will change your view on war entirely. This book will change your life for the better, and will also reveal how horrible, and yet trimphant fighting for your country can be.

It is about a company (group in the military) and its missions. One of the reasons I liked it so much it is it didn't glorify war. It told all the hardships horror and disgust. It tells tactics by the ViaKongs and America. It told how frightened and paranoid the soldiers were. It told much detail and true information. This book will make you cry when a solider die. Cringe when they tell about how the Americans were tortured. And feel proud of your country and what it did for those people.

I enjoyed reading it, there was a lot of action, and it kept me hooked. I could never put it down because I wanted to find out what happened next. This is probably my favorite book ever.

I suppose the idea of the book is decent, but there is a small amount of vocabulary used, and many events in the book seem to be repetitive. It's quite boring, and I recomend finding another book to read.

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Screaming Mediocrity. Review: For an English class, I was required to read this, (and compare it to _The Red Badge of Courage_), and throughout the entire novel I was ready to scream. "War is horrible. War is gory. We thought war would be interesting so we enlisted. Killing people isn't fun. Vietnam was just as much a war as anything else. We don't know why we're fighting." That's the gist of it. It's just typical -- such dull mediocrity! -- and really aimed at an audience of twelve year olds. If you know a kid who thinks war is just guts and pride, have him read it. But if they're over the age of 11, they should probably know this already.I hate to "judge a book by it's cover," but just look at the front -- it looks like either a) a glorifying war movie, or b) a book you'd find in a grocery store. I'll tell you one thing: reading this book did not enrich my life! The prose is nothing more than boring, and it really is just right for your average middle school reader. If you are the average middle school kid and think war is about heroes, maybe you should read it ... otherwise don't waste your time on this typical, harshly written book about war war war war war war.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Here we go again! Perfect book for today's conflicts. Review: Beautiful and disturbing- so sad to read about the experiences of the unjust Vietnam war experiences as it affected the characters of this unforgettable book. For example, the scenes of the guys going out for patrol are terrifying. Should appeal to teens and adults who are partial to war stories. This at least doesn't glorify it and should be required reading for anyone even thinking about joining the military. It also does a good job of evoking the 1960's era. For example, Perry hearing the song about going to San Francisco with flowers in your hair "It was a nice tune". Perry reveals his thoughts as to why he joined the army- he couldn't afford college. He also can't really understand why the war is happening, "What are we fighting for?" And also questions why black troops are given the more dangerous patrol positions. The characters of Fallen Angels become so close to the reader that it pains us to get a glimpse of their suffering and confusion. These kids are not even old enough to drink legally and there they are halfway around the world shooting at guys even younger than themselves. And how offensive it was when Perry was forced to go out and fight again after getting wounded the first time. The scenes when he is contemplating life and death, thinking about his mother and younger brother is touching. The guilt gnaws at his soul for leaving his brother, but he knew he had to get out of Harlem and 'see the world'. Instead he is reduced to a living hell, killing the enemy and praying to survive and return home. I can't help but think how relevant this book is for today's war against terrorists, and how President Bush has introduced American men and women to another conflict that is looking more and more each day like the Vietnam quagmire. Didn't we learn anything at all from that? Here we go again - subjecting our country to more pain.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fallen Angels a excellent book for teens Review: When I was in high school I hated every book we read. With the exception of one, Fallen Angels. This book depicts war the way it is, instead of like some books that don't really go into the detail of fire fights. It's not your typical boring school book assignment. The story is great as well. The fact that I enjoyed reading a book in english class is a good enough explanation to the merit of this book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: True Heros Review: Fallen Angels is an excellent action packed book. It makes the reader feel as if they're actually there, fighting alongside with the characters in the book. This book portrayed how five strangers from different backgrounds meet up in Vietnam to fight for very different reasons and learned to get along as they all go through the good and bad times of Vietnam.Alot of them didn't even bond at first sight, as a matter of fact some even literaly fought with one another. Although they came for different reasons they learned to love and appreciate eachother as brothers. This is a great book because it tells it how it is instead of wasting the readers time. This book reveals the strength of the heros who fought for their country by joinning the army. Although they were scared and naiive in the beginning after seeing so much of their men die / the fall of their Angels, they stand up and fight with honor and pride. Furthermore this book also shows the true meaning of being a team and working together it. Although at home the color of their skin seperated them, out in the battle field they all had the same dream which is getting out alive and in order to do so they must work together as a team. So they went to Vietnam as strangers, but returned home as a family.
