Review: It's a quiet day in a small town, when a car pulling a trailer pulls into a parking lot. Written on the trailer is "The Worlds Fattest Boy." As fast as the car pulled in a crowd came.
This story is about a boy named Toby, his friend Cal, and the fattest boy in the world, Zachary. Toby's life is changed throughout the book because of sad, happy, and tragic things that happen. His best friend, Cal, has a brother, Wayne, in the Vietnam War. Cal gets letters from Wayne and reads them as soon as he can to Toby.
Zachary is said to be the fattest boy in the world, but he is not. He becomes a friend with Toby and Cal, so they take him places. Cal snoops Zachary's trailer, to find Zachary's Bible, but it doesn't have his Baptism information. Cal and Toby have a plan to get him baptized, but will need Kate, Cal's sister, to get him to go.

Review: ...P>This book is a somewhat funny book and Kimberly Willis Holt is very descriptive.You feel like you are there when it is happening. I recommend When Zachary Beaver Came to Town to anyone who needs a good book . This book has won the National Book Award. Kimberly Willis Holt is also the author of My Louisiana Sky. I did like this book because there are some great characters and they explained a great deal. This book has different emotions such as delight and fury. This book kept me interested, and I want to read more of Holt's books.- - Megan Merchen

Summary: When Zachary Beaver came to Town
Review: Not much ever happens much in Antler, Texas. Not to say, Toby has things that are not going good for him. Like his mother left for a singing contest, and the girl he likes, Scarlett is going out with someone else. Nothing much happens until a trailer parks in the dariry Maid. With the trailer having the quote "fatest boy in the word" Zachary Beaver. Everyone syarts coming to see him for the cost of 2.00. Toby and his friend Cal, liked to spy on poor zachary, after his gardian lefted him. But than they go in to see him, and each time bring food, they become friends, until they get in an argument.

Review: Personally, I liked the book because of the funny parts, which there were a lot of! Zachary is unbeilivably fat! Despite this fact Toby and Cal soon become friends with Zachary. I would recommend this book to everyone! Hope you enjoy the book!

Summary: I hate stereo typing!!
Review: When I read the book, i could relate to it in a lot of ways. I live in a very small town and nothing ever happens. You can't see the whole town from a bowling ally but it is really small. Also, when somebody new or different comes to town, people kind of treat them differently than they would others. In the book people didn't like zachary that much because he is over wieght. Most people these days look down on kids and adults like that because they don't look normal. i really enjoyed this book because it is different.

Summary: what I thought about "When Zachary Beaver Came to Town"
Review: In my opinion this book was alright. At some parts in the biginning it was some what boring but towards the end it got really exciting and very good, i couldnt put the book down. I would recomend the book for anyone who wants a good book with a good message in it. I would recommend this book for kids ages 10 to 13 or maybe 14. The voacbulary was alittle low for me becouse I am 14 but i still found it a good book.

Review: This book is possibly one of the best books in this years KSU English Festival list. This story tells about a large over weight boy named Zachary Beaver. Who one day with his manager, Paulie Rankin, came to the small town of Antler, Texas, in this town everyone knows everything about each other, but when Zachary comes to town it's a real mystery. Toby and his friend Cal are possibly the most curious about Zach, also with their curiosity comes with the need to help Zach with what he needs. This book teaches a good lesson: Big things can happen in little places. Over all this is a good book I recomend this to anyone who likes to read. Thanks for reading my review. : )

Review: When Zachary Beavercame to Town, by kimderly Willis holt, is a story about one kid that will change the life of two friends forever. it takes place in a small town called Antler,Texas during the Vietnom War. There are a few main characters in the story named Zachary Beaver, Tobais(Toby), Calvin(Cal), and Ferris. Toby and Cal are best friends and have been since they met. Ferris works at the Bowl O Rama and Zachary and his manager,Paulie Rankin, drive into Antler. Zachary is a verry fat kid and is part of a freak show. Toby and Cal, at first, are mean and make fun of Zachary, like everyone else. But once they got to know him, they learned what was making him act the way he does. He does this because his mother died and is embarresed about being fat. Toby and Cal both experience what it is like for someone you love to die or leave you in some way. This makes them feel terrible about friendship and getting to know someone before you judge them. It is one of those books when a stranger, Zachary in this case, comes into a towm, city, or courntry and makes everlasting memories.
